We love dining here always! Service is always good and love the food always.
Great food! Friendly, attentive service. Definitely recommend for casual atmosphere and local flavor.
The food fell short. I had the halibut and the cabbage on top did not add to the dish and the fish was over cooked. If my husband hadn’t shared I would’ve left hungry. He had fish and chips, they were good but not the best or near what we’ve eaten at other places. Our guest ordered the pasta which was good but had fried tofu in it. The tofu had no value decor added protein. I would not recommend this restaurant to family & friends
We chose Steelhead Diner based on the reviews and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious. Don't miss the Clam Chowder drizzled with truffle oil! Yum!!
Great meal, great place. Ate here as part of Seattle Restaurant Week and loved it. Delicious Salmon dish, great (very fresh) salad. We'll be back.
Well I was actually nervous to go here the reviews are SOOOO hit or miss but thankfully we must have caught it on a good night. Great dinner, great service, perfect pace. Kids meal portions are VERY generous which is wonderful. Michael our server was great.
We ate during restaurant week so we got an outstanding value. The braised short ribs were tender and flavorful. The chocolate dessert was really good, but the thick ganache piped on the plate was a little too much chocolate. The caramel apple dessert was a little to sweet for me, but my companion really liked it. On another note, the Sunday brunch here is great.
Wonderful eclectic menu, local ingredients and a great wine list of local, reasonably priced wines. My favorite restaurant in the Pike Place Market area.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone because this restaurant automatically applies a 20% gratuity to the check, taking away my ability to tip based on service provided. I understand part of the reason is to ensure a portion of the tip goes to the back of the house, however that burden should not be placed on me as a diner. I should be able to tip as I feel is warranted based on the service I receive, the restaurant should take care of it's staff out of it's own pocket. The restaurant should tell diners of this policy UP FRONT VERBALLY as I would not have eaten here if I had known about the automatic 20% gratuity. I will not recommend this restaurant for this very reason, regardless of how good the food may be.
One of the few local restaurants with trout on the menu. I went for Restaurant Week, but will certainly return.
Great food, but cocktails way over priced nearly $20/ drink.
I have always found the food to be excellent at steelhead diner. This is the second time that I’ve had very poor service. I’m not sure if this time was the kitchens fault of the waiters fault. We had only started on our appetizers when here came our mains.
Have eaten here many times and always excellent. I usually have the cioppino and I feel they do the best in town. This time I had the pasta on the restaurant week menu which was excellent. Too bad they weren't too forthcoming in promoting the restaurant week menu.
Just good food, good service, good atmosphere, good place; everything works well here. Menu is varied and sumptuous. Wait staff are friendly and not stuffy, very good with wine recommendations, don’t be afraid of asking questions, they are there to make sure you have a great dining experience. Come as you are and have a great meal.
Food was uneven, as was the service. Some dishes, such as white salmon and salads were terrific. Other dishes like butternut squash soup and cioppino were unremarkable. Overall, we found it a good place to take out of towners, but would not go again.
Very disappointed how Steelhead Diner has placed a 20% Min tip (on top of tax too!) and failed to deliver 20% of value in sub par service. Aside from that gripe, the food has also deteriorated from what was one of my “go to” spots. The $14 martini arrived warm and server refused to remake. The food also was not coursed so when the Salad and the side (collard greens) arrived at the same time I requested that the side be returned with main course. Well that came 3 min later. Needless to say the starter salad was eaten first. The side and entree was then sent back and returned later. So much for piping hot. Was more like day old left overs. Frustrating that the mandatory tip was 20%. Fool me once... remembering the good ol days. (Party of 3 $234. Next.
Love this restaurant. It has no pretension and could if it wanted. The food is always interesting and wonderful. The menu seems to change constantly with whatever is fresh. The tastes are superb. When friends come from out of town, this is on my short list of preferred options. Near the market, I reserve early to see the sunset and enjoy the cuisine. Never been disappointed .
Amazing food, great service and what a view!!
Great food and attentive service. Visited for the 1st time; on a Wednesday evening for birthday dinner and thank goodness I made reservations..it was unexpectedly super busy and loud.
Always a GREAT meal. For my out of town business guests this is always my "Go To" spot to give them a taste of Seattle.
The Service and food is spot on and consistent so I make this a mandatory dinner event.
