The Cobb Salad
chicken, bacon, shredded cheddar, egg, cucumber, tomato, avocado, balsamic bleu cheese vinaigrette
clean, crisp, premium european lager
Service was slow. My friend asked for a coffee refill 3 times before getting one. Another friend asked half way through for extra order of chicken wings which she got when our meal was finished. Food expensive considering what we ordered. Lighting dull and could not read. Music very loud we were yelling over it. I had booked a reservation under my name when I arrived I was not registered and questioned how I had reserved table. Asked for another order of sweet potato fries as first was very skimpy and was asked why was I hungry? I found waitress rude. Will not be returning.
We sat in the corner and the lighting wasn’t the greatest and we asked for candles and our server Stephanie got right on it. The food was tasty, came out quickly and was extremely affordable.
First time dining for a couple of yurt group. We liked the food selection and tried some different items and were suitably impressed. Our Server was friendly and knowledgeable. We will return.
I specifically asked to be seated in the restaurant part at a stationary table and was actually seated at a high top in the bar area. This was a business meeting and found it quite loud. I’m a fan of the restaurant so will be back but thought I should mention. Not sure if I would do another business lunch.
The food is great!! my boyfriend has taken me here once before and i loved it so much we came back to celebrate my graduation, everything was amazing except our server was extremely snobby, she had an attitude, didn’t check up on us at all, and when we needed things we would have to wait for her to walk past and then interact with her ourselves, one of my guests even felt they were judged by her because of a mistake he had made. We can’t blame the restaurant because other than this everything was amazing and it might’ve just been a bad night for our waitress; who knows but this did lead to nobody leaving a tip whereas if she was just nice at the bare minimum she would’ve earned a great tip from a somewhat large table.
Sandy my entire meal was under cooked. For a $40 dinner, I would have expected the steak shrimp and crab cake to be cooked to perfection.
We were happy with all of the meals except for one (6oz steak was overdone). Also, the food was brought out hot and fresh, but by staff other than our server; that is totally fine but then it took a while for our actual server to come and check on us once we had our food. The steak would have been sent back if not for that wait. We also ran out of drinks and were not offered another and/or a glass of water. Overall 7.5 out of 10 but we would definitely go back.
The high table we sat at in the corner by the patio needs more lighting. Had to use the flashlight on our phones to read the menu. Waitress did bring over some candles though which helped a little.
Stopped in for light bite-great happy hour menu-taco and chicken lettuce bites awesome. Great service!
Nice atmosphere..appetizers were delicious..had a Cobb salad ..I've had this many times before at State and Main but this time the salad dressing was bland and tasteless...other than thst we thoroughly enjoyed our evening
A group from the office went to S&M for lunch, the food was great but the service and attention to the table was passable at best. We waited for around 30 minutes before our order was taken. Then one person soup was sent out to the table cold. When it came time to pay it was a little confusing with bills not balancing out. On a one hour work lunch we were at the restaurant for about an hour and a half total to have our lunch.
The staff are so pleasant but I had crab cakes and I’m sure there was no real crab! It was on coleslaw with very little flavour. My guest’s meal was a burger served on two slices of bread and not very appealing
Sorry but this menu needs an overhaul with a focus on fresh taste.
Our food was OK - fish was cold in the taco and the side rice was also served cold - Who ever heard of cold rice. A appetizer was ordered however we received it with the whole meal.
We waited a long time for food and we did get another dish for the taco however the other 3 people were done with their meals by the time we got the last dish.
We met as a party of 7 and got stuck in traffic on the hwy as we were coming from out of town. I called and the girl thanked us and said no worries. Our table was ready for us, all of the people including our waitress Stephanie were great. The only thing I didn't give it 5 stars for was that beer was on the warm side. I love my beer and it was just room temp. Otherwise, it was efficient, really fun and the food was awesome. I had the house red ale. Really good but again just a bit warm. The other drinks especially my daughter's gin and tonic cocktail was outstanding. Really enjoyed the entire visit and would return again. Thanks for a memorable evening out with family.
It was a very windy day & it was quite cold sitting in front of the glass door/window?on the middle of the left wall to the entrance. We should have asked to move elsewhere.
Our server was great, there we 7 of us 2 of which had to send thier salmon back because it wasn't cooked. The manager was nice enough to take it off the bill without being asked to. Will definitely go back
We celebrated my sister’s bachlorette dinner and had a wonderful time. The food was great and the service was excellent.
