Starfish Ratings and Reviews
Our food was very good, but the area where we were seated was so dark, that we literally couldn't see our food! We had to use our cell phones to light up the menu, enough to order. When our food arrived, we couldn't see what we were eating. This is a problem. This is NOT ambiance, this is simply very poor planning by whoever designed their interior and specified the lighting. Some areas of the restaurant are just fine, but the section where we were seated, was ridiculously dark. It was truly laughable and took away from the nice dinner and also hindered our ability to have a conversation with our dinner guest across the table. Starfish really needs to address this issue.
Disappointing on a date night to be seated at a table that is an afterthought and half way in the kitchen...behind me was the entrance to the kitchen...in front of me was the station where the waitstaff stood and put in orders...no accommodation was made to change our table.
I was very excited about this restaurant. Seafood is my husband's favorite and my stepdaughter and I were celebrating our birthdays. The service was fantastic, the drinks were divine. We ordered the mussels and crab cakes as appetizers and were off to a very happy start. The crab cakes had very little filling and were absolutely delicious. The mussels were amazing. I could have taken a bath in that broth. The bouillabaisse was bland at best and the seafood in it was extremely overcooked, which is quite disappointing for a $43.00 dish. The deviled lobster was quite frankly lacking lobster and the mustard was slightly overpowering. The grouper was good but lacking salt and acid. The side dishes, however, were amazing. We had the cauliflower steak, asparagus, twice baked potato, and a spinach rice casserole came with my lobster dish, which was absolutely divine. Overall the environment was very pleasant and I would have rated higher, but I had asked for extra olives with my second martini and when we received the $273.00 bill, we had been charged $1.00 for the extra olives. I just think that with those prices, extra olives should be complimentary. I found that quite petty and because of that will never return.
The drinks were tasty. The service was immpeccable. The mussles were tender. The pasta was cooked to perfection and the crab was sweet and delicous. However, there was the noise. Oh the noise! We could barely carry on a conversation it was so loud. The noise level is the reason I couldn't give this restaurant 5 stars.
Everyone at Starfish made our dining experience wonderful . From Justin our waiter, to Adrian the manager, all the staff made us feel special. The menu made it difficult to choose our meals because of all the varied offerings. The ahi tuna was my choice while my wife picked the garlicy noodles with shrimp. I will order either entree in a heartbeat!
Excellent food and great selections. We had ceviche and the crab/avocado salad for starters. Dinner was a grilled whole red snapper with garlic spinach and roasted potatoes, along with a side order of cauliflower steak. Amazing flavors all the way around! The place is a bit loud, and was quite packed for a Wednesday night. However, the quality of the food made up for it. We will be back!
I have dined several times at Star Fish -- and have enjoyed the food tremendously. The Oyster Bar is a fun place to dine, if you are there alone or with a friend -- and the seafood is always delicious and fresh. The crab and avocado stack is my absolute favorite. Their specialty gin and tonic concoctions are also amazing. I'll be back again and again!
Enjoyed the drinks and atmosphere. We were there for a girls outing to celebrate birthdays. Our waiter was very attentive & made some great suggestions. We opted to try the blueberry ginger mule with their very own homemade ginger beer with a hint of jalapeño. The whole leaf Caesar salad was fresh & the ahi tuna pepper steak was good.
Always great food and drink!! Starfish has consistently provide top quality and value. Great neighborhood dinning. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone .
We have enjoyed Starfish since opening enjoying managements commitn not to quality each and every time! Value, quality, service and personal pleasure spot!!
Excellent food but pricey. Recommend the cioppino. Can be a bit noisy and do not recommend sitting in a booth. We (6 of us) sat in a booth. If you don't want to feel like you are on a rolling ocean, suggest you sit at one of the tables. Every time the people behind us (shared the seat back) moved, we felt it. Starfish either needs to nail down the booths better or make them separate.
This is my third or fourth time at Starfish. The food is delicious. The shrimp and pasta dish might be the very best pasta dish in town. It’s simple but hard to get just right, but this one is perfection. The service is very good too. It’s attentive without being intrusive, which is hard to get right. I’ll be back again and again.
It’s a interesting take on seafood, with good execution on the menu. I’m not a big fan of whole fish plating, but it does let you see the fish. Bouilllabaise is good, Lobster was good but really small for price. Really love the crab cakes, but again a little pricey. Great drink menu with good view of bar. Parking sucks, but they do have valet.
The food was absolutely amazing; the flavors, the temperature, the presentation was just great! We shared the halibut ceviche and mussels appetizers among 4 of us with a nice bottle of red wine. Our dinners were the grouper, the shrimp pasta and the filet - all wonderful! Our only downside was our server was not the best but the manager responded and was invested in making our experience the best, I really appreciated his commitment.
Although we were served within a reasonable timeframe, our waiter never once came to check on us after serving the appetizer, main course, dessert or cocktails. He never forget llowed up with “how are your drinks?”, “how is your meal?”, “can I get you anything else?” I told the manager, who gave me his card and said he would take care of us next time. I don’t know what that means. The drinks and food were very good, but my husband was not pleased with the key lime tart.
