When our restaurant is closed to the public, we still have food available for our guests.
We thought dinner was too expensive for the amount and quality of the food. The food was good, but did not reach the culinary level of the prices asked. All entree choices were expensive--$38-$40 and small portions if you wanted to share plates. There were no less expensive choices.
I recommend breakfast and lunch there--good food and decent prices.
I wonderful Oregon experience. Our dinner was very good and we fell asleep listening to the river and woke to a glorious Oregon morning. The staff is knowledgable and friendly. The historic Steamboat Inn is Oregon at it's best.
Beautiful cabin by the roaring creek. Loved the cabin, the area, food and the great friendly service. No complaints. Clean and comfortable!
Staff really jumps to make you happy! Thanks!
The Steamboat Inn is unlike any restaurant I have been to. It is located far from the distractions of cities or suburbs and presents a place for romantic seclusion. Whether you are staying at the Inn or just going there for dinner, you will have a wonderful experience, from the peaceful sounds of the Umpqua River flowing by to the relaxing Library/bar in which to enjoy a before or after dinner drink amongst the books and games. The food was amazing, and the service by Jesse our waiter was exceptional. When dining at the Steamboat, one gets to know the owners and their staff on such a level that it is like going to a friend's house for dinner.
Visiting the area after not seeing it for 25 years.
This entire Inn is a treasure. Loved our stay in one of the riverside cabins followed by a excellent dinner. The soup that evening was one of the best I have ever had and the dinner that followed was equally as excellent. Also had breakfast here the following morning, which was equally as good. You can’t go wrong.
Excellent food, adventuresome setting with the power outage.
I booked online and was not aware our room was not near the river. My mother-in-law uses a walker and was not able to access the shower or bath. The staff was very friendly however service was slow as it appeared the Inn was understaffed. You should definitely have candles (battery operated is fine) for more lighting on the tables outside - difficult to read menu and see food. Food was excellent and cabin was very clean and well stocked for all needs in the kitchenette.
Wonderful place to stay, we would highly recommend! The staff was gracious and helpful. The room was cozy and the food was divine. We loved spending time in the Library after dinner playing games and enjoying a glass of wine.
An absolutely gorgeous setting on the North Umpqua River with gourmet dining. Loved it.
A lovely place with delicious food, reasonably priced (IMHO) and excellent beer/wine choices.
I took my fiance to the inn for his birthday dinner the day after he proposed. The ambiance was superb. The menu choices seemed limited at first but by the time the daily specials were presented, the choices were delightful. We arrive 30 minutes before reservation time and was nicely offered to go relax in the library with a great selection wooden table games. We enjoyed hot chocolate while playing scrabble. Our dinner server was a sweetheart who urged us outside to take pictures for us in the garden to remember our special occasion.
Steamboat Inn undoubtedly will be our destination of choice for anniversary or birthday for years to come!
Nice place. Very enjoyable
We gave it a chance three times last weekend. All were subpar. Breakfast- had to wait an hour to get food and weren't even greeted at all when we walked in to wait for a table. We essentially seated and found menus ourselves. It looked like a child made my food- I asked for no potatoes (intolerant) and I was given a few measly mushrooms instead of any substitute in my omelet. Lunch was a salad with way too much dressing, again- obviously summer is a busy season, so hire more people. At dinner, there were virtually no gluten free options and the waitress looked at me like I was crazy to ask for no potatoes. For spending $115 on dinner- it certainly didn't feel like it. I really wanted to like it.
Stayed for 2 nights at this super well run Inn. The accommodations were spotless, staff couldn’t be nicer or more helpful, and the food was great!! A smallish Inn on the Umpqua River - such a beautiful setting. No TV or WiFi (lobby only!) gave us a respite from the world we are living in these days. I can see why folks return year after year, and I hope to be one of them.
Great food and simply gorgeous.
We had a lovely meal sitting on the lawn, overlooking the river. The food was great and the service was friendly.
