Ample portions. Attentive staff. Great value! Highly recommend
Great place to eat and wide variety of items on the menu! Everything is always delicious there.
Never been to a polish restaurant so we weren't sure what to expect. Starpolska was a little quiet when we came in so we were worried, but it was a fun introduction to the cuisine. The server/hostess was very friendly and the food was delicious! We shared pieroshkies, the beetroot soup (the cup version, broth only) and the beef stew with a side of beet salad with horseradish. Then, the apple cake which was warm and flaky. All great except the stew which was only so-so, not so much flavor but the meat was tender.
My only complaint is related to OpenTable. I reserved through the system and after I showed up and checked in, I got an email saying my seating didn't qualify for points. I would have gone anyways, but why?
The best Polish food I’ve had at a restaurant. Thanks!
We reserved a table for eight on a Sunday afternoon. We were seated din the "VIP" area which is a cozy corner in the back of the restaurant with a antlers on one wall and a hearth on another. One side of the area was open to the full dining room. We ordered a few appetizers first, pierogis and bacon wrapped plums. The pierogis might be the best I've ever ha, perfect amount of chew and delicious fillings of potato and cheese, meat and spinach. I've had bacon wrapped dates but this was my first time for bacon wrapped plums and they were delicious, much more moist than the dates. Entrees in our party included the Hungarian potato pancakes with beef stew, a variety platter including stuffed cabbage rolls, beet soup, zucchini pancakes and chicken soup. Everything was wonderful! The potato pancakes were crispy on the edges and soft in the middle and the beef stew meat was tender and very satisfying. If you're craving eastern European food, you should try Staropolska!
The waitress was lovely, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was divine.
If I’m ever back in Chicago I will certainly make the trip to dine here again.
I can’t recommend this place enough.
The food was phenomenal, all dishes were full of flavor and the experience overall is excellent! We will be back!
Great atmosphere. Excellent service. Delicious food! I've have a variety of foods off the menu & everything is always tasty!
As good as the food we had in Poland. We were celebrating a birthday and they brought us a giant piece of delicious chocolate cake. It's those little extras that really set a place apart. Portions are large. The platter for 2 can easily feed 3 especially if you have an appetizer or side. Wonderful place. We'll be back.
A Chicago gem! Everything was fabulous. We will be back!
Great food. Slow service. Uncomfortable booths. Request a table rather than a booth.
As my daughter and I walked up Milwaukee Ave. toward the restaurant, we encountered a babushka walking in the opposite direction. If nothing else, we knew we were in the right neighborhood.
I'm of Polish heritage and grew up on the Polish dishes that my parents and grandparents made. This place felt like home. We started with the potato and cheese pierogi. My daughter had the Devolay (breaded chicken) and I had the veal meatballs. Highly recommend both.
Fantastic food, friendly service and great ambiance. We'll be back to try the golabki next time.
Wonderful ethnic dining experience! ☺
Amazing!! The food was so authentic and so good! I’m Polish so I’m picky! The potato pancakes were phenomenal!
This place has great-tasting, authentic Polish food at a reasonable price. We loved it!
Outstanding meal, if you are Polish then you need to go, reminded me of the Mother Country!
Possibly the best Polish food I've ever had. Highly recommend!
This was our first time here, and we had a wonderful time! Our waitress was very friendly and attentive and the food hit close to home (I am half Polish). Definitely worth the trip!
Authentic polish cuisine...with a great menu and wide selections. Cute rustic interior. Very good service. Enjoyed everything!!
Great food, large portions, and a very friendly waiter, Anna. Great experience
Hands down the best Polish food I’ve had outside of Poland and my moms kitchen! Wonderful service too. If you’re with a group of 4 or more definitely go for the family dinner ... it’s a great value!
Charming, old-fashioned Polish restaurant with delicious comfort food. Feels quite sophisticated with the attentive service and quirky Old World decor (including old farm tools and hunting trophies).
The food was delicious and the decor interesting! My friends and I remarked how it felt like we were eating in an old restaurant in Kraków.
My only complaint is the high noise level. There was was a party going on in their event space, which made the noise level very high when the door was left open.
Fantastic and authentic Polish cuisine. Would highly recommend.
Dinner at Staropolska was exceptional! I was born in Poland and grew up with fond memories of traditional Polish dishes. All of them are on the menu and prepared to perfection. The staff was super friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Even when the dining room got busy, the staff hustled and never let service lapse - super impressive.
Amazing food! Very welcoming! Atmosphere is amazing! Best Polish food in Chicago!
They were very accommodating with the larger group. Service was friendly, on time, and the food was so good! I will be coming back and telling friends about this place.
Food was amazing!!! Anna my server was absolutely fantastic.
Very good Polish food. Great service
The Polish Food was EXCELLENT!
We drove 200 miles to eat there....Not disappointed!
My experience at this restaurant was disappointing. I had read great reviews and as my family is Polish (and I crave good Polish food), I wanted to try this place during a quick weekend in Chicago. To my dismay, the food was not fresh. The pierogi seemed to have been previously frozen, and the potato pancakes were reheated. Not only that, but our waitress was rude and the ambiance was dead. I wish I had better things to say, but I wouldn’t recommend eating here. We were both sick the entire evening with stomach aches.
I went with a party of six on a Saturday night. We ordered the family style meal at 18.99 per person. It was a fantastic assortments or Polish foods, generous dishes, and served family style. We absolutely loved it. The rustic decor, the friendly and attentive staff, and the overall low key ambience was perfect.
We can't wait to go back!
Awesome flavor - perfect Polish meal / awesome service and value
Servers were attentive, and wonderful; food was delicious
We eat here every time we are in in Chicago, about twice a year. Good food and good value with beautiful decor. Service is outstanding.
Good food and nice service however relatively expensive. For this price, I would expect a little more. For example, hot, not lukewarm water for tea, not to mention tea not from the bottom shelf.
Easter buffet was not as good as the regular menu. We will be back for that.
Wonderful food with generous portions and very reasonably priced
