DIVER SCALLOPS WERE AMAZING!!
Had a quick Sunday dinner out. Surprised they had the full menu available since it’s usually Sunday Supper. The 2 of us shared hush puppies (so good!), beet salad, campechana, Red fish on the 1/2 shell. Everything was fantastic. Service was very attentive but not overbearing. Love the ginger snap creme pie cookies they give you when you leave.
I’ve enjoyed dinning here on several occasions, 1st time for brunch , it was very tasty as my 7 yr old stated. Food was great I let him try some new things. Ambiance was very nice ! Service was Superb. Colby was our server , very accommodating! Well be back !
Wonderful location and service! delicious oysters unlikely I choose a dish to spicy for my taste...
Th food was delicious. We got the Hushpuppies and Roasted Oysters for our appetizer and loved both. For dinner we had the Porterhouse steak with Roasted Oak Broccoli and Root Vegetable Gratin also delicious. They make really good drinks too. I loved the Southside Antique and they make a really good Old Fashioned and Buffalo Speedster. Cant wait to go back for Brunch.
This was our second trip. The first, we experienced the seafood entrees and this trip we enjoyed the steak entrees. The only reason I gave 5 stars is it didn't ask for 6. The food is incredibly good. The sides are so tasty and compliment the dishes so well. This is going to be our favorite "go to" for fine dining. PS: the roasted oysters are a must!
Excellent but needs some entrees in the $20-$35 range beyond chicken.
Andrew, the manager, made our dining experience amazing.
Perfect Spot for a Special Night Out
We went based on the reviews and were not disappointed. The wait staff were attentive and friendly. The food was outrageously good. We even tried the black rice and loved it! That black rice was a first for us and it was probably the highlight of our dinner. The huge Porterhouse wasn't bad either. Ha ha! All around a wonderful experience.
The food and service were great!
We came to State of Grace for friend’s birthday celebration. Jade was a wonderful server - very attentive to our needs. The cocktails were great. The food was delicious. From the oysters to the beet salad to the steaks to the amazing sides to the sticky toffee pudding, we enjoyed every bite. Wine menu was full of wonderful choices too. Overall a great night out in a beautiful atmosphere. Will be back!!!
Great food and service in a beautiful restaurant. What more could you ask for?
Wonderful place. Great wine list and attentive but not overly service. Loved all the things we tried
Phenomenal experience for my business partner for our special event. The service was exemplary.
Another great dinner at SOG. Food, service, and attention to detail are well executed on every visit. Our waiter Chris was on his game, as he usually is. Food was out standing, the oysters, the Stracci(wild boar bolognese), the Pansotti(butternut squash ravioli), and the roasted root vegetables were all outstanding. Never had a dish here we haven’t liked.
State of Grace consistently delivers an excellent experience - the food was delicious and service attentive without hovering. One of my favorite houston spots. Best oysters in the city.
The food, people were fantastic. Whom ever plated the salads did n excellent job with the presentation.
Wonderful experience!
We were seated promptly for our reservation. Service was great. At the recommendation of the server we tried octopus for the first time and were surprisingly pleased. It was very good. We ordered black rice to compliment the octopus and it was delicious. I had redfish which was good. It was light and citrusy. I prefer more of the Louisiana style with crab and cream sauce. My husband had the spinalis which is the tender part of a ribeye. It was delicious. We had a brownie sundae for dessert and it was absolutely fabulous! Loved the atmosphere for a date night. Would definitely go back.
Delicious, unique dishes you won't find elsewhere.
I love going to this place for special occasions!!
The food was delicious and the service was incredible! Really enjoyed our time there. We were not hurried along and there was adequate space between the other patrons.
This place is amazing! The service was off the charts and the personal attention was stellar . Delicious food and unique menu. Highly recommend the “hush puppies “ and the broccoli!
The experience here was great from start to finish. Immediately upon entering the restaurant I noticed the warm ambiance and well spaced parties. We were greeted by some kind hosts who immediately started prepping our table even though we were early. They acknowledged it was our anniversary right away!
