Stanford Grill - Columbia
Everyone was attentive. Orders arrived promptly.
Great time with great friends! We all love Woodmont Grill in Bethesda and Stanford Grill is its long lost cousin closer to my new home! I will be seeing more of our long lost cousin!
Always delicious food. Attentive wait staff, but not 'in your face', 'in and out' like some places can be. Came here for a business lunch and came away satisfied.
Great choice for our anniversary lunch date!
Went to celebrate a friend's birthday. service and food were excellent.
GREAT EXPERIENCE!!! Everything was just amazing, my 3rd visit here and it’s always a pleasant experience
Been here a number of times. The food is always fantastic. The prices are a bit high but I feel are appropriate for the quality and portions of food you will receive. Went there during the evening, for the first time, to experience their nightly jazz offering. Where we were sitting, about half way across the main dining room, you could hear the jazz but it was sort of difficult. It was noisy but it was a full house so not much you can do about that. For my wife and I, Stanford Grill would be a "special occasion" type of restaurant, like Ruth Chris's Steakhouse.
Hannah was a great waitress and she is well versed.
She took the time to make various selections for my wife who was looking for vegan options.
Food was prompt, hot and delicious.
It was great!!!
Food was excellent, staff was attentive and knowledgeable and food portions were huge.
Love it. One of my favorite restaurants. The food is always good and the service is consistently excellent.
This was my first time dining at Stanford Grille and it was absolutely amazing! The rotisserie chicken was flavorful and tender and the mashed potatoes were too die for. The string beans were undercooked and not well seasoned so I wouldn't suggest ordering them...I did order spinach in it's place and that was very good.
Great place for date night... Great ambiance, nice music and good food for an affordable price! If you haven't been, definitely suggest checking it out.
Wife and I went for dinner. The band was a little louder than we liked. A lot of the neighboring tables were yelling back and forth to get over the music. Overall the food and service were both very good.
Server was great! I was there for a late lunch and had the Branzino. Very tasty.
Food was good but the service was slow, server was very busy. Couldn’t get a refill while eating lunch. Frequent diners from take out and take family from out of town here. Will be back, expecting better next time.
Everything was fabulous, except bv the noise level was above average.
Stanford Grill is my go-to place for elegance and ambiance in Columbia. Two friends and I dined there recently and had a very good dining experience.
Nice greeting. Seated right away, outside. Server, Brandon was very professional and full educated on all possible dishes. Checked for food allergies or sensitivities ahead so he could guide us. Good service throughout the meal. Good place to dine.
This place is always consistent. The staff knows what they are doing from the moment you enter the restaurant until you walk out the door. Everyone works hard to provide you with a great experience.
We both ordered the rotisserie chicken. Mine was so salty to be unpalatable to me. So I switched with my husbands which though still highly seasoned was edible.
The waiter and manager both apologized to us and offered a replacement dish. However because of time constraints we could not do.
I have eaten there in the past so I will return but never again will I order the chicken
Always good food and friendly service. The specials this time around were very good and reasonably priced.
Have lost count how many times we have dined at Stanford Grill and they deserve a 5 star rating. I will sing them on I ordered the red snapper special. The runner brings me the Tuna and insists it is Snapper. I then call the server over who also insists it is Tuna. At that point I ask to have the kitchen look at it and they admit is was Tuna... quickly made me Snapper so not a big deal but I expect more.
As always the volume inside the restaurant with the low ceilings and the Jazz group piped in via loudspeakers is way too loud.
Two weeks ago I ordered the Crab Scramble for the first time at the Copper Canyon in Silver Springs and it was excellent. So, we were expecting the same quality at Stanford Grill, but sadly didn't receive it. We received in comparison one tiny lump of crab meat, and the eggs were scrambled hard, a smidgen of sour cream and chives. So disappointing. I choose not to complain for once, wasn't feeling well, my sister picked through her's eating very little. I'm going to try you one more time for that item, everyone have an off day. The Danish Ribs were absolutely incredible that my brother-in-love ordered. Oh yeah, glad he shared a rib. I'll see you soon. ⚘
It was our first brunch at Stanford. It was lovely. We would go back again.
