Haven’t been here in years but it was the perfect setting for a birthday celebration. The service was top notch! Priscilla was attentive and prompt with service while still allowing us enough space to carry on conversations. Special thanks to the Chef for the special treat that he had sent to our table. Thank to all the staff for making me feel special and I’ll be back soon!
We continue to come back because of great service from the valet to the servers... Plus the food is amazing... you must check it out..
Excellent service as always. The bibimbop was not even close to correct, though. Stick with the Vietnamese shaken beef and the salted shrimp and calamari. They are excellent. As is the hot and sour soup.
This was the second time eating at Steel. I was extremely impressed the first time that I wanted to eat at there again.
I had the Shaken Beef, which was very tender, had big flavor, and the plate was a good portion size.
I will definitely eat at Steel again!
I have been to Steel many times over the years and have always enjoyed it. However, I was very disappointed when I took my wife there for Valentine's Day. Neither one of us typically care for the "Special" menu that restaurants offer on such occasion. I looked on the website and called to confirm that the regular menu was an option. Both confirmed that it was. When we got there we were strongly discouraged by the waiter not to go that route. He explained that it would take a really long time and that there was a $10 up charge on items ordered off the regular menu. We chose to stay and order off their special menu and ended up being very disappointed. The options weren't really what we wanted or had in mind and the money spent was nowhere worth it. The restaurant wasn't even that busy for them to use the excuse that it would take extra long. I will definitely not consider Steel for special occasion dinners in the future.
I’ve been dining at Steel for close to 10 years. BEST sushi I’ve ever had and love the ambiance. So reliable for a great dining experience. Excellent wine selection too!
Service was ok and food was fine, but was way too loud. Waiter took away an appetizer before we finished it. Food was over priced, but it was good. Overall the loudness inside dining area took away from the experience.
Steel restaurant was amazing. The music was on point! My boyfriend and I are big fans of this place. Our waitress, Laura, I think is her name was excellent! The food was amazing and will most definitely come back.
Greeter was very friendly and promptly seated us. Service was exceptional; Jessica did an awesome job! Restaurant is very stylish. I loved the art. The food was very good. It is a very nice place to come for a special occasion.
Requested a booth a week in advance and did I not get one.
Special menu was great. Service was great as well.
Amazing sushi! Probably the best I’ve had in dallas. Price was good, not too high.
It used to be a great place. Really gone down hill. Avoid it, Dallas has much better.
Fantastic service and ambience. Food is great and so are the drinks. Thanks!
Where do I start? The waiter was super nice, but possibly overwhelmed last night. First of all, we were brought to a partially set table with only 3 chairs and we were 4 people with a reservation. There were enough other tables with 4 chairs and set up properly. Not quite sure why the host felt the need to squeeze us in between other full tables, when there were sufficient tables elsewhere. They didn’t have the bottle of wine I ordered, so they offered us one that was similar....that can happen, I understand. Secondly, the appetizers never showed up.....it was only after 50 minutes of waiting and us asking, did something show up, the edamame. Four other tables around us, that filled in after we ordered, received their appetizers ahead of us. We pointed that out to our waiter as well. The wine was always poured by one of us at the table, never by the waiter. When the sushi appetizers arrived, we had noticed that the same plates had gone by our table in our waiter’s hands and back to the kitchen before finally landing at the correct table, ours. We don’t know if this was the kitchen’s fault or our waiter....regardless, very disappointing and frustrating. The mussels I ordered came cold to the table, so they were replaced, only to receive them again in the same condition. These were not consumed obviously. They promised to take them off of the bill, which they did. Despite multiple apologies from several of the staff at Steel, things never improved. The Hot Rock appetizer arrived after 70 minutes, and was way overpriced for what it is. The waiter then came to explain that the kitchen “can’t bring it together to get the Soft shell Crab done”. That was obviously also taken off the bill. The only items worth eating were the sushi appetizers and the salmon tower. We left hungry and extremely frustrated. It’s a shame actually, as I have never had the need to write such a review, but this experience left us speechless!
The food was very good!
For the appetizer, we had the Pot stickers, which were tasty. The main entree I had the Mt. Fuji roll and Crab & Mango egg roll, both of which complimented one another. My dining partner had the Chilean Sea Bass, which looked and smelled delicious. I was told it was really flavorful. The portion of fish was just right!
As for the decor and atmosphere, it was really cool. The only issue was that the music was a little too loud for my dining partner who wears a hearing aid. We had to lean in towards one another to hear each other.
Overall, Steel is a great neighborhood restaurant and look forward to exploring the menu!
Delivery of food was slow compared to past normal service at this restaurant.
Staple menu items changed due to change in the kitchen. Definitely missed a few "go-to" options. Good overall, but did not meet the lofty expectations of prior visits.
We went for dinner on a Saturday night. The parking is the first turn off: there is none. Street parking is non-existant so you'll need to valet or park in the Centrum garage - which has no access to the restaurant other than walking up the ramp you drove down.
