Good, authentic slow smoked brisket and ribs in the Canadian Rockies. Chef is fine tuning his inner Texan.
We went to Stanley's Smokehouse for a birthday meal but were a little dissappointed with our visit. The room could do with some updating and as it was so large, there was little atmosphere. However, the view is stunning and the service was excellent just like at other Fairmont restaurants. The food didn't take too long to arrive (we ordered the smoked brisket and the club sandwich). However, whilst the food was ok, it was nothing special which is not what we expected from a Fairmont restaurant.
View was awesome, service great and food was "Fan" Tastic!
The food was good but not at all outstanding and the prices were above average. The restaurant is located in the middle of an 18-hole golf course. To reach it, we had to take the shuttle which runs from the Banff Springs Hotel on the half hour, so plan accordingly. Or you could drive directly. The real attraction is the fantastic view, the relaxed ambience and the warm, excellent service. The wall looking up at the mountains is all glass so you can enjoy the view from any table. The ceilings are very high so the noise level should be very low, although we couldn't test that since we were one of only two occupied tables. We ordered the ribs and the brisket. It was a full slab of ribs, a generous portion. I would have liked the option of half a slab. Both were rather dry, improved by bbq sauce, which has to be requested.
We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of our dinner. The Salmon salad was fantastic. The staff is very friendly and Ernest to please.
I do not recommend this restaurant. It is not really a restaurant but rather a golf club. We did not stay at this place as we would have been the only person in he place on that evening. It had no atmosphere and nothing would attract us there.
They forgot the side dish which was caesar salad - we requested for it and when they brought it, it look old cut salad and very small as if it is to feed my Five year old. service was excellent. the smoke pork was well done but too fatty. I wish they cut most of the fat out it will be great.
Chicken and brisket were cold, and not tasty.
Fries very salty.
Rhubarb pie very small, rhubarb pieces were hard and woody ( too old).
Felt poorly shortly after eating this dinner
The brisket is to die for!!!
The restaurant is on the Banff Springs golf course. The view was beautiful and we did see an elk while dining. A shuttle takes you from the hotel and runs every 30 minutes. We were 1 of 4 tables of guests. Bar choices were somewhat limited and the service was not very attentive considering the lack of customers. However, the brisket was delicious, coming with a choice of barbecue sauce and 2 sides. For the view and the amount of food for the price, it is probably one of the best values in Banff. Despite the shortcomings, I would not hesitate to eat there again.
We visited the restaurant as a last night in Banff get together with friends, and it hit the spot. The setting is to die for gorgeous, and quiet. Most of Banff is crowded and can be loud, however, the relaxing setting, in the middle of the course, created a park-like feel. The smoked meats were amazing. The brisket was the winner, if you forced me to decide, but every element of the meal was delicious.
Best food, best price, massive amounts of foods. The scenery was spectacular. Go there often . Don't waste time withn others
I took my husband here for his birthday and was blown away at how wonderful it was. I had the Brisket and he had the pulled pork. The portion sizes were generous and very tasty. My husband gave the side Mac and Cheese two thumbs up.
I would recommend the Peach Southern Tea or the Paloma as a cocktail with your meal.
Wow, this restaurant is nestled in a worldclass surrounding of the Rockies and hugged by the Bow river and carpeted with superb golf course. Experience of a life time.
I checked it off my bucket list last week, but after a great round of golf and dinner put it right back on the must repeat column.
Highly recommend everyone this experience.
awesome view, quiet, super friendly staffs :D will go again just for these. Briskets is awesome, everything else is soso, bbq ribs are pretty dry, crispy pork has way too much fat to consume.
Beautiful view, relaxed atmosphere within the Banff Springs Fairmont Resort-perfect for a dinner without the stress of the crowds elsewhere. Saw a herd of elk at close range!
We found the service quite lacking. Should have a more attentive host, menus to be explained better, sides especially, because those pickled jalapeños were hot and it was warned, I probably would have been ok with just the raw pepper that was already on the plate.
Not a BBQ but everything is smoked, should explain that more, and the food should be "smoked". For the amount of side beans there are the corn was not satisfactory .
Great dessert though, not a big fan of the pie but the lemon pie was very decadent.
This undiscovered restaurant within the very busy Banff Springs Fairmont resort in Canada is a gem. It is at their golf course, but by no means a sports pub. Great chef and specialty is barbeque ribs, brisket etc. Although also have trout, salads etc. We had a party of 8 and were thrilled to be there in a quiet, gorgeous view with windows all around looking the Canadian Rockies. Highly recommend it
