We can’t say enough good things about this charming neighborhood establishment. Rustic sophistication defined. Hearty dishes that always please. We had move away for a few years and yesterday was our first time back since our return. The swordfish is now prepared medallion style with an olive topping that is absolutely mouthwatering. Dominique provides excellent service! We’ll definitely be asking for him on our next visit!
we had a great time
Food was excellent. Service was exemplary. Our server was knowledgeable and helpful and even brought us champagne on the house to help us celebrate our countdown to marriage.
Always a pleasure to dine at the State of Grace. The food, service, and ambience is always excellent. Our favorite restaurant in Houston.
had chicken salad. The presentation was beautiful! Substance mediocre. Mostly lettuce, very little chicken. Certainly not chicken salad. Would call it a green salad with chicken.
We had a lovely evening. The food was wonderful, the staff wonderful. If there was anything to complain about it would be that we couldn't see the menu to order without our phone flashlights~
Really enjoyed date night. Food was amazing. My wife had the red fish and it was unbelievable. Also really liked the roasted oysters. Service was fantastic. Tables were spaced out.
We were visiting our son and daughter-in-law in Houston. Being from Atlanta, we know well Chef Ford Frye and his excellent reputation. We were excited to try his Houston restaurant and we were not disappointed. The cocktails and wine were amazing, perfectly complementing each dish. We had the octopus and several other starters. All were excellent. For dinner, we all tried something different: the chicken, the steak, the redfish and the pasta. We all shared bites and each dish was amazing! When the waiter found out we were celebrating our son and daughter-in-law's 6 month anniversary and our 36th year anniversary, he brought out champagne and dessert on the house! Mitchell(?) went above and beyond to make this a special evening. If you are from the Houston area, you have got to try this restaurant! If you are ever visiting Houston, this needs to be one of your destinations! We'll be back!
I love this restaurant so I brought two of my girlfriends in for a nice dinner. Everything was outstanding!
Boyfriend’s birthday. He loves this place now. Lol
Awesome customer service!! And as always, the food was fabulous!!!
Yet again State of Grace doesn’t disappoint. We had a great brunch date. Our server remembered us from our first visit and even remembered the items we ordered and how we liked them. The food is great, but you have to limit to once a week for the sake of not over indulging. Yes, the food is that good. The ambience is great and the restaurant practices great social distancing measures so it’s a safe and enjoyable dining experience. The manager came over to check on us during both of our visits and the even the valet worker is friendly and on point (make sure you tip)
Great food. Eclectic menu. Never disappoints. The smoked oysters are incredible. So is everything else. Make sure you have dessert too.
Always a great time. I really only go to the Oyster room so that is what I have to review. Great time. Good food.
one of the best in Houston
Staff was very friendly, and restaurant was clean. The food tasted great, will be back soon.
As usual, our experience was amazing! We never have anything but first class service and food. Our favorite restaurant in Houston!
Exceptional dining experience in every possible way. We love State of Grace!
Fantastic as always and very, very quiet on a Sunday night. Safely spaced and observing all standard COVID precautions. Enjoyed a huge fresh oyster spread plus a few appetizers. Squash salad was a standout. One of our favorite restaurants in town.
Perfect for celebrating our 30th anniversary during Covid times. Good social distancing, excellent wait staff, delicious meal.
State of Grace never disappoints. It is our absolute favorite choice in Houston or for that matter anywhere. My wife and I after a long covid period of not eating out made a reservation and were lucky enough to grab 2 seats at the bar (our choice as we had a table) for a wonderful evening. Before dinner drinks were perfect and I think we tried every appetizer on the menu paired with a wonderful bottle of Cab Franc wine selected by Matt. Every dish from the smoked oysters to the squash blossoms were prepared and served to perfection. I have dined at State of Grace several times and each visit continues to amaze us. I highly recommend this restaurant.
What a wonderful experience! I love the selection of oysters and fabulous tasting food. With such a great ambiance and service, we will continue to come back again and again!
Staff were attentive, the surroundings plush but welcoming, great food.
Always enjoy State of Grace! Never lets us down and wonderful food, drinks, atmosphere.
State of Grace treats its guests like family. Always checking in on our table but never over-hovering.
They always remember our favorite menu preferences, but also offer new suggestions. The oyster happy hour That includes colder region oysters was spot ON this week, btw.
I was able to entertain and do business with a team director for a member of the U.S. Senate and talk shop in a relaxing, quiet space.
Thank you, Matt and Sofia, form your awesome help and for keeping the dining room elegant yet super-clean!
Love y’all bunches—Tammy D.
The service was okay, the food and ambience were great though.
We try to dine there whenever we’re in this part of town which is seldom because we live in Sugar Land. We always enjoy our experience there primarily because of their exquisite comfort food and outstanding service.
One of the best restaurants in Houston. I love their new food, but did miss the hush puppies.
Went for a date night. Love this place. They are following the covid protocol to a T! Felt safe. Everyone was distanced appropriately. And on top of that, the food was fresh and amazing!!
Delicious food, great atmosphere and wonderful service!
Excellent service and decadent food. Our waiter was very nice and patient.
This is our go-to spot for special occasions or just when a relaxing, friendly meal out is needed. Thank goodness for State of Grace!
Lovely restaurant and staff, nothing was too much for them to do. Reminded me of a little piece of Scotland in Houston.
Always a great time—missed our favorite spot. The new social distancing measures make you feel comfortable, while enjoying the best oysters and food in Houston.
We have not been to State of Grace in a while but our experience was excellent. Our server Sophia was fantastic; she answered all of our questions, made suggestions and was very pleasant throughout our visit.
We went here for our anniversary and were treated to a truly memorable evening. Goose was our server and he was attentive and proactive. We started with 2 dozen happy hour oysters. Fresh and great flavor! The seasonal Texas Peach appetizer was off the charts with a depth of flavors and the redfish had an outstanding presentation coupled with another round of flavors. Stuffed squash blossoms and eggplant were a perfect compliment. Chef Bobby Matos displayed his talent in every dish. This is a must for any food lover.
The venue was quiet when we first arrived so we had our pick of tables.
Was served promptly and the oysters were excellent as well as the cocktails.
A lovely choice for an evening out after adhering to pandemic rules since March. My first nice night out restaurant since then and I wasn't disappointed. Very comfortable seating.
