Star & Garter
Date night !!
Throughly enjoyed our meals, I had the special steak with cornbread and it was yummy, the steak was cooked to perfection!
He had the pork and although he left the slaw he was very happy with it. The fondant pudding was spoon 🥄 licking good.
I didn’t care very much for the black pepper in my gins but as soon as I got them out I drank with delight, the orange gin was my favourite for the evening!
Overall a very good date night at an excellent place to eat and drink !
Lovely food and great ambience on a Wednesday night
Excellent staff very friendly and chatty with good food
Sunday lunch. I had lamb it was excellent. I like the touch when they offered more roasts. The meal was great.
Great food, even better service. This is the third time we’ve been here in the last 6 months, and we plan on coming back again.
I usually like the dishes of the day, but I don't like too much any of the regular dishes. I think they should update the menu.
Once again great food and service at a good price.
Four stars, because nothing's perfect!
Booked a table for Sunday lunch and were seated without any delay. The place was packed, with one large family party of about 16, so service was a little slow, but very helpful and friendly. Food was great - the deli platter made a great starter for four. The roast lunch was everything it should be, and with extra roast potatoes and Yorkshires on offer, there was plenty of it. We even managed desserts, which were well worth the calories, not the usual identikit gastro-pub options. The crumble is the real deal, brought steaming from the oven to be served at the table. The platter starter, 3 roast dinners and another main, 3 soft drinks, 3 desserts and two teas came to £117 - fair enough for food of this quality. I would definitely go again and recommend it to anyone looking for good food in a casual setting.
Delicious steak, lovely Valentine’s Day meal, exceptionally friendly staff.
Delicious Sunday roast and crumble
Great staff, menus and experience.
Always excellent food and great staff. Highly recommended.
Dinner post Warwick Castle for two families with 5 kids. Staff were so friendly and helpful and great with the kids. They’ll do half portions for half price. Definitely recommend
Exceptional service as always x
After a long drive we arrived,& ,found the star & Garten and totally taken in by its charm and delicious food.
Good place to go for an easy comfortable meal with really good staff who are ready for a laugh
Well pleased with are first visit to Star & Garter. The restaurant was well furnished with many nice touches and the washroom facilities were excellent.
The menu had a good choice of dishes with some vegetarian options. The service was very slow even though it was quiet and it was an hour before the first course arrived since this was for Soup it did seem along time. For mains to arrive this took almost as long. The soup was a little too salty but the mains were very good . By now the service was speeding up and desserts arrived in good time.
The long wait was no problem to us being retired and gave us the opportunity to have a good chat.
It was a nice lunch out, however drink were very pricey!!
Had a lovely Sunday roast here! Love the fact that the staff come round and offer extra Yorkshire puddings as well, nice touch! Really lovely atmosphere and we didn't have to wait long for food either.
I was impressed by the Star and Garter, the atmosphere was great, the staff were very friendly and the food was nice. My wife and I each had 2 courses and 2 drinks and the meal came to around £85.
Always great food and fun to eat at the Star and Garter. Staff are outstanding.
Went for a friend's birthday meal. Service was impeccable all evening. Food tasted amazing. They put together a gluten free dish wish wasn't even on the menu. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone.
Bizarrely many items on the menu were sold out on a Monday night but what was available was very good, sharing starters followed by steak. Also a good gin menu
I enjoyed a very good Sunday lunch with my wife to celebrate my birthday
Tried the new menu tonight in a pre set tasting menu fashion. Two examples of starters, main courses and pudding. Thoroughly enjoyed all the food offered and we were delighted by some of the quirks which took the dishes away from general expectations.
For me , the ‘Scotch Egg’ starter was the star of the show. Beautiful poached egg served in an egg shaped casing of Ham Hock and bread crumbs which was absolutely delicious.
The peppered salted beef main course was also a delight to the palate. It’s red appearance defies its well cooked and flaky texture and the salt and pepper combination is all the meat needs to allow its taste to shine through.
Pudding star place is shared equally between the pistachio cream profiteroles and the warm carrot cake. Both equally delicious and tantalisingly presented.
Lovely relaxed Sunday lunch. Fab food, served piping hot, by friendly attentive staff.
Staff were without exception friendly fun and curteous. Food was delicious
Service very good when busy - organised, polite and friendly waiter who had time for a smile and a joke or two with us. Food generally good although my chicken was a bit soggy with a lot of soft skin. Otherwise fine.
A busy pub with good beer choices and good food
Having been to the Fishes, Oxford in the previous week (another Peach Pub) we thought we would try the Star and Garter. Three of us for a family lunch on the first full day of their new menu. I tried the lamb dish which was excellent. It was a toss up between that and the Pigs Cheek so I let the chef choose - first class. My wife, a fish eating dairy free veggie, was easily catered for - her salmon with a side of frite was good but slightly spoilt by an overdressed salad. Daughter’s veggie plate first class. Excellent ice cream for pud (don’t miss the chocolate orange flavour) and proper expressos rounded off another good meal. Pleasant relaxed service, but the ambience and decor not quite up to the Fishes. However I do think that Peach Pubs have a good feel to them and will seek out another one when back in the area.
Friendly staff and good service. Lovely food - flat iron steak was delicious!
It was great, as always!
When I arrived our table wasn't set for Xmas meal and seems like they missed our booking. We got placed at the table by the entrance. It gets really noisy and someone constantly leaning on our table/ chair.
Food wasn't bad, service was friendly but slow. Just I would have expected a nicer arrangement, by the time to order dessert (1.5hours after our meal) someone told us our table is booked and happy to move us to another corner. We decided not to and leave.
Food was generally good, especially roast. Had the deli platter which was nice apart from the spicy chicken wings which were not spicy and didn’t taste of much! A little pricey at 70 pounds for two people
accidentally had a large glass of red wine tipped over me by staff i didnt make a fuss but no discount or financial apology offered by management - pretty poor show - wont be returning - just needed a gesture thats all !!
Having booked the meal for 8pm we were disappointed to have to wait until 9.45 for the main meals to arrive. To be asked at least 6 times if our food was ok did not help either.
The food was excellent as always however the service was a little slow and even know I had booked for 8pm we didn't get seated til 8:30 pm by this time we were hank Marvin and sobering up.
But I still love ❤️ it xx
Food is fantastic, good beer and proper pub feel. Definitely recommend
Great casual night out for my husbands birthday, on arrival he was given a complimentary birthday drink which was a nice touch.
the food was great and the service exemplary
the only negative for me is the noise it seems to carry? although there were some over excited guys on the table behind and my hearing is very sensitive
would definitely go again
