We had an amazing dinner experience!! The food was great! The service was outstanding!! We will definitely be back!!
Everything was ok... what I was expecting it was as excellent. Although there was not as many people there yet we had to wait for food for like an hour for the main coarse and 30 mins for an appetizer. The waiter didn’t check on us we had to try to get her attention. The steak I had ordered was burned and dry.
Always a delicious meal and impeccable service. For breakfast the wrap & overnight oats are my favorites. For lunch I like the chicken chop chop and quonia salads but have never had a bad meal.
I was very satisfied with the service and the food! The food was well prepared, on the staff was super friendly!
State Grill is a "go tp" place for good food in a pleasant decor with helpful stall. One can not ask for more. I recommend the grilled halibut as a main course.
Great food and was welcomed for our honeymoon dinner. We traveled from Oregon.
GREAT food. Would recommend doing a combo with the Empire State Building for a bit of a discount.
Our first time at the restaurant. Food and service was wonderful. We will definitely be back for more!!!
Waiter was flip and surly. Service was slow. When we asked for the check - we had the prix fix dinner - he had to get a manager to calculate the check which took about 20 minutes. The check was calculated with a 20% gratuity with no warning on the menu which I resent. It is usually mentioned on the menu and is normally for large parties. When the credit card slip came back for signature, there was a line for the tip. I’m sure that without any warning, many will leave the customary amount without realizing they’ve already been charged. We were a party of 3. Not a place I’d return to or recommend. They also book through Open Table but don’t give points.
Steak was simply ok. Menu very limited.
Wonderful place to eat; music and voices loud, but we were sitting close to the bar!
We thoroughly enjoyed it!
Nice setting. Helpful friendly staff. Food good but not out of this world. Steak was slightly cooler than I'd have liked.
My clients were very impressed by the menu especially the chicken chop chop, which they both had. I had the quinoa bowl which I love. Service by Luis is always the best.
Honestly our service from our waiter was less than average. Our reservation was at 8:30pm. Restaurant was not that busy at that time, with 3 empty tables near us. We were so excited for our food and the ambiance from what we read online and he just put a damper on it. Not really towards us per say but maybe just a "didn't want to be there" attitude more than anything. No enthusiasm, no extras just basic service: take your order, get your drink, bring your check. Would it keep us from coming back there, probably not, but it would've made our experience there 5 stars all around if he would've been more friendly. Food was absolutely amazing though hands down the best short ribs we have ever had. Kudos to your chefs.
We enjoyed the Prix fixe dinner option. The grilled shrimps and the crab cake were delicious for our appetizers. We both loved the beef short ribs entree. The meat was so tender and delicious. The desserts we had were both out of this world. We split the triple chocolate mousse cake and the creamsicle semifreddo. Well worth the money and all courses were delicious. Highly recommended.
It was great!
Booked the STATE Grill & Bar Prix Fixe Dinner for our visit from UK.
The restaurant was delightful and the food excellent. The whole experience was made memorable by superb service. Thank you.
The staff and service was exceptional!
Not too far from TS
Delicious food especially The New York steak
Quite relax environment
Food was amazing. The drink Empire 48 is my new favorite! Can’t wait to come back!
I took my 82 year old father on a bucket list trip to NYC to see the Empire State Building. We did the VIP tickets, then had lunch at STATE, as I didn’t want to go far with my dad’s limited mobility. STATE was perfect! The service was amazing, with a patient and kind waiter, who understood that my dad had difficulty hearing and was a little picky/opinionated about his food. The waiter’s recommendations were spot on and our meal was delicious. I expected the restaurant to be a bit of a “tourist trap” but we appeared to be the only ones who weren’t there on a business lunch. Overall, a wonderful experience!!!
The Prix-fixe tickets are total worth it. The menu options are robust and the food tasted great. The service was outstanding.
Had three course prix fixe menu. Very good food cooked well and presented very well too. Service was right prices as you would expect. Would eat here again.
The food and service was top notch definitely we’ll be coming back.
Service and food was exceptional.
Great service and great food!
The restaurant misleads patrons as I believed the restaurant would be at the top of the building where we would be able to observe from the “observatory” the views of the city while we ate.
The burger ordered “medium well” came out raw and the first bite squeezed the meat out of the bun because the meat wasn’t cooked to be able to hold together.
If you bundle your tickets for the Observatory with the restaurant, the menu seems reasonable, but the options for the bundled package turned out to be greasy and salty. When the server learns your meal is part of the package, you get lesser service than patrons eating from the regular menu. I never had my drink refilled and the server only asked about a refill at the end of the meal.
Great atmosphere. The guy serving me helped choosing the right thing to eat and he was super kind. Really suggested.
Steak was cooked incorrectly. Customer did not receive new dish despite multiple requests to staff till just before we needed to leave for show. Manager did remove the steak from the bill.
Very nice place, good food. Fantastic service. Great way to get dinner before heading up to the observatory.
If you are in the Empire State building and would like a nice dinner the State Grill is where I would go.
I had the New York steak and my wife had the spaghetti. Both were superb. Went early on a Saturday evening and we got right it.
Grt biz lunch spot! Food and service were excellent. A tad noisy but It worked for our business luncheon.
Good overall experience. Food was tasty, service very attentive.
They allow me to use my Prix Fixe lunch voucher as dinner with several conditions. This is good for me to consume this voucher which I accidentally booked. The waiters serve very well. The food is also delicious, and I'll definitely recommend this restaurant to my family and friends.
This visit was for a group of four for lunch. We were excited that the restaurant was in the Empire State Building, and I'm not sure what we expected, but once inside the restaurant, you really could be anywhere in Manhattan. The restaurant has a kind of old-school Manhattan feel, elegant and refined, and the food was a good fit with that theme. Staff were welcoming and professional, and we never felt rushed, even though we stayed and chatted for a while after we finished dining. All the dishes were very good, all of us had the variety of salads available. There was nothing too daring, but all the salads were delicious and well-executed. There was one standout, the Cream of Corn Chowder. It was superb, The dish was redolent of fresh, sweet corn, with a velvety texture and long finish. There was a fresh corn garnish, and for having this soup in May in NYC, I don't know how they got this corn so fresh. I'm from California, where we are getting fresh corn now, and the corn had that fresh, crisp flavor. Lovely.
Best spaghetti in NYC (handcut and thin!!)
Lovely dinner with great food.
The service and food are always on point. The staff go out of their way to make sure you have a great experience.
