Steak 48 - Houston Ratings and Reviews
I went for birthday. It was a great atmosphere and ambiance and very private. I got the ribeye and it was just good, wasn't great. The creamed spinach was very good. The double baked truffle potatoes were just ok for the price. I plan to go back to try something different. Everyone loves it so I wanted to try but I wasn't impressed with the food. I was however impressed with the "experience."
The food was outstanding. The service somewhat slow. But the dining room and tables are just too over-crowded. People constantly keep apologizing for bumping onto your chair, servers have a difficult time navigating thru the small spaces left between tables and to make things worse for my wife and me there was a constant wind chill coming thru our table every time somebody opened the entrance door so my wife had to keep a jacket on only on the side facing the door. (This happen on a day that outside temperature was in the high 30's)
Steak 48 is always excellent. I have dined there multiple times for various occasions and they have never failed to deliver amazing service and extraordinary food. The prices are a little high, but you are getting what you pay for! The staff knows their menu very well and offer great wine suggestions. You definitely won't regret dinner at Steak 48.
The noise level was crazy, I booked that it was for a date night. We were seated in the back by two families with 4-6 kids. Really was above the noise level as kids kept coming in and out of that area playing and just being kids. Not a ideal area for a date though, was looking for quiet intimate area to dine.
The highlight of the evening was Cale our server, by far the best server I’ve ever had. We ordered 2 jumbo shrimp and 2 orders of 2 showed up. Cale automatically caught it and gave them to us on the house. Said it’s on Steak 48 since we didn’t order it. The bone in ribeye, and filet mignoin was outstanding and cooked to our desire. The desserts were crazy good, we had a red velvet, and a vanilla cake for desserts. Fantastic!!! The drinks were very well done! I thought Cale and the food would bring me back, just would like to experience it where I can here my spouse talk and not here kids and loud parental not to say that family time is bad, just saying I chose to leave my kids behind. Bill was around $300, normally we spend around $500-$550 every three weeks for date night. I like to splurge with a nice $200-$300 bottle of wine.
First time to dine at Steak 48 and we will definitely be back. Very hip and energetic. Steaks were cooked to perfection. Good wine list and variety of side dishes. Service was outstanding. Only negative is the bathrooms. They only have 3 and each is for an individual. So odds are you'll be waiting in a line.
Hands down the best meal I have ever had. Ever. The steaks were cooked perfectly. Our waiter was extremely attentive and answered all of our questions and concerns. A hand-written birthday card was a sweet touch, as well as our birthday dessert. The wagyu filet was buttery and soft. The breads were amazing and soft. The asparagus fries were crisp and delicious. The black truffle baked potato was amazing and cheesy. And the gruyere mac and cheese was to die for. I could not imagine a bettet atmosphere and service. The noise level was a little high, but manageable. I really wish I could remember our server's name from Saturday night, because he was the best, right down to the cute tiny chocolate chip cookies he gave us at the end of the night. I hope to be back soon.
This was me and my wife’s first time going, and we both fell in love with the food, and the atmosphere! This place has Awesome vibes and excellent service. We will most definitely be returning with friends and family! Thank you all for major love towards us, made us feel welcomed❤️
My wife and I went here for our 1 year anniversary. The food was amazing and our server was great and went above and beyond our expectation. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and are planning to come back. Great restaurant for special occasions.
Fantastic steaks and service, we will return to sample some of the other offerings.
I just have one major complaint, there is no waiting area and no lobby area.
When you enter there is no space to get to the reception desk with people milling about and also wine drinkers selecting wine from the rack at the point of entrance. To leave the place you have to run a gaunlet through a thin corridor with waiting people on both sides.
Finally made it to this place with my boyfriend after al,ost a year of saying we were going. It’s very impressive on the inside with a large bar area and intimate lighting. The service was impeccable. Steak was ok but the side dishes really shined. The corn crime brûlée was amazing.
I did not make this reservation, many weeks before, to be seated in the bar area when the second floor was practically empty. At least they should have asked me if I wanted to be seated in the bar area.
The food was good, but there are many restaurants that have good food and what makes the difference between a good restaurant and an ok restaurant is the overall experience.
Unfortunately your restaurant is an ok rest.
From when we arrived the service was excellent everyone one from the door to the private dining area greeted us and thanked us for dining with them. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and what would be good ideas to try we were extremely happy with everything he recommended, our birthday dinner for 2 went off without a hitch thanks to steak 48.
Very disappointed. We were very excited to try a new steakhouse on our annual trip for Thanksgiving & our Anniversary, but were extremely disappointed in the treatment we received. We were seated in a very large room with only 3 other tables, all of which were almost on dessert. The hostess tried to seat us in the middle of the room. I asked for a table on the side & she left us standing there for 5 minutes to go ask if she could give us one. Our waiter took forever to take our drink order. My husband told a server we felt like we were being punished for being seated in a room all by ourselves (there was only one table left at this point). My husband said it felt like we were in a banquet hall, to which the waiter replied, "that's funny because this is our banquet room." They said they would get us another table. That took almost 30 minutes. We kept watching other tables being seated in the other room while we waited. They finally moved us and then we had to watch as the waiters talked to the manager. I felt like they thought we were causing a problem. The entrees came & the food was good, but by this point we were very uncomfortable. We kept watching MORE tables being seated in this main room with people wearing untucked Nautica shirts, backwards baseball caps & flip flops. We were dressed very well, so it just added to the embarrassment of being cast off into some room as an afterthought. We couldn't understand why we were ever put in the Banquet room if no other people were going to be seated in there. We were given different excuses, none of which made sense. The manager finally came over at the end of our meal to apologize and offer to pay for our appetizers and desserts. Again, it seemed like an afterthought. He could have checked on us as soon as we sat down to see if we were okay, but he wanted to get out of the situation with as little interaction as possible.
Everything was amazing from the time we came in to the time we left. It was my husbands birthday and they gave him a card from the manager. The waiter was very knowledgeable about drinks and food. They completely catered to us and everyone was polite. The food was so delicious. This was the best restaurant I have ever been to.
