We reserved a seat here since my sister-in-law was visiting us from out of state. We thought it would be a great way to enjoy a meal with her while we get to get out of the house. We found every single dish we ordered to be fantastic. My husband loved the Quail and I enjoyed all of my vegetarian dishes. The sauces that were served in the dishes were the best part of the night.
We enjoyed State Bird Provisions so much! Great for a group so everyone can share dishes. We were able to sample nearly the entire menu between 4 of us and had a hard time picking favorites since everything was so good!
Great food food was majority perfection. Extremely well thought-out & balanced flavors with unique character & intent. Would definitely recommend.
Food is exquisite!
Amazing food. Great service and ambience. Definitely coming back!!!
It was a very nice dining experience. Food was great. Service was warm and friendly. We’re in town for few days and so happy to try this restaurant. Will come back for sure.
I love being able to order several things off a menu (my friend and I shared 7 things, including dessert) so you don't feel like you are missing out on so much when everything looks amazing. Everything was great, we each had our favorites (trout chip n dip, ricotta pancakes, and the pavlova were mine!). It's expensive but you are paying for incredible, creative food and a special experience. Service was really fantastic.
Such an amazing meal. Everyone was so kind! We were celebrating and they made our night so special! Thank you!
The squid dish was superb and their trout dip is always excellent
My favorite restaurant in San Francisco! The parklet was beautiful with individual heaters. And of course the food and service was amazing!
The brothy beans, mushroom “inari” and lime ice cream sandwiches were all obscenely good. Wait staff were nice and helpful. Would go back, wish they had cocktails!
Find amazing food with great service at this no-fuss restaurant.
I miss the dim sum style service (and hope it returns ), still, the food is great. Loved the Albacore salad and the Meatballs. Fried rice and state bird to finish. So good.
State Bird is as good as it is always was. Better for being able to eat outside in the parklet. I hope they keep the parklet forever!!!
The food is exquisite, everything was prepared perfectly. The staff was friendly, made helpful recommendations, and provided excellent service. This is one of my favorite places to dine when visiting SF.
I really enjoyed the place. Service was spot on and informative and their duck liver mousse was heavenly.
This place is amazing in both taste and creativity - we love it and try to make this very hard to make reservation every time we are in SF . It’s amazing how the atmosphere and the crew match incredible taste and presentation of the dishes that’s always exceed the taste buds expectations
Went for my husbands birthday. We’re given a booth - very cozy and socially distanced. Food overall was very good - we ordered too much and took a lot home but enjoyed it.
Food is well worth the wait to get a reservation and the prices. Amazing flavor combinations you couldn't re-create at home, even after honing your home chef skills during COVID! Truly delicious food. Would go back in a heart beat.
It definitely lived up to its expectations. The food and the service was awesome and it is a nice friendly atmosphere.
State Bird never disappoints! Amazing food, incrediblyy kind and knowledgable service, and an unforgettable dining experience. With covid, we missed the dim-sum style cart service, but they adjusted flawlessly and we were still able to enjoy the experience. My party had someone with a nut allergy and a vegetarian, and they were very accomodating about making necessary changes for us. My favorite restaurant in San Francisco.
This was our first visit to State Bird. Outside seating was very comfortable and not too noisy despite being on a busy street. Service was excellent. Dishes are beautifully presented and very tasty. I advise focusing on many smaller dishes as they are all unique and very tasty. The Mandarin Pavlova may well have been the best dessert of my life. Not cheap but a good value for your money.
We went for an anniversary meal and everything was lovely!
Outstandingly delicious, innovative menu. Every item was flawlessly executed, with a blend of flavors that was just spectacular. Also, the restaurant has a great vibe, with great service.
Fabulous food, excellent atmosphere. Knowledgeable and friendly staff makes for a unique and highly memorable dining experience.
No carts yet because of COVID . Always my favorite !
Each dish we ordered was flavorfully delicious! It was my daughter’s 34th birthday and they brought a dessert with a sparkler on the house. We ate outside and the street was lively.
State Bird Provision is up the street from our condo. We have been here when it first open and throughout the years. Still very difficult to get a reservation last minute when friends visit, but we always enjoy a meal at this place. The staff are courteous and the dishes are flavorful. I miss the old days when they bring a tray around like the dim sum hall in Asia.
Unfortunately didn’t live up to the hype. Must have been different pre covid. I’ve been waiting for a long time to go there but everything was just kind of mhew. Not bad but not very good either.
My husband and I chose this restaurant after reading an article about the recent reopening of the place. It seemed like an ideal place to celebrate our promotions that we both got recently.
Overall, the experience was very disappointing.
1. We made a reservation with the outdoor sitting but got a table inside, next to the restroom.
2. The first waitress who greeted us and walked us through the menu was very condescending. Any question we asked (how many dishes should we order for the two of us, for example) was met with a really bad attitude, to the point of being snappy when I politely asked if I could have a drink that I ordered 15 min earlier. Not sure if that was because we both speak with an accent or she just had a bad day. We both felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. Luckily, she disappeared after a while and the rest of the staff was super friendly.
3. Two dishes were amazing! Squid salad and pancakes. What a flavor and texture! No words!!! But the rest of the food was just ok. Oxtail made my husband very very sick. He’s still recovering.
The food is amazing, unique, and an experience you should have.
Service was great and food was outstanding - definitely lived up to expectations
Superb food and better service. My favorite restaurant in SF
Service was outstanding! High touch and very friendly... The hostess worked with us to accommodate our needs. Food was high quality and pretty... could be maybe a little bit more flavorful... but overall solid. The pork belly, oxtails with fried tofu, and duck confit dumplings stood out. The carrot mochi and beef tongue buckwheat pancakes were good but not stunners... The outdoor patio area is stunning and the discreet gold quails and other state bird art was lovely. Beyond those touches, the indoor dining environment was a little plain ... pegboard ceilings and plain concrete walls... sort of an industrial chic, but I was hoping for more textures / high quality or innovative materials... and the inside is a bit cramped, though not bad for SF... the food costs were reasonable and so overall value seems excellent!
The food was as good as I remember it to the be the last time I was here. This is hands-down my favorite restaurant in SF.
With one of the most beautiful parklet setups in SF, it's a treat to dine outdoors at State Bird. The individual heat lamps warm up each table well. Service and food was spot on, as before covid. Will definitely return!
every time i am visiting from ny i try to get a table while in town
amazing every time, this time we met Adam and he was absolutely wonderful and we were able to taste alot of amazing wines while eating. ty!!!
Excellent food, phenomenal experience, but a little hard to get full without ordering the right stuff! Would go again and would definitely take any foodie here.
