The Star Hotel Yackandandah has been the centrepiece of the local community since 1863. A lot has changed since the Goldrush, but the Star Hotel remains a much-loved meeting place for folks looking to enjoy some time with friends over a few drinks or a delicious meal in the dining room. We love the local community atmosphere that still lives on at the Star Hotel, more than 150 years after its doors were first opened.

From the moment we walked in to the Star we were greeted by friendly staff. The menu was fantastic and the portions were huge. Will definitely be back.

Asked the lady at the front when ordering if we could have no salt on chips so my 10 month old could eat them, she said well do our best, my mum asked for no ham for allergy reasons, they said well do our best, and they brought out chips with salt and a parmi with ham Lady at the front who I think is the owner was very rude. I wasn’t the only one who I heard saying it. The backyard area was nice sitting in the sun

We have dined several times at the Star and have always enjoyed the food and warm atmosphere. On two occasions, we have been fortunate enough to have been there on Wednesday evenings when the music jam sessions have been on…a lot of fun which further enhanced our overall experience. Had a great night. Highly recommend the smoked ribs and brisket burnt ends. We found ourselves participating in a trivia night which was lots of fun. A part of local women were very friendly and the place was just great.

I've been there twice recently and had the Tex Mex salad both times. I don't usually give reviews, but these guys deserve it as the flavour was amazing, the beef was super tender and the salad was fresh and healthy. Friends had the grilled barramundi and said it was great too. Well done!

The meals were well received by the big eaters. Initially they ordered lamb ribs and the owner advised that the lamb ribs were a bit chewy at the moment & they may like to reconsider their orders. They changed to beef ribs & beef brisket and it was excellent! Owners honesty was much appreciated. All meals were generous in size. Glad I only chose one piece of fish with my salad & chips - it was more than enough. Hubby had 2 pieces & struggled to finish but he did because it was so good, fresh & cooked to perfection. Great food, good value, nice atmosphere in this little country pub. Only criticism, the mark up on a local wine seemed excessive.

Great food, great service and always such a great atmosphere! We love the star hotel for difference in pub meals. The flavours and quality are always second to none, and the staff are so lovely and welcoming.

As it was New Year’s Eve, all tables were booked but The Star was able to squeeze in 4 more peeps to join the NYE trivia night with Gary. Great night, full off laughs and loved my burger.
