Excellent service with outstanding cocktails and wine. The cab recommended for the meat was a perfect fit with enough structure and backbone to round out the steak, creamed corn and stupendous mashed potatoes. My Kobe steak was closer to rare than medium rare and a little chewy but overall a minor flaw in the whole meal (and still tasty - good beef!). Atmosphere nicely subdued and quiet.
Excellent food and service ! The steak was cooked perfect and the cream corn was excellent.
Fantastic experience!! Delicious food and superb service!
Never disappointed with the food or the service at Stark's, however it is difficult to dine as a walk-in customer at such a popular restaurant.
Loved the service, staff, food, and chef! The dinning experience was romantic and the food was beyond delicious! They went above and beyond to make my husband and mines Anniversary special.
We had our anniversary dinner there and the whole experience was great. I would definitely be coming back.
The steak and lobster were perfect...the waitress was very knowledgeable, overall great dinner experience...
The restaurant has a nice vibe and decor. We went for my husband's birthday and it was not the experience we had hoped for. The service was lackluster - the waitress didn't do basic things like introduce herself and let us know she would be serving us or introduce the person shadowing her that she was training, didn't bring glasses for wine or clear dishes from the table or check back in to see how things were going. The signature garlic/dill bread was hard. On a positive note, the ahi tuna appetizer was delicious! The only thing that would have been better is to serve it with crispy wontons instead of bread. We had the bread pudding for dessert and it tasted like it was heated in the microwave (kind of rubbery)! When spending $200+ for 2, I expect more. Sadly, it was disappointing overall.
Had the rib eye and it was mostly fatty and hard to chew. Server came to the table right when the food came out but never came back again to have him take back my steak and bring me a new one. He did take off the check but it ruined my meal.
Excellent food and service. Our server was Kelsey who was simply amazing ! We will definitely go back there !!
The bar area is loud, crowded, and a bit rowdy. The cocktails were skimpy and watered down. The wine list was extraordinarily expensive. The ala carte menu was significantly over priced - side dishes also very over priced and mediocre - cream spinach runny and bland, caesar salad lemony and instead of crisp, cut lettuce with additional ingredients, it was strips of lettuce that needed to be cut and these were on the warm side and limp; the service is excellent; the fondu starter was hearty and very tasty; the creme brulee was done well
Everything was great HOWEVER a patron had his phone ringer on ultra loud. It rang 2 different occasions. And the 2nd time he answered it and proceeded to talk as he sat in the middle of the restaurant disrupting everyone’s evening. SO RUDE. I understand that this isn’t the fault of the restaurant at all, however if I was the manager or worker I would politely asked him to be more courteous to the other guests and take his conversation outside as well as turn the ringer down. In fact if his phone rang a 3rd time I was going to say something and I wouldn’t have been so polite. Some people are so rude!!!
Other than that this is one of the best restaurants in the county and will always be a favorite of ours.
Wonderful food, great wine selection. Greg for special occasion
The food was delicious. However the service was unpleasant. Would be a 4/5 star if not for the waiter. It was one thing after another. He failed to take our order. He finally took our order when we asked. He forgot to bring out my birthday treat. He realized it was my birthday and brought it out as we were paying our bill. Big disappointment.
We had tickets for a show, told our waiter, and he made sure we were out on time. The food was excellent. The noise level was pretty high, especially because we were seated next to a bachelor party. I would definitely go back.
Jason was great. Very helpful when ordering. He made sure we got what we wanted. Thanks for the birthday dessert and candle.
I looked forward to going for the entire week, then had it live up to expectations AGAIN, which made me elated.
The service and the food were unbelievable! My only complaint is that it is very hard to hear your table over the background noise. I would recommend going right when they open So you don’t have to struggle to hear your table mates. Definitely a place to go if you have an expense account! Our French colleague said this was in the top five steaks he’s ever had and he eats a lot of steak all over the world!
Great atmosphere and incredible steak. We go to Starks every time we are in town visiting family. The restaurant never lets us down.
Great choice to celebrate my birthday. Reccomended from Ledson and we were able to secure a table for dinner the same night. Cool place, walk right into a nice lounge/ bar area. It took more than 5 minutes for our waiter to check in and we didn't get our bread right away without asking, but otherwise, everything was fabulous. I would have given a 5 for food/value except for the price, the steaks should come either with side salad or one side. Our waiter Kevin was so nice and attentive, so was the busboy, making sure our drinks were full *water and cocktails. Overall a fantastic experience and we'll be back for sure.