When we arrived, the restaurant had a nice vibe to it and the right amount of dim lighting. I could see but it was a nice dimness. The hostess seated us right away (we had a reservation) and told us our server's name and said she would be right over. The restaurant had people in it but wasn't all that busy. Maybe a bit more than half full? The waitress never showed up, and the hostess had a good eye at me getting perturbed that we hadn't been waited on, so she went in the back to get someone else. Kudos to her because I said nothing and she fixed it. Our new server was very nice and pleasant. He took our order and everything was good.
We had the ahi tower plus 3 additional rolls. Everything was good! The tower was really good! The prices, however, were inflated. I wouldn't label it a ripoff, but it's definitely more than other places of equal caliber. I would say I would come back, however it wouldn't be my first choice for sushi because of the pricing and parking. It was good though, and a great place for a date from a lighting and vibe perspective.
There to celebrate our friends anniversary. It was very quaint and quiet. Very special evening.
I came with my boyfriend to celebrate my birthday. He would have rated this experience much lower. The main problem was service. I ordered the high roller ($25) but received a cherry blossom roll ($20). This was "on the house". However, I ate the first roll that was delivered to me because I was hungry, but I still had to pay for the more expensive roll that I did not eat... because I was full from the roll that I didn't order. The host told me they were going to bring me a birthday cake, but I had to remind my server of this after we had paid for the meal. There were only 2 servers in the entire restaurant on a busy Saturday night. I don't think this was a problem with my server as much as a problem with management.
Service was incredibly slow even though there were only two other tables, two people each, in the dining room. Food will bring us back.
rude miserable waiter
slow inconsistent service
Crispy beef still good, but sushi is just average.
Sake menu is incomplete. No Black and Gold for e.g..
the service was very slow and inattentive. the food was bland an way overpriced. I've had far superior shrimp fried rice at fast food take-out than was my $30 order at Steel. Even the valet was inattentive. My date had to open her own door. Won't be going back
Wonderful gathering with friends.. Laura, waitstaff person, was outstanding..great service..recommendations..great personality..Beautiful presentations..tastee courses..ambience gorgeous. Could actually converse at the table..validated parking by rest. when using garage. Real treat and would highly recommend.
Service was great and we were greeted and taken care of from entrance to exit. Food was served nice and hot and our drinks were replenished frequently without asking. Overall good experience for my 1st visit
Great place! Our server Laura was awesome!!’
Great food and service
Dinner was enjoyable. Waitress was very nice. Sushi was tasty for the most part although the one roll that was topped with steak was not as good as I had hoped. But that is part of the adventure of trying a new restaurant. Sometimes things are great, some not so much. This was worth another visit just to try some more of the menu later.
Food was great
Service was great
People with the screaming baby needed to go but this isn’t their fault !!
Steel is wonderful
It was the worst service ever. Food ok at best. Server kept forgetting to bring us our order and then disappeared entirely over and over again.
Not as good as it used to be but totally worth it if you have the Groupon. Fantastic service!!!
We loved our dinner, the friendliness of the wait staff, host and a visit from the head chef. The food was incredible and best Ahi tuna tower we have ever eaten. Sake sampler was fun, some of the best drinks we've had and Chilean Sea Bass was flavorful, tender and enjoyable. Everything about this experience was fabulous!
Steel has long been our go to restaurant in the neighborhood. I've enjoyed the food, the ambiance, and the staff. I can no longer say that the experience meets the standards that I had grown to expect and enjoy. We ate their on Monday evening with two other couples, all of whom had been to Steel with us before. Our crowd eats early so our 6:30 reservation was normal. The place was pretty much empty except for a gauge of staff in the corner who pretty much ignored us. My wife and I were early, so we had our usual at the bar. The bar manager and his service was the high point of the evening. It was all down hill from there. We joined our guests at a table and then waited and waited for someone to take their drink order. I finally had to flag someone down. Then we waited and waited for our appetizer, then waited and waited for the menus, then waited more for someone to take our order. All of this in a restaurant completely unfettered by any other guests. Maybe another table or two. We finally got our food, which everyone thought was very good…as usual. Two couples had asked to split entrees and were graciously accommodated.
The place was pretty much empty when we left as well. I'm afraid they are not going to make it. It's a shame. They should be, and were at one time, the best Asian Fusion place in town and had top rate staff. No longer.
Our server, Denita, was delightful. Everything was lovely. We hope to 'STEEL AWAY' another time in the not too distant future. Thank you.
Great food & great atmosphere. Awesome ladies night specials.
Anniversary, Saturday night. Has always been a favorite. When for the signature dish, whole crisply fried Red Snapper. Saturday night, early reservation, told they were out, had sold three the night before and were out. Bummer. We were dressed up as we remembered it being a classy spot. Seated by a guy in flip flops, Jean cut offs and a tank top wearing a ball cap. Obviously the format here has changed. No longer a classy spot. Never will go back
