Great craft gin and tonics! Cute ambiance. Felt a little
Rushed by waitress. Kitchen closes at 9:00.

The hostess was a fail. She took us the worst table in restaurant; next to the kitchen door and the bathroom. She told us we couldn’t change because there was a lot of four top reservations. She then proceeded to seat numerous two tops all over the restaurant.

We were highly disappointed in the quality of the food. The fish was extremely salty, which was replaced by the server, and the special peach salad was served with rock hard peaches. The manager took care of us as did our server but we will not return as the price is extremely high for food of this low quality.

This was our first visit to Star Fish and we went with quite high expectations, having seen it featured on Good Taste With Tanji, from whom we have taken many suggestions and had great experiences. This time we did not have a "great" experience, only a fair one, but we will return to give Star Fish another try.

The greeting should have been warmer when we arrived. We were seated directly in front of the entry into the kitchen. Our waiter never introduced himself. The lobster filling in the lobster tacos tasted like, and had the consistency of, something that had been prepared hours ahead of our six o'clock dinner.

The decor is fun, the noise level is not too loud, there is ample parking, and the menu is varied enough to warrant a return visit. The zucchini chips on the appetizer menu was large enough to be a meal by itself and was delicious.

Star Fish has a great lineage and we like State Fare, so we will be cheering for Star Fish to be a success.

Celebrated my Aunt's 60th and it was memorable. She's a native Houstonian and couldn't believe, she had not visited prior to our dinner. She was so touched by the personal attention received by Rolando, he is simply amazing! We were also greeted by Michelle, (GM) and received impeccable serve from start to finish. I think Star Fish found additional loyal returning customers with my Aunt/Uncle :).

OFF THE CHART: Appetizers - Salmon crudo (melts in your mouth) / Traditional Ceviche was a classic Mexican custom dish. It was perfect! East/Gulf Oysters...we were split at the table, some like the sweeter St. Edwards Island, East Coast, while others enjoyed the over-sized Texas Gulf Oysters. Delicious sauces to enjoy them with.

Wine - We love French Burgundy FIXIN..a well balanced that pairs well with our entire meals. We've had before and reasonably priced at $50-60 bottle.
Couldn't' pass on the Cocktails, 2 ladies Lemon Drops...In this Houston heat, could have drank like Lemonade..if it wasn't for the after affect! :) Must try and on HH menu for a really cheap price!

Entrees - Grouper (amazing with smoked brussell sprouts)...Ahi Tuna, Po-Boys, Scallops (pan seared with deliciousness) and best side of all and ever eaten - cauliflower (don't know what they put on them - baked and have lemon flavoring of some sort) Ridiculously delicious and entire table voted - BEST EVER!

Highly recommend.

Rolando delivered STELLAR Customer Service and has an eloquence when describing food with such class.

Remarkable and so lucky to have SF in our back yard!

Keep up the great work! Best wishes for continued success!

Hostesses were rude. Service was just ok, except for the sommelier who was accommodating. Food was spectacular! The food definitely made up for the mediocre service. Best Red snapper....would definitely recommend it! Also the oysters and martinis were great!

Atmosphere and appetizers were on point. Mule and peach cobbler cocktail was mostly ice. Huge disappointment. Scallops were very good. Soft shell crab was very small, no meat and unpleasant taste. Glad we tried it. Probably won’t return in the future.

I loved the salmon on a bed of delicious whipped potatoes and a side of Brussels sprouts. My husband had the beet salad that he said was wonderful. He also had the gumbo that was pretty good, just not “New Orleans” good. We shared a really nice key lime pie.

We'd been wanting to try this place for a while but waiting for a specialish occasion as the prices are a little high. The restaurant is super cool - loved the open and bright decor. The food was just ok in my opinion. The scallops sounded amazing and several of us were going to order this entree however they were out of scallops at 6:30 on a week night. Then they were out of several beers. Lastly, I ordered the crab pasta which was cold when delivered to the table; I sent it back and they 'remade' it within about 2 minutes (aka just heated it up). Overall I just wasn't impressed with the service and lack of menu options.

It is a surprisingly pretty place for being in a strip mall. We had reservations and were seated in a comfy booth. The restaurant did get pretty loud as the evening progressed. The cocktail list is interesting and the wine list is quite good. We ordered the off menu appetizers, ceviche and crude and while the ceiviche was good, perhaps a touch ‘over cooked’, the crudo was fantastic. I ordered the peppered tuna, again nicely cooked and seasoned, served with forgettable broccolini and three tiny potatoes, but the table winner was a dilicious whole branzini and a side of carrots. They clearly know their seafood.

It was as if we didn’t exist.... and very few people were in the restaurant.... took forever to get their attention, food, etc. We literally had to get up and track down wait staff for water, for coffee, etc. Horrendous service (but food quality was fine)

Fantastic meal all around. The vodka and tonic drink I had was beautifully infused with flower petals. Zucchini chips recently added were light and crisped perfectly. It’s hard to go wrong with anything on the menu that changes seasonally but the crab and avocado cucumber salad is a favorite.

The noise level was such we could not carry on a conversation across the table (two people). My wife’s salmon was over cooked to the point of being dry. My bouillabaisse had shrimp, mussels, small piece of whitefish and half a small lobster tail. I could have purchased all of the ingredients at Central Market for less than $10. The cost of the dish was $43.

We went at opening and they were obviously not ready. The restaurant was empty, however, our request for a booth was not honored. For the next 30 mins it was chaos with a LOT staff rushing about in the restaurant as if they were late for everywhere - cleaning seating, straightening napkins etc - setting tables. It was like being in a subway station. Not relaxing all. Although there were only 3 tables and a few people at the bar food and drinks were being taken out and taken s to wrong tables. The food was good, not great. Once dish came stone cold. The waitress was excellent.

Second time there. Oysters fine this time. Gimlet good. Bouliabase meaty with seafood. sauce, however, just adequate and “baguette “ could have been toasted and crunchier. Service exceptionally good. Noise level much too high. Overall— 3.5 stars.

Very loud. You will have to yell to talk.
Food is overpriced. Service was sub par. Little things you’d expect a $50 per entree restaurant to have down just weren’t there from the service front. Caracol and Reef are the mature older sibling to this restaurant.

Starfish has become our favorite go to date night restaurant. The cocktails are some of the best in town. I don’t even like gin but they know how to make drinks to convince me otherwise. One of the bartenders is a virtual encyclopedia-maniac of the 90+ gin varieties they carry so be sure to visit the bar before or after dinner. The bar service is as good as the table service so dining there is nice too.

The crab claws are a must try appetizer. I tried the crab and avocado cucumber salad for the first time and it was delicious. My husband’s grouper and crab special was perfectly seasoned. Our server was very knowledgeable and friendly.

The restaurant ambience and decor is perfect for a date night or an evening with a group of friends.
