It was great
Great experience with food and service!
The fish was extremely fresh and well prepared. The service was outstanding! Our waiter went the extra mile by making blue cheese olives for a martini and even made an alternate suggestion when asked about a dish. Glad I took his advice.
Thanks for the great review, SMU89! We're glad that you enjoyed your time at State Fare and that your server was able to make the experience even better! Hope you'll visit us again soon.
Service was slow, food was lukewarm. Order came out incorrect, hostess made sure to correct the order and expedited. First time I had brunch there, probably last time.
Not great service and bland food
We were looking for someplace we haven't been and decided on State Fare since we were going to a movie nearby. The restaurant is clean, comfortable, and relaxing. John, our server, was terrific. He gave us lots of good suggestions and directed us to appetizers and entrees that were great. The food was fresh, hot, served in a timely manner, and tasted of high-quality. John kept a great pace and we felt neither rushed nor neglected. We'll be adding State Fare to our list!
Thanks for the great review and feedback, Busyguy7447! We're glad that you enjoyed your experience at State Fare and glad to hear John was so helpful during your visit. Hope you'll come again soon!
Overall very good experience.
Only negative: Our reservations were at 8:30. Felt rushed as they close early @ 9:00. Only had one dessert available when we were ready to order. All others had already been discarded. Suggest they extend their hours or not accept reservations after 8:00.
The food is very overpriced and tasted okay but nothing special. We got the Dill Pickle dip that the server raved about and it was basically ranch dressing with a little dill in it - nothing pickle tasting at all. I got the Dixie Burger - it was ok, but the meat was very dry. I can get better food for much less money at a lot of other restaurants.
We came to celebrate my birthday and they seated us in a place where there wasn’t a lot of noise. Our waiter, Michael, was outstanding!! He added a lot of fun to our meal. Food was fabulous! We liked it so much that we are going back in Dec for another birthday celebration!
Food was delicious excellent service
Server was rude and bothered
Great food, drinks and service. Top notch experience. Great job State Fare!
Over all the experience was good!! The noise level was a bit loud so not ideal for an intimate date if that’s what you are looking for. The food has been great every time I’ve been there.
Thanks for the great review and feedback! We're glad that you enjoyed your experience at State Fare. Hope you'll come again soon.
State Fare is one of my favorite places to dine on the West side of Houston.
Thanks for the great review, dmgbrown! Hope you come again soon!
Food And service were great. The noise level is what keeps it from being excellent.
Thanks for the great review and feedback, Mikeypie!
I had a reservation for 1pm but wasn't seated until about 15 after. I was tempted to leave but decided to stay. The noise level was a bit much for me. My husband had the pancake, which he seemed to like. I had the gumbo which had a roux that was a bit too dark for me. Nevertheless, it was pretty good. I think it would be better with shredded chicken instead of cubed. Not too sure if I'd return.
The Vegan/Vegetarian menu needs to be expanded.
Food was bland and not very warm. Screaming kids and loud adults made the experience less enjoyable.
First time at State Fare for Saturday brunch and was pleasantly surprised. The mimosa flight was a hit and lots of options to pick from for the brunch menu. My friend and I went to celebrate her graduation and it was an overall nice experience.
We We’re hoping for a fun birthday celebration but it took forever to get served, and forever to get our food. Our waiter was extremely kind but was trying to take care of too many tables. In a restaurant with prices like this, I would have expected team service and managerial presents. Usually there would be someone to come by and refill water glasses an offer more beverages. We had to ask for a birthday dessert rather than be offered a birthday dessert. In a restaurant with prices like this, I would have expected team service and managerial presence. The food was good but not worth the money! I do not think I would go back.
I visited for the first time on a Monday and it was pretty dead. Despite that, it was extremely loud and service was extremely slow - especially considering we just ordered an appetizer and drinks. I did like the restaurant's decor - very pretty and modern, and parking is easy.
The place has good food and quick service, but the restaurant is very noisy.
Such a cute place. That pancake is insane and soooo delicious
A good variety of food on the menu. Drinks are good. But the foods are a bit on the heavy taste, but that's what southern cajun usually taste like.
Great food. Great servers and drinks. Sweet and helpful staff. Cute decor. Pretty trendy restaurant. Parking is a little difficult if you choose not to valet.
Astros and Bday
Portions are small, but that is true everywhere these days. One of our favorite restaurants in Houston.
Food was very good, as always! Our service started out pretty good but declined in timeliness during the course of the meal. Sat outside so it was fairly quiet - perfect weather for it!
Food and service was outstanding
The food was amazing! Service was a bit slow but worth the wait. I recommend making reservations and all members of the party arrive at the same time else you can’t be seated. Luckily my party arrived within ten minutes of the reservation so not a big deal because the bar and bartenders were amazingly attentive.
Great food with good service
Delicious salmon over asparagus dish and fried green tomatoes as appetizers. Fantastic wait staff.
I LOVE State Fare and can't wait for the Sugarland location to open. I have been three times so far and each time have had a lovely experience. The food is always delicious and inventive. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable.
First time dining here. Service was remarkable. Was running just a little late for the reservations. Called and spoke with the hostess explained we were running about ten minutes behind schedule. We were meeting some great friends for dinner , I asked her to please have them seated and order them drinks , we would be there shortly. Arrived our friends were seated and enjoying a cocktail when we arrived. I thanked her very much and took care of her for her immediate response. Waitress was a true pleasure. New the menu and made some suggestions all which were spot on. Food was excellent and we ordered across the board as none of us eaten here before. It was overall a very pleasurable experience and will definitely be back. The to go desserts were Wow !!!
The food was very good. I appreciate the timing of placing orders, delivery of food, etc. It made it so we didn’t feel like we were being rushed out.
Wait staff was very attentive and knowledgeable, had the chili Frito pie for an appetizer and was very good and unique. Main dishes were well prepared, and desserts very imaginative. Overall a very good experience. It is a little loud.
Interesting and varied menu. Some of the dishes were definitely better than others.
State Fare has been among my favorite restaurants since they opened. I try to eat there at least once a month. Last night was my first negative experience there. We made a reservation for 7:30, arrived on time, ordered an appetizer, 2 glasses of wine a salad and a plate. The appetizer arrived on time, as well as the wine, but the rest of the order never made it to our table. I asked the waiter to check on our order after waiting for over 30 minutes. He checked and said it would be just a few more minutes for our food. We started noticing that four tables that arrived after us were getting their meals on a timely manner. Another 15 minutes passed and our food did not arrive. I ended up asking the waiter to cancel the rest of our order. I had never walked out of State Fare before. It was very frustrating and disappointing.
A great place to catch up with a girlfriend! The wine was the best, and the food even better!
The food was very good. Portion sizes wre generous. Our waitress Vaness was also very good. The noise level however was very loud. It was very difficult to carry on a conversation because of how loud the restaurant was at 3 o'clock in the afternoon on a Sunday. We will go back maybe just not during a peek time on a Sunday afternoon!