Great food. Accommodating staff. Nice interior. Would recommend to friends and would definitely go back. The chicken club was especially good.
Service absolutely WOW’d me, which is a challenging thing to do since I am in the service industry. Food was a wait but worth it when it arrived.
It was okay but the drinks are expensive. $10 plus tax for a 22oz IPA and $8 for a 16 oz Stella Artois !
Over $30 for 3 drinks.
Met friends for drinks and appetizers. Great atmosphere, excellent service by friendly staff. Recommend the Bang Bang Shrimp and the pretzel with cheese dip
We have been here before and ordered the shrimp appy, so we ordered it this time. It was over cooked, very crispy :(
I ordered the fish and chips and it was a little too greasy.
This won't stop us from coming back. Everyone has an off day :)
Food was good. Servers were awesome. We weren't ready to order right away, they brought our drinks and left us alone to talk until we were ready. I really liked that.
When I arrived there was no one to greet us or seat us. The server was lovely even though she was flirty with my date.
Server wasn’t that attentive .
Food wasn’t prepared to customer specs so some items had to be redone so some could eat & others got theirs too late to be enjoyed .
Busser placed food on table without clarifying whose order it was.
Managers need to manage your staff better or replace them with competent staff.
This was a very disappointing brunch and it was on Mother's Day. We chose State & Main for this occasion because we had been there before a couple of times and it was good. Not sure as to what was going on this time but the service was slow, they ran out of orange juice by 11:30am and my meal sat under the heat light for a long time because my eggs were all dried up. I am not normally one to complain unless things are really bad, because I get it "stuff happens" but when I brought it politely to the supervisor's attention all she said was "ya it is Mother's Day so we are really busy". Not the right answer!!! Should never be the customer's fault for the businesses issues. That is customer service 101.
reservation for 3 people. 3 meals ordered
lettuce wraps, very good, like heat, but possibly a bit too spicy
pacific noodle bowl, nice flavour, could ad as much heat as you wanted. large portion
original eggs benidict, disapointing. fruit skewer was laughable, wouldve been better to just have an orange slice on the plate. eggs benedict were fine, served with tator tots. the entire appearance was very skimpy & not filling for the price. would not order again.
the server was very good, and extremely well mannered & willing to please. unfortunately he appeared to be runoff his feet, (i believe he was also the barteneder), while other servers were hard to find & moved quite slowly
My steak salad with blue cheese was delicious. But my french onion soup was overpriced. Also, the cheese sauce for the pretzel bites was too thin and had too much beer flavour. Fonally, the tables and seats were too high. You need lower tables eith regular sized chairs.
Mothers Day dinner
Food was really good, with good value.
Was here for a family celebration and was pleased with both the service and the food. The menu has good variety and everyone was able to find something they liked.
Prices were reasonable also. Will definitely visit again.
The food was average, although the descriptions sounded delicious. My fish tacos had very little fish, and lots of lettuce.
We were 7 at a table and the waitress was wonderful. Food and drinks came quickly and she was consistent in coming to our table to make sure we had everything we needed.
Disappointed that there was no lamb and no broccolini and no hot sides available!!! How does that happen?
First time visiting State & Main and the food was surprisingly disappointing. The jalepano mac n cheese was dripping grease, the butter chicken had only a little chicken in it (mostly rice & sauce), the lamb in the lamb tacos was minimal and had very little flavour, and the ceasar salad was tiny, the equivilant of one leaf of romaine (not joking). The best part of the meal was the spicy sauce that came with the tacos. That was perfect. The atmosphere was nice, but food was so disappointing. We had higher hopes for the quality and flavour from a higher end restaurant like this.
My office around the corner. We bring clientele there for lunch every couple of weeks since it opened. Never had poor service, or been disappointed with a meal
My only complaint is we went for a long time with empty drinks, and a long time with a dessert menu that we both felt full by the time the waitress came back.
She was very pleasant and we were otherwise pleased with our service but I feel like we have been elsewhere and most waitresses will check drinks on their way by, so you’re not left sitting without especially at 3$ a pop. Also, had to take ketchup from another table when they left because no one asked if we wanted any when our food came out.
We had a 7:15 reservation and we had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. We also requested high top seating and this request wasn’t honoured. If I book a reservation I expect to be seated on time. Food was good, and our server was okay.
Server was great, very quick, would like to see more items on the happy hour menu or changed a bit. Overall good meal but a little on the expensive side.
