The food, drinks and service were excellent. The hand crafted cocktails will keep me coming back.
This is the second time I have ordered the pork chop there. The first time I thought it was a fluke that it was over cooked but now that I’ve had it a second time I’m disappointed to discover they just don’t cook it well. I’ve been looking for a place to get a great pork chop ever since Fonz’s in Manhattan Beach closed.
Their tuna tartare and brussels sprouts are great though!
We’ve been to Steak & Whisky many times and it never disappoints. We love coming here!!!! We can’t wait to come back.
Excellent food, service and ambiance
The food was delicious. We ordered the Halibut which came with risotto, prime rib with mashed potatoes , and surf and turf with the rib eye steak. The most delicious was the halibut with the risotto and I typically hate risotto. The entire staff provided good service. Great ambiance
Awesome as always!
I feel this restaurant has lots its mojo sadly. Used to be very good but now the service is just low and not service oriented as it was in the past. Service crew is just getting by when before they were very on top of it for a higher end restaurant in Hermosa like this one.
It was such a shame to not to be able to share this place with friends. Sat there literally for 35 minutes without anyone approaching us asking for drinks or food anything. Before this happening I used to brag about this place to my friends as a great place to eat and drink. An absolute shame to be treated like we weren’t even there.
Steak&Mash was awesome old fashion was good too..
Early dinner on a holiday was quite pleasant. Much les people than usual and nice quiet dinner.
Steak was average. We expected fantastic steaks and it was just a bit short. Will try again to see if it improves.
Service, bartender, great, very, very good staff.
Great food and service. Loved the wine and whiskey choices.
Streaks were fantastic and the fresh bread and shishito peppers were amazing. The staff was very friendly and the decor was great!
Our steaks came out of the kitchen as we were taking our first bite of our appetizer, which was the burrata/caprese. Chose to start on the steak before it got cold. Moments later staff member comes by and asks to take a way our starter plates. No thank you, I've barely begun. I ordered Medium Rare and the steak was Medium to Medium well. It wouldn't have been as obvious if not for the picture diagram sitting on the table detailing (with pictures) the various cooking levels. Moments later a staff member swiftly takes away my cocktail that was still 25% full. Flies were landing on our food/table throughout. Later on a staff member offers a take home box to my girlfriend, who isn't finished, and while I still have food in my mouth. All of this while there was only one other occupied table inside (there were a few outside but less than 5). For $50+ steaks I expected better and will not be going back anytime soon. I will say the flavor of the steak was pretty good though. Our res was for 5:30 on a Friday night, a bit early yes, but it didn't get any busier by the time we left just before 7:00. It seems others have figured out there are better places and I don't expect this place to be around for much longer.
Clark is THE BEST. A whiskey and cocktail genius and just a master of his craft with a personality to match. This restaurant is such a gem!
Food is so good! Love the escargot !!. Tomato risotto and halibut is the best!
We had a delightful time! Lovely outdoor patio, a great view of the beach while enjoying delicious food and drink. Service was great, and the restaurant‘s Covid safety measures were appreciated. Looking forward to returning again!
When we arrived we were told we could only be seated outside because our reservation did not show that we had requested indoor dinning, even though we made our reservation a month ago. The guy was very rude about it. When I told him to give me a minute to pull up my reservation and show him I had specific requests he got an attitude and said he had to help the other guest arriving. Mind you it had not even been two minutes. The manager came over and got us to a table inside right away after hearing me out. From there on out the service was great. The food was amazing, steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The Japanese whiskey flight was amazing. The machines did go down so I waited 30 minutes for my check only to be told I could not have my total or pay then but could write down my card info and it would be processed later or the next day. Overall the food was worth it.
We were back again to this fantastic restaurant for my boyfriend’s birthday. The portions are generous and we love all the side dishes, broccolini, potato gnocchi, fries, onion rings. We’ve tried almost all of them. We’ve had the New York drip and rib eye which are both seasoned differently but both really juicy and cooked to perfection!! Service is consistently impeccable.
Steaks undercooked and not flavorful.
Good food, but poor service. Expensive but not ridiculous for the quality.
Clark was our server and he made amazing cocktails and great suggestions for food.