Wonderful food and service! My fiancé stated it was “the beast meal he’s had in a long time.”
While staying the night at the Inn, we were seated outside under a beautiful tree with twinkling lights for our anniversary. This was so lovely until the evening bugs began to land everywhere on our drinks and appetizer, so we quickly moved inside. Regardless, the service was very poor, clearly due to not enough staff for the dinner rush; our waiter was doing his best. Unfortunately, the menu was quite limited, and after a long wait the portions were small and food rather forgettable. We were just glad to finally be served and head back to our room.
The menu is limited but creative and the food was delicious. We ate there two nights because we were staying at the inn and the menu was the same both nights. Our server the first night was pleasant but a little unfocused. The servers we had for the second dinner and for breakfast and lunch were excellent, and all the food was great. Dining outside looking at the river was gorgeous!
We arrived at Steamboat Inn in the early evening and enjoyed the spectacular setting along the North Umpqua River. Dinner was delicious. The appetizer (smoked salmon dip) and the entree Shrimp with homemade wide noodle pasta in homemade pesto sauce was exquisite along with the Caesar salad which had a wonderful flavor to the dressing. It was a delightful evening. In the morning we enjoyed a hearty breakfast of eggs over easy, homemade toast with homemade rhubarb jam, delicious thick cut bacon and homemade smashed potatoes. Yum! Definitely a place to return to for a longer visit in the area.
Great rooms. Staff very friendly. Food was excellent but the service was a little slow and took quite awhile to get our food and there seemed to be some staff confusion on what was obviously a busy night. Never the less we will come back to one our favorite places.
Amazing outdoor seating close to river. Great wine list. Food was fresh and quite good. Staff was expectionally friendly. Quaint place.
The most exquisite, delicious, beautiful and hospitable stay in our two weeks vacation in Oregon. We loved the proximity to waterfalls, hiking and the UMPQUA river trails. We wished we had spent more time there.
The Steamboat Inn is a rare finds. It is a gem in the middle of the Umpqua National Forest. Having had the pleasure of staying there once, it is a place to which we will be returning annually.
This is a classic, historic place that is authentic as you can get. The setting is pristine, yet you get a truly fine meal by a talented chef.
Unique menu. Everything was cooked exquisitely. I had seared duck and my husband had rabbit pasta. Excellent wine list, service & ambiance. Highly recommend.
This place is great for a 2 nite get-away. Very good for a relaxing time and good food. The staff was outstanding and very accomadating--my wife and I will certainly return.
Had the carrot and ginger soup which was excellent. Wish I had the recipe. For dinner my husband and I had the ahi tuna and the crispy duck. Both were delicious and cooked to perfection. Service was great. Would definitely recommend.
Not being informed about cell service - or lack there of.. spotty wi-fi. That was disappointing.. I had business that needed to be done.. had to drive to get service..
No microwave, tv, Mini fridge also unexpected. It’s a nice place that could use some upgrades... for those who don’t care.. it’s great!
Great experience, the food is wonderful, the service is personal and friendly, we were very well cared for. The location is unmatched. We will be back.
Beautiful location.excellent good and service.
The pies were great, best apple pie I've had. The not so good: the main dishes were way overpriced for what you get. We got ahi tuna and tri-tip steak dishes, and each were over $40 each.
Also, the breakfast server didn't have very good customer service.
Probably one of my top 3 meals ever. Food and wine were excellent. Service was awesome at all 3 meals, especially our dinner server who went out of his way to see that we had delicious desserts to enjoy each evening at Hayden’s Run. I can’t say thank you enough. The charcuterie and cheese samplers are must haves with local Oregon wines. And the gnocchi! So good I had it both nights.
Have been part of The Steamboat Inn for years and loved coming back......Bring back the traditional Grandma's Bread !
Leave the Inn "As Is"....don't add anything!
Thank you for Not having TV in our room!
Outstanding food and beautiful surroundings. Service was excellent.
