State Bird Provisions
Probably the BEST service I have ever had! Waiters were around at any given moment to help you or offer more a la carte dishes. I have a fish allergy so it’s usually an issue at restaurants, but not at all at State Bird Provisions. Super accommodating and attentive. Honestly felt like we were the only people there, even though the restaurant was packed! Every single dish was reimagined and delicious. An amazing experience overall and highly recommend to anyone looking for a beautiful night. What a treat!
Literally the best meal I’ve ever had. Everything was so well done and the staff was so helpful.
The best restaurant in San Francisco by a huge margin
It never disappoints, the food, the service the whole experience!
It was alright, and super cool idea to have American dim sum. But overrated and the food was overall pretty weird and unsatisfying.
Our servers were awesome - super friendly and knew their sh*t! 😊👍🏻
We had friends from out of town so we took them here. We all had a blast trying all the different foods. Everything we tried was seriously delicious. I loved the concept of bringing dishes to the table to try with the price tag on them while also having a small menu to order from. The place was very open and loud but that only added to the fun. We had a great time here! I would definitely go back.
Food was delicious and it was fun concept.. they served yummy small serving like tapas.. The service is great .. friendly staffs ... will i come back again when i visit to SF .. definitely!
I loved the concept of this restaurant with the dim sum cart, etc. everything happened too fast, though. I would suggest only ordering one dish at a time to allow the flexibility to take something from the cart and judge your satiation level. The flavors were great and the food was beautiful and creative.
The food was very creative and inviting; execution was uneven, but when they nailed it the food was fantastic, and it was all good. Sat at the counter and enjoyed the kitchen show.
Great food. Love the way it is served-American dim sum. Only negative- way too noisy.
Amazing as always
such an amazing restaurant and special experience. The staff was kind, the food delicious, and the wines perfectly selected. Great ambiance, culture, style, etc. loved it. It is expensive... but it should be.
You will not be disappointed the talented chefs cook food with a lot of love. Sharing with a friend or lover will create a memory
Amazing restaurant. Perfect every time.
The music is too loud. And they were playing very grating heavy metal style music. Not appealing. The food is tasty and inventive, but much of it is deep fried.
Absolutely everything was outstanding. We started with drinks next door at the sister restaurant progress. Each drink was unique and delicious unlike anything we have had somewhere else. Once we were seated we ordered the state bird with provisions and the sourdough sauerkraut pancakes off the menu and proceeded to order one of everything from the dim sum carts as they came by. Everything was phenomenal but at the top of the list as different unusual and we went back and ordered three more times was the sourdough sauerkraut pancakes. We couldn’t get enough these were so amazing. The service and friendly staff was terrific and this was definitely one of the Mose delicious and fun restaurants that we have been to!
It was our first time coming to San Francisco. State Bird Provisions came highly recommended, and everyone we talked to said we would love it...and we did! The service was great. The person who seated us immediately asked if we had been there before, and then explained the menu, and the way the service would be. It was hard to pass up some of the items that came by, but everything we had tasted amazing. Highly recommend.
So glad we were with friends who had dined there before as it is a little overwhelming. We ordered lots and lots of the dishes that came around plus several off the menu. I suggest you go online and preview the menu. That being said I highly recommend everything! There were five of us loving everything that I never thought I’d care for. Especially the peanut milk, omg! It’s very expensive ( our bottles added up)
and totally worth the indescribable experience. Looking forward to returning.
Amazing meal. It’s becoming a habit.
We were a group of 5 and we pretty much tasted everything in the dimsum style service and also ordered some dishes from the menu. Every dish was astounding and the biggest surprise was the bill. Very reasonable by SFO standards for the quality of food.
We were really looking forward to and interesting and delicious dinner. What we got was just the opposite. Only two of the 12 dishes we selected were enjoyed. Some of the dishes were extremely salty, cold, and just not delicious. Service was on and off by our main waiter however there were friendly highlights from other waiters who are presenting the food tableside. I enjoyed the wine that I selected and that was really about it. State bird provisions was the worst dinner we had on our 5-day trip to San Francisco.
This was hands down the best food and overall dining experience we had in the City. The flavor! The textures! Served with a mix of custom ordering and dim sum experience. Friendly service, intimate dining. I love the way they have arranged the tables and booths. Also a good value for the quality. My new favorite restaurant.
Incredibly unique experience, unique wine selection and delicious food. We loved it!
Amazing value, so much food for a reasonable price.
Best meal ever!! I loved how awesome the staff is. a 5 star dining experience with the pretentiousness! We sat at the counter, it’s was nice to see how hard everyone works and how the magic (food) is made! Can’t wait to try everything on the menu.
An interesting experience with creative flavor combinations. Wasn’t blown away (except by the prices). Friendly and helpful staff made the experience enjoyable.
Often, to eat the finest meals, one must suffer stuffy, stodgy service that can make a diner somehow feel unworthy of the food. Not so at State Bird. The "dim sum" concept injects a little whimsy and informality into an absolutely top-notch fine dining experience. Seeing the dishes as they came around tempted us to try food combination we would not have selected simply from a menu description. Standouts included the guinea hen soup dumpling with it's many layered broth, the fish dip, an ice cream sandwich (available, mercifully, as a half order), the fried quail, melt-in-your-mouth short ribs, and a surprisingly interesting wedge salad. The only thing I wouldn't order again is the garlic bread with burrata. The bread was a little too hard for my taste. But at any other restaurant, it would probably be the best thing on the menu.
Always love this place. It's my favorite place to eat at in San Francisco.
Delicious as always
Servers were incredibly variable. Some were wonderful and incredibly pleasant. Others were incredibly rude and condescending.
Great atmosphere, super service, and an amazing variety of tasty bites. The best part is the food starts coming as soon as you are seated. You can choose plates when you are ready and at a pace that is perfect for you! We will definitely return, again and again. BTW many gluten free options and they take special care to inform you about every dish. I felt like the whole restaurant assited with choosing plates.
We sat at the bar seats overlooking the kitchen which was enjoyable because we interacted with the chefs who were friendly and who happily explained what they were cooking. Most plates were well thought out in concept / ingredients and they came out generally well. However, while some plates were truly outstanding others were just meh and their description sounded better than their execution. Service was definitely hit and miss. The restaurant itself is a bit small with tight quarters and rather loud. Due to the dim sum style theme of multiple dishes - often at the same time - coupled with the small space it has a frantic / frenetic energy to the dining experience. Perhaps that is on purpose to quickly rotate diners in and out all night. Its a different kind of dining experience which we appreciated trying but not for on the regular. Overall an interesting experience but there are lots of options around town.
Everything was pleasant, enjoyable and fun!
Food was innovate and unique. We really enjoyed the fried quail and the ice cream sandwiches. Staff was very accommodating.
Some of the best food you can find!
Great unusual food
Creative approach with Dim Sum style serving. Service I wouldn't exactly call with and the ambience feels a little bit "too cool for school"
It is a very casual restaurant and has a very young hip vibe; part of its charm!
An unusual formula for bringing food to a table and it all worked very well.
We thoroughly enjoyed every single offering. Many varied flavours and combinations. Overall fantastic food. I never said wow, so no 10/10 dishes but every dish was a 9.5.
Kudos to this place to create such an unusual formula; part of the overall delightful experience.