Great steakhouse atmosphere, but in a large room it can be hard to have conversations. Great food, cocktails, and sides. We had a little bit of everything (including salads, steaks, and seafood) and everyone loved their meal.
Absolutely our favorite place to dine when in the area! We live about 2-1/2 hours away. Like many people, we have that go-to spot when in any particular city. Stark's is that spot for us in the Santa Rosa area. Of course, this rules out so many other options........even some of the other restaurants within the Stark's family. While we understand that we might be missing out, it is hard to imagine how the food and service could be any better, anywhere else.
While visiting Sonoma Valley, we heard about Stark’s as we were looking for a good steakhouse. In this quiet town we were extremely surprised by Stark’s unique ambience and the food and servers were outstanding! In our party of 4 we enjoyed sharing several sides and they were amazing. The Mac n cheese was creamy and delicious with the crunchy topping-best ever!!
Great restaurant. Steaks were cooked perfectly. We had prime filet and the surf and turf. The bread was amazing as were the onion rings Waitress was also very attentive. Best steak dinner we’ve ever had I think and she been to steakhouses in New York City.
I've eaten here before and found it fine. My son and I had fathers day dinner here and this time the food was disappointing. I has the USDA Prime rib-eye and fully a third of it was fat. When I was done I could have fed my dog for a day with what was left on the plate. The baked potato and crispy calamari were fine. My son fared better with the same dish but mine should not have left the kitchen. The Stark's have something of a restaurant empire in my home town of Santa Rosa so I'm certain that neither of them spend any time in the kitchen and at least on this occasion it showed.
Nice place in Sonoma to get a nice dinner after a day of wine tasting. Excellent service and plenty of options off the menu.
Let me say that this is one of my favorite places to eat. But this night was quite a letdown. I will keep this short. The waiter was very slow and so unattentive, that we felt we had better service from the workers that just happened to pass our table. I order the waygu. Half of it was COMPLETE fat (not just fat interlaces with muscle, but all fat) and it was pretty cold for medium rare. And whatever you have changed about the bread, needs to cease. The bread is MUCH harder than it was in the past and with less butter to dip it in, it's not as good. That used to be a highlight. Now, we just don't care.
We went for a birthday celebration. Very underwhelmed.
First time having dinner here, very fancy and wonderful experience for special occasion with hubby. The service could not have been better!
This is the fourth time that I've been there and tried to order the porterhouse for two carved tableside. I thought the hard part would be finding a second person that wanted to share the meal with me. That wasn't the case. I had reservations for 7:30 and the restaurant opened at 5 but they were sold out again. My date tried to order the queen ribeye that was also unavailable. So she decided to go with the prime rib instead. To our surprise that was also sold out. With her fourth attempt she ordered something that she didn't necessarily want. With my second attempt, I tried ordering the 28-day aged New York strip bone in. 10 minutes later the waitress comes back and told me that they didn't have any those New York strips. So I went with the 28 day aged filet that wasn't on the menu. I prefer a steak with a bone in it and some fat. I ordered it medium but due to how thick it was I believe it's difficult to cook it medium. So I received a very rare steak. The wine and cocktails were great as well as the seared tuna for our appetizer. After the waitress told us the fifth time that they didn't have the steak we were interested in she seemed to lose interest in our table and even helping us as customers. I tried to flag her down as she was at tables beside us several different times. We were just trying to get our bill, pay and leave. It took a while. I believe my bill came out to over $250 for two steaks that would have been our last choice for dinner. Needless to say we are both fairly disappointed and I'm sad to say I won't be back.
Each entree was very, very good - both fish and a 1/2 lb burger....
Amazing food, exceptional service! Will definitely return again soon!
Vacation ... perfect food and service
The lobster was cooked to perfection... oysters were awesome ... and the warm chocolate dessert was to die for!😃
Wonderful food and drinks. Very knowledgeable staff
Stark's is our favorite steakhouse. Items we ordered were: prime rib, filet mignon, and halibut. All were cooked to perfection. Equally delicious was the baked potato with everything on it, garlic mashed potatoes, shrimp cocktail, and corn soup special. Dessert? Yes! Yummy banana/chocolate bread pudding and Meyer lemon cake. We were lucky enough to get our favorite waiter, Lafayette. He makes the entire experience perfection. We'll be back!
Great food good service, a bit loud for 8:30 PM in the back room.
The service was excellent! We loved our server. The prime rib was perfect. I probably wouldn’t order the creamed spinach again but the Mac n cheese was fabulous.
Awesome night out and even better food. Steaks and beers what more can you ask for?