Food was outstanding. I had a filet paired with a cab, recommended by our server who also happened to be the bartender as well. I don’t remember his name (Jason? Maybe..) he was very attentive and made great suggestions.
This was my fourth time dining here and have never been disappointed, but this time was embarrassed because I raved about this place and invited friends to go there and experience what I have in the past. First the waitress (Viola) was at times condescending and should take some classes in customer service. Ruined the experience to the point that I was so embarrassed that I paid for the entire meal. Not sure if I’ll ever go back, should have asked for Clarke, he’s the best.
One of the dishes had asparagus and when we told the waitress that it was overcooked and mushy she made the comment, “well it has to be cooked.” The other time was when we ordered iced tea and she said she will have to go look for two glasses of tea and what were our second choices, like she was put out to the possibility of having to make more. We almost lost it, let’s just say I barely left a tip that equaled the tax amount.
In regards to the food, the short ribs were cooked to perfection but it had a spice that didn’t kick in to the end, not sure if it was anise but it became too overwhelming after a few bites (my friend’s all tried it and had the same opinion). The escargot was almost non existent this time, disappointing because I raved about those too.
We didn’t order dessert, asked the waitress what was available because Clarke has said in the past that the dessert menu changes and Viola said to look at the menu, by that time we were done and went up the street to have crepes.
Superb whisky flight, amazing steaks, and I bbq a mean steak and they showed me I kinda don’t … there’s was perfect
Girlfriend is puking, and the food and service was awful.
Steak was extremely salty as well as the frites. I will not go back there.
Great food, awesome service, cool vibe, had to sit outside but ok.
We sat outside in the patio that had been made since Covid. The stench from the local homeless person who was asking everyone for money ruined the vibe and taste of our food and drinks.
Food was good, but didn’t seem worth the price. Service was fair. We went for a birthday and reservations were even noted as such. It was a Sunday evening and the kitchen closed earlier than we anticipated. When we asked for the dessert menu, it was too late. We would have appreciated a heads up that the kitchen was closing.
The food was delicious. The outdoor seating view was beautiful and quiet.
I think they have some really tasty items form the menu. We decided to take the kids and had our Sunday dinner there this past weekend. We had $1 oysters, meatballs, and octopus. We also ordered the house bread and it was cold, maybe that's how they serve it but I thought it was going to be served warm. The octopus seemed over price for the 1 tentacle, but the $1 oysters made up for it. My son loved the SW burger and it looked amazing. The tuna tartare and scallops were ok, but my prime ribeye did not seemed like a prime steak or 14oz. It was very bland and lacked any flavor, almost seemed as if the steak was old. The fontina mash was pretty good. The fair lady drink (substituted vodka for gin) was so cute and delicious. With having Steak in their name I had high hopes and I don't know if I will ever eat a steak there again, but I was very disappointed about my steak with it especially for the price $$.
All around great food.
Delicious meal. Great service. The Brussels sprouts were amazing and and the service was fantastic. Loved the cocktails. Highly recommend.
Celebrated a special occasion with the bros. Amazing experience.
Just steps from Hermosa Pier, a nice upscale option to usual fare. Solid joint for a casual dinner
Nothing special, overpriced, old fashion sucked, filet mignon was seared too long. I’m in Hermosa constantly so I gave it a shot but I knew it would let me down. At least I tried
Service was great! Jack the bartender serves the best drinks. The food is always delicious. The oysters were fresh and the steak was cooked perfectly. Overall 10 out of 10!! Sit outside for some fun people watching as well hah!
This has become our new favorite restaurant because of Clark’s fantastic service and the amazing food! Steaks are tender and flavorful, Brussel sprouts crispy, tender and just a touch sweet, and the bread perfect! Tonight they were sweet enough to hold our reservation a few minutes when we were running late. We will not expect that always, but it was greatly appreciated!
Clark = excellence! Awesome bartender/server! The hostess whom we asked to please wipe our table down in between courses acted if she was above doing that even though she helped clear the table. When she sprayed the table with god knows what chemicals way above the table it got onto us and into our adult beverages! She was clearly annoyed!
The salmon and Halibut dishes were off the charts phenomenal! The lobster Mac n cheese was very bland and we struggled to find a hint of lobster.
Overall a yes we will be back restaurant!