We were led back to an intimate corner booth lit by candlelight. Our server was quick to greet us and surprised us with some bubbly to celebrate. He was professional, timely, and offered high quality service all throughout the night.
The food itself was amazing. The gulf oysters were fresh, the pansotti was the perfect savory and sweet combination (with tender pasta made in house), and the snapper was an interesting combination of Thai and American flavors. We ordered some house fries for the side and loved the bernaise and chervil flavors. The toffee pudding put the cherry on top, you really can’t go wrong.
I look forward to returning to try the other dishes and will definitely consider here for my next occasion.
The atmosphere and service was amazing. Wine and oysters were delicious! We will be back!
We came in for our anniversary and we were treated so well by the staff from the start.
Our server Dominic helped us tremendously in our order and was fantastic. He went above and beyond to give us a fantastic experience.
The food was delicious and we had a nice meal alone together and much appreciated time spent enjoying the great ambiance.
We are already making plans to return in a few weeks for our valentine day date night.
Overall a very nice restaurant with great staff. I personally had what I’d believe to be a one off issue with a steak that night which was corrected. Order the oysters they don’t disappoint.
A very nice dining experience. Romantic setting which seems much more private than most restaurants. Our second experience there and has become our favorite for fine dining in Houston.
One of the best restaurants in Houston. Excellent oyster selection
Excellent service and atmosphere. Food was good, but not quite rave worthy.
My wife and I dined in for our anniversary, and the food lived up to the hype. We went with the recommendations of our server Paul, and he could not have been more spot-on with the dishes.
My wife never had oysters before so I went with the roasted ones just to be easy on her, and she loved them. We also had beef wagyu tartare, and it was exquisite (minor nitpicking: would’ve preferred more beef). We went with the lasagnette for the second course. The truffles made that dish excellent. That dish isn’t the most bang for the buck, but the taste made it worthwhile.
Finally, my wife went with the Spinalis, and it really was a prime cut of ribeye as Paul said. She also had the Szechuan Eggplant as her side. I’m not huge on ginger so I gave it a B+, but with the sauce, that bumped it up to an A-. For my entrée, I had the seared diver scallops, and they were the best I’ve ever had. Paul gets top marks for that suggestion. It really went well with the bacon borracho beans and fries (with béarnaise sauce) that I chose for the side. For drinks, my wife and a syrah, and I had a Shiner because, well, she married a brown redneck apparently.
To top it all off, we had a really pretty anniversary chocolate brownie sundae. It was a nice capper on the whole evening. My wife looked like a kid in a candy store the whole time, and that’s all a guy could want. I really like how the menu offers a little bit of everything without making a proletariat like me feel out of place. We couldn’t have had a better experience.
Oh, and they decided to make us fatter by offering us a complimentary box of ginger doozies as we left. Thank you, management and staff.
Excellent, as usual. The New Years prix fixe menu was outstanding and the execution could not have been better. Probably the best overall meal we have had at the SOG. Hats off to the chefs and staff. Highly recommend this restaurant.
I enjoyed the variety and exceptional preparation of the food. This was my third visit, can’t wait for the forth!
Amazing from top to bottom. Matthew and Michael gave us world class service. The food and drinks were incredible.
It was great! Food and service was amazing!!
My wife and I absolutely loved the time we spent here. Being stationed overseas and eating a lot of sea food I can say this was hands down better than I could have imagined.
Wonderful place with romantic ambiance, and excellent food and service.
Once again, this restaurant is delivering top quality food and service! Have dined many times but never on a Sunday, which can be an off day for many restaurant Chefs and key employees but there was no loss in service or food quality... we had an excellent evening and everyone enjoyed the meal.. my only comment would be the menu seems a tad bit fish and steak based compared with prior offerings... wine list is still exceptional with very reasonable prices...
The food is AMAZING. The customer service is INCREDIBLE. The ambiance is SO INVITING. Honestly, this was one of the best restaurants I've been to since the start of the pandemic. Our waiters were accommodating, thoughtful, and knowledgeable of the menu.
It was perfect. Sat at the bar for dinner. Will do it again as soon as possible
