Well everyone was nice, but my first food was burnt chips.happy hour has no sushi roll specials.they have a made up list of random food items for happy hour and they didn't have them all.the $3 import beer and sake are great deals.should I try it again ??????
it was really good especially the shaken beef and the peppers.
Very disappointed in the sushi. The fish was literally pulverized and very small portion in both of the rolls that we ordered. The rice seemed swollen and waterlogged. Overwhelming amount of rice compared to rolls I’ve enjoyed for 30 years.
My experience here was nothing short of amazing! The food is phenomenal and our server (Kayla) topped any service I’ve ever encountered in the 14yrs of living in the DFW. If you’re considering dining here; you will not be disappointed.
Great food. Some of the best sushi in Dallas.
Showed up at 6:30 on the dot for our 6:30 reservation, was seated immediately, was only about 25% full. Took roughly 10 minutes for anyone to come to the table with water or anything else. Waitress finally showed up, we ordered our drinks and a couple of their most high end appetizers. Roughly 10 minutes more pass, still no drink. Approached the front desk and asked what was going on, said there was a printer issue. Hmmmmm did not seem to be an issue with the others around us. Few minutes more passed, still nothing. We got up and left.
Was at Marimotos the week before and they were outstanding. Will never enter the doors of Steel again. Very sad for a once great place.
Excellent meal. The Smoked Tuna Tower was fabulous! My Filet Mignon was cooked to a perfect temperature! Our waiter was very attentive and the hostess was so friendly and accommodating. We will definitely return!
No one was there… thought food was bit overpriced for the ambiance to not be there.
Came for a dinner and was highly disappointed. Food took 40 mins to come and entree’s came before appetizers. Pretty chaotic. Additionally one of the items I ordered was missed. The food was mediocre and the service was below par.
For those prices, there shouldn’t be fake crab sticks in the rolls. Not nearly as good as it used to be. In addition to bad food, didn’t help that the order came out wrong, drinks were not refilled, and we were charged for something we didn’t order. Not going back.
Wasn’t super impressed with food for the prices. Place was empty yet our server felt like she was rushing us to order.
This place has great luxury sushi , drinks, wine and more. The staff is so friendly as even the chef comes to your table to check how it is. They truly care about your experience .. when you go ask for Lewis and tell him Johnny Harrison sent you as you will not be disappointed..
They alway treat us so great!
Food was terrible! Sushi was NIT fresh!!! Server didn't know anything!!!!
This is a great restaurant. From the ambiance to the service and of course the food!!! If you have not tried them you should and ask for Lewis..
Haven’t been to steel in years. Food wasn’t as great as I remembered. Don’t get the calamari….very bad.
This was one of our favs back in the day. The service and food has declined tremendously. Our dinner took 2.5 hrs (we ordered appetizers and our meal about 5min after being seated). The waiter apologized about their sushi chefs being “backed up” but 2.5 hrs for dinner when the restaurant was not even half full Is crazy.
The quality of the food was average (at best). In the future we will continue taking our business to Shin Sei.
Steel, a long time Sushi favorite in Dallas offers a great menu. The ambience is good and a great option for date night.
My review is toned down from what I wanted to write, based on how we were greeted and taken to our table after making a reservation 24 hours in advance via Open Table. The restaurant was at perhaps 50% full or less, but yet we were seated at a table near the main traffic route servers and guest. My wife asked if it was possible to be seated at another table, the host said those are all reserved. I replied by saying, so do we, but he wouldn't offer another table, other than telling us we could sit at the bar.
We sat down, and began our dinner, but the tables he said were reserved, never were used. Did not leave a good impression.
The server was good, a bit rushed. The overall service experience was slow and inconsistent.
It's not hard to find good sushi in Dallas, so many options, and Steel has an opportunity to create something that is truly unique. But in a space where the differences in food quality are very close.... Service is the differentiator.
The food was delicious and service was exceptional, you can’t go here without getting the sushi!!
Good quality but very overpriced. Service was excellent.
Haven't been in years and now I remember why. Extremely slow service. Price vs portion size does not align. Expensive dinner for a lack luster experience with slow service.
This was easily the worst restaurant I have ever been to. Reservation was for 8:00, by 9:30 we still had no food. Asked the waiter what was taking so long and he said “sorry we can’t make your food” and then brought the check. Literally unbelievable. Wonder how long I would have had to wait before they finally said that. Never go here. Saturday night, and this is the service you get. Absolutely terrible. Never go here.