For personal dinners my wife and I have enjoyed many an anniversary and celebration here both with and without friends with consistent results.
Chef Anthony is another reason we like to sit at the kitchen window. He is friendly, informative and dinner theatre here is a lot of fun watching them cook and pump out the food.
Excellent food and service. A colleague recommended we try it and it was the perfect venue for group of 12 business dinner. Everyone was very satisfied. Our wait staff was excellent and made very good recommendations. Will definitely go back.
Mixed reviews this time. The crusty bread with olive oil and butter were terrific. My decaf at the end of the meal was excellent. My sauteed trout was underwhelming. It was cooked beautifully but needed seasoning. The plate was very blah looking with white the predominant color with accents of white cauliflower.
Their ORECCHIETTE PASTA & ROASTED LOBSTER MUSHROOMS is my new favorite thing.
We were visiting the market and came across this place. Pleasantly surprised that is was restaurant week. Great experience. We would highly recommend.
Great food, wonderful staff and the perfect spot to connect with old friends!
Great welcoming staff. Service was quick , & waitress checked back several times to see if all was okay. Able to see some water view & fun people watching . Could see sports on tv if wanted. Very open concept & bar appeared to b hoping. Razor clam chowder very good.....would recommend
We were early so had to wait for a table but not past our reservation time. Drinks were quite good. My friend ordered a drink that she really didn't like and it was readily replaced. The lobster/shrimp tots are awesome. A chowder was ordered and our waitress forgot to bring it. Our main courses arrived promptly, almost too quickly - felt a bit rushed. I ordered the rib eye which was cooked to order and very good but they really could use some actual steak knives. The potatoes served with it were just cooked cubes - no seasoning on them. We ordered a dessert to split which was comped because of the chowder issue. Don't like a 20% gratuity automatically added to the bill here or at any restaurant.
The Steelhead Diner is my favorite restaurant in Seattle. I used to live in Seattle and dined there often, and now when I go through Seattle from my home in Tokyo to various stateside destinations, everytime without fail I make it to your restaurant. Just once, though, I’m hoping to find steelhead on your menu!
Wow. The food was amazing. Great service and reasonable in price for a major city.
The food was served fast, hot and delicious! Service was good. Nobody freaked out when my daughter accidently dropped and broke a plate. Tip included in total and divided with all staff. The non-alcoholic beverage list could have been more extensive. I would return.
Would much prefer to be in the dining room than in the private dining room
Service extremely slow and our 42 dollar entrees were left sitting under heat lamps for at least 5 minutes. Salmon was beautifully composed, but was served over cooked. Waitress offered to send back, but we didn't have another hour to wait.
Don’t think that because it has diner in its name you’re going to enjoy the culinary delights of the New Jersey Turnpike. This is a place with great, interesting food. The cioppino was the best I’ve had anywhere (so long as you like food that’s a bit pikante.
The service was fine but the food was super salty and loads of butter added.
Indifferent wait staff, overlay salty entrees and soup. Better options abound nearby.
Great food as always!
Delicious food. Fresh fabulous veggies! Reasonable prices for a tourist and local hotspot near the PP market. Will visit again on my next Seattle trip-
The meal started well with the razor clam chowder which was delicious but after that I have to say I was not impressed with the food. I ordered the fish and chips. The fries were completely overdone and crunchy. While I like some crispness to my fries these were completely crunchy all the way through. Maybe they were going for a really thick potato chip??? Fish was basically tasteless and all batter. Be aware this place adds 20% automatically to every bill. Part of which goes to the server and the rest apparently to pay for their benefits. I normally tip at least that amount anyway (though it all would go directly to the server) but this seems a strange way to handle Seattle's minimum wage law. At any rate I have had some great food from different places in Seattle during my travels there, but don't think I'd add this place to that list.
The food was only ok. I had the anduille sausage rich-boy, but the the sausage was a bit overcooked. The ambiance was great and loved the large windows overlooking the market.
Beware of the 20% fixed service charge. This is becoming more common but has to be matched with great service. That didn't happen. Our server had far to many tables, the bar was slow to get the drinks out, and the kitchen failed to get the order details right. The same management who sets the service price has to actually staff the restaurant to match the demand. Yes it was a Saturday night... but they happen every week.