Have to give this place 5 stars. Definitely one of the nicer places to eat in Columbia. We were there as a party of six for a birthday dinner for the Mom-in-law. I'll be honest --- I'm just not used to the level of service that you get at the Stanford Grill. Our waiter was incredible, as was the rest of the waitstaff.
Good-sized selection of various foods on the menu, and we ordered everything from salads to the salmon to a couple of prime ribs (my son and me). Everyone said it was all very well prepared and tasted wonderful.
The grandparents got drinks and they said they were happy with those.
Honestly my only complaint is that it is pretty loud. It's an open place, neither carpet nor closed ceiling, and they have a very nice 3-piece band playing up front. But that all makes for a pretty loud place. If you have hearing aids, bring them (seriously).
With all of that, expect to pay for what you get. Great service and great food = a very expensive place to eat. Check out the menu -- prices are there. Very expensive for the Columbia area, but worth it.
Will definitely go again, since my wife says so.
My wife and I would go out intending to enjoy our company and eat tasty cuisine. I don’t know what happened, but the price we paid for what we got was an imbalance of huge proportion. We could’ve gotten better at a less expensive establishment and been better able to hear each other. The lesson learned here is that one should go by quality not overinflated name.
Had major reservation issues which were eventually resolved (but not in an amicable and helpful way) by staff/management. Service was very good and attentive although somewhat chilly, and food was decent but bland all around (apps and entrees all). Need far more vegetarian-friendly options besides a veggie plate of essentially steamed vegetables and a veggie burger. Most appetizers not veg-friendly (e.g., spinach/artichoke dip made with chicken stock).
I have been coming to Stanford Grill for many years and frequent the restaurant often for both business and personal meetings and gatherings. This was the first time however that I rated your restaurant less that Outstanding. Myself and one other guest ordered the Plank Salmon. It tasted great but the portion was very small. One other guest ordered the Rotisserie Chicken and found it tough and chewy.
Wonderful service, food, ambience.. company. Then came time to pay. Looking hi and low in Open Table app for my check so I can pay with Apple Pay, like before. Waiter said that he didn’t really understand how that worked asked for his manager to visit our table. After a few minutes she appeared, listened to my explanation of my previous experience. She then shared that the feature is no longer available, corporate decision to remove electronic payments. Stunned... provided my card and settled the check. Slightly embarrassing moment for me as this was a bit awkward after so far a flawless evening! Disappointed not knowing the restaurant changed policy... too bad not informed before scheduling.... Would rather dine where Apple Pay is accepted; it had been here so... became a favorite place to take friends. Maybe not so much for next time.
The food and service were both outstanding!! The bacon mac n cheese is the best ever! Can't wait to go back.
I went in Friday evening to celebrate my birthday. I was not disposed. The service was excellent as was the food and live jazz.
Birthday dinner was AWESOME! Loved the food, music & service
My dinner was good but the temperature could have been hotter.
The food, service, and atmosphere was great! We look forward to coming back.
Outstanding food and service.
Great for business meals
Trout special was very good. I always get the Steak Salad w pears. Awesome. Service was impeccable. The one and only complaint I have is it is very noisy.
Our service was wonderful as was the food. We were concerned about the very high noise level in the main dining venue but they were able to accommodate us on the patio. It was a perfect place to celebrate our 49th anniversary. Not sure we would have enjoyed nearly as much in the main area since my husband wears hearing aides and he had to remove them immediately upon entering. Guess we will only dine there during the warmer months and when the patio is available.
Great meal, excellent service and great atmosphere. Will definitely make it a go to place when we’re in town. Thanks for your hospitality
We arrived on time for our reservations and were brought immediately to our seats: a table near the front. Since this was our anniversary we asked for a booth instead. Although it was packed (on a Tuesday night) the hostess graciously accommodated us. Our waitress was attentive without being invasive; prompt, pleasant and helpful. The food: crab-crusted cod & rockfish, was very delicious with ample servings. We were treated to our choice of dessert. It was a difficult decision but the key lime pie was absolutely incredible. Other servers acknowledged our event and each made us feel very special. It’s not hard to understand why this is our favorite restaurant.
We really loved everything about the place. I'll definitely recommend it to anyone and will be back again real soon.