Food was great as always but they were noticeably short staffed.
My husband and I had a wonderful date night here for our anniversary. The service was perfect, and our food and drinks were great. The mule was more gingery than any other mule I’ve had, which made it the perfect compliment to my food. When I order a mule anywhere else, the one from Steel is the one I’ll be wishing it was I’m sure. My husband’s favorite thing we ate was the toro, and for me, it was the soft shell crab. The way the soft shell crab was fried made it light and crispy, not soggy or greasy at all. Everything was fresh and prepared well. I definitely recommend the restaurant for anything from a date night to hanging out with a bunch of friends sharing plates and drinking mules, sake, or flights of Japanese whisky!
The Wine deal was great . we were seated quickly and our server was attentive and friendly. We had the tune tower to start it was devine. The we shard the cherry blossom roll and the firecracker roll. Both were great. The onlydrawback is that we were seated next to a couple that were cooking on a hot rock and the smoke from that was a bit much. we will definitely be back.
Great! Food was delicious!
Fresh Sushi and beautiful presentation. Serving staff was impeccable.
We had a blast! We sat at the bar and the bartender was so friendly! She made great recommendations and everything was delicious!!
Great experience. Food was great as well as the service. Good suggestions for ordering.
I had a 6:45 PM reservation on Thursday June 17, 2021. I arrived promptly and was seated. That was the last time I saw a restaurant employee. I sat for 30 minutes in an almost empty restaurant without and employee ever acknowledging my presence.
After 30 minutes I got up and left. First time in my life I have walked out of a restaurant. The hostess had the gall to thank me on my way out. I told her that I hadn’t eaten or even been spoken to by a server. She apologized but blamed someone else.
The manager chased me down on the sidewalk outside the restaurant and apologized. He offered to pick up the tab for dinner if I would come back inside. I declined. He blamed the hostess for not telling him I was seated.
There were eight other customers in the restaurant which looks like it probably seats around 60. In the 30 minutes I was there I saw one dish come out of the kitchen and two employees at the sushi bar looking extremely confused.
There is obviously something very wrong happening at Steel. I will not return no matter the circumstances and advise all others to avoid it until they get their problems corrected.
Lovely atmosphere, staff was very attentive, complimentary spiced honey chips, delicious vegetarian options or chef will graciously modify. cant wait to come back! AND the valet accepts venmo!
Chose Steel for my birthday dinner. I didn't mention in my reservation that is was my birthday, however, when entering the restaurant, I was pleasantly surprised to be greeted with a warm "Happy Birthday". Service and food were very good. The complimentary birthday presentation of the cheesecake with chocolate, caramel and warm raspberry sauce was a lovely touch. This place is tucked away, but worth the visit.
Steel should be renamed to rust. This place is a far cry from what it used to be. It’s been a few years since I have been here but since moving to Fort Worth last year we have been returning to Dallas to dine on the weekends. Booked for Saturday night and walked in at 8:45. There was maybe 4-5 tables with diners but overall the restaurant was empty. Ordered a seaweed salad, the centrum combo and 2 entrees.
The seaweed salad arrived somewhat promptly but I should of known there was going to be a problem when my waiter took off out the front door and was gone for about 20 minutes. Upon his return he breezed by our table and I stopped him and asked where our sushi was??? He went to check and said there was a mixup and here’s some free edamame. Another 20 mins rolls by and he shows up with our unimpressive $75 plate of sushi. Definitely way overpriced. There are way better options in Dallas for what I received. Finally our mains arrived and again, lackluster.
I remember Steel being one of the best in Dallas at one time. Now it’s not even on par with the semi fast sushi options around town. The staff seems disengaged and not to care. There’s no manager on staff on Saturday night as stated by the hostess as she was leaving early to the bartender. The best service was from the busboy who was the most attentive.
Steel has rusted, and may be irreparable. Save your money. There are far better options.
Food and service were really good!
Food was amazing service was A+ differently a great spot for date night.
Food made me sick!
First time on Mother's Day. Food was delicious, service outstanding...great time had by all
Food was underwhelming
Awesome service from start to finish! Great food and ambiance!
The quail was fantastic!
