In the past, my daughter loved celebrating her birthday there and this was the third time we came. She loved the eclectic artistry of the furniture and wide selection of food. However, we were very disappointed in the service and somewhat the ambiance, too. It took a little while for the waitress to appear, but she was friendly. There were 4 of us, so we shared 2 appetizers and a salad. The little long bread and the cheese on the spoon were very good. The Stage Hamachi was great! The escargot were different. We were disappointed in the salmon skin salad because we don't consider the sprouts salad. We expected a variety of mixed lettuces. Then we experienced an extremely L-O-N-G wait until the intermezzo, the absolutely delicious POG sorbet! Then another medium wait until we got our entrees. Our glasses were constantly being filled with water, which we appreciated. I asked one of the wait staff if she knew what kind of material covered the "cloud-like" lights hanging from the ceiling. She replied that other people have asked about those lights, there is a thick book with descriptions of every art piece in the restaurant, but it would take too long to find the answer. Not a good response. The steaks were excellent, the butterfish yummy, but the Kauai shrimps were disappointing. I asked for the shells to be removed, but to put the heads on the side of the plate for my husband to enjoy. Unfortunately, the heads were not included and not all of the shells were taken off. We got our hot teas in a reasonable amount of time and the desserts were very good, including the complimentary birthday carrot cake. The little "square" cakes weren't very good. Although the "sofas" were really comfy to relax in, we had to sit on the edge to reach the table. Sad to say, we don't think we'll be returning ...
The food was okay but not memorable. Decor was visually appealing, I was seated on one of the low couch type seats and felt it was too soft. Difficult for my friend to stand from the seat. Good service, nice descriptions of the food.
Great place to celebrate birthdays. Staff were very attentive. Food and dessert were great!
It was great! Micheal was amazing, he walked us through our wine options and was SUPER knowledgable.
Very creative menu and atmosphere. It feels like an art gallery. It's a little pricy for the quantity served.
Very disappointed in the food at this visit. We dined here about 8 months ago & loved everything we had. This visit left us less than enthusiastic. My husband's duck was dry. He brought it to the attention of the manager and $20 was taken off our bill. My sister's noodles/sauce that went with the shrimp scampi was dry. I had the catch of the day and while well cooked, it was tasteless as if it needed more salt. I did not ask for salt, but our friend, who had the same dish, did have to ask for salt.
We had the tasting menu and it was mostly fabulous... until the dessert came. The dessert was a bland "chocolate" something that had no taste. They tried to brighten it with some chocolate sauce when it was clear that none of us were eating it, but to no avail. Because one of us had a birthday, we did get to try a piece of coconut cake which was excellent.
The ambiance and attentiveness of the staff was great. And again, emphasize that the starters and main course were also very good. For the main course, however, one of us had a Beef Wellington that was a bit tough with sinew for a lot of the cut, but the others raved that their portion was tender and excellent. So, overall hit and miss, which meant that the value was less than desirable, as it was not inexpensive.
This was our First Tine There & as expected we truly enjoyed the View, the Service, the Food. The Atomsphere, & the Overall experience of being served w/the utmost knowledgeable, & curtsey by the Wait Staff.
We felt special as they were always ready to answer any questions we had about the meals we were interested in ordering from the appetizers, the main entree, to the Dessert. We are looking forward to returning sometime in the future.
Our favorite restaurant! Always fantastic service, food is unique, beautifully displayed & taste amazing.
This was our first time since they remodeled, the new look is very different than before as we were sat facing a window with a view. The food was amazing and the staff explained each dish and how it was prepared, for each plate they delivered. I can’t say I’m surprised, as The Stage has always been a great food and service establishment - but this new twist was definitely an upgrade from something that didn’t even appear to need an upgrade.
The decor was very avant-garde. I haven’t see it before. The menu was excellent, provocative and innovative. The chef really is talented. The wait staff was knowledgeable and accommodating. I truly getting here early to try the amuse wine bar next door before having your meal. It is an amazing experience for romantic dinners.
The on- table service was phenomenal. However, we had to a substantial time to be seated which for me defeats the purpose of a reservation. We were asked if we wanted to be seated earlier next to a couple since our “reserved” table was not ready.
So the Chef made up for a disappointing start to a Valentines Day Dinner. The food was definitely worth the visit to stage! From presentation to the actual taste was an adventure!
The food took too damn long. 5-course meal took almost 3 hours. Unsat.
Awsome spot to take the date or wify! Delicious meal.
Prif Fix Valentines meal was good but long. The time between courses was to long.
We went for a Valentine's prix fix menu that the restaurant wanted to be clear we understood. The courses and interludes were excellent, service attentive and entertainment low-key/piano, in all a fine service. Decor/ambiance much improved since our last visit: kudos to management. We'll be back soon.
Valentine's Day dinner. Wonderful 5-course prefix by Chef DeGuzman, the service from Aden was attentive, friendly and warm, and GM Michael Moore kept the room running smoothly on a very busy night. Last-year's renovation worked wonderfully and the wine list is quite good. Be back soon.
So much to love about Stage. Good parking, great wines, great service, distinct and quirky ambiance. The food and desserts are spectacular! This is the hidden secret of fine dining in Honolulu
Loved everything about this place!!! It was spot on in every aspect.
Suxh a wonderful experience! We did the five course meal with a wine pairing and it was so worth it! The service was amazing and our host was so knowledgeable about the food and the wine. It was quiet with a piano player in the background, such a nice touch. The only thing we didn't like was the entrance. We had to walk around the building to get in and then make our way through a very noisy and crowded win bar.
Wonderful meal and ambience. The Beef Wellington was so tender, flavorful and beautifully presented. Quiet, comfortable & unique decor. Great for a business dinner, date night or special occasion. Highly recommend
I’m a foodie and my husband and I enjoy fine dining. Your did not disappoint us. The staff were attentive and provided great service. The food presentation was impressive and most importantly, everything we ordered were very, very delicious. Hats off to the Chef!
Everything was great, service excellent, beautiful ambience, prices are very reasonable and worth it.
We had a wonderful time at Stage. The food and service was outstanding! We were celebrating a special event & the Chef even did a special dessert. We will definitely be back! Thank you to all the staff at Stage!
In have been a fan of Stage for many years but haven’t been there in almost a year. The new decor sets for an ambiance above all other competitors in the area.....a MUST experience in downtown Honolulu.
Service was impeccable. Food delicious. A wonderful evening in a relaxed setting.
I HIGHLY recommend everyone to try this place once to experience the ambiance, food and service. Everything was amazing! I used open table to make reservations and it was so easy to use. I recommend it to make reservations.
When my friend and I were walking to the restaurant there was a huge room off to the left side and wondered off to check it out. No one was in there, but wanted to see it. It looked like a lounge area to go and hangout. A male staff came to check on us and he was great answering our questions about the room. He happened to be the manager (Michael) and welcomed us to the place. We then went to the restaurant and was very surprised that we got a nice scenic spot. We sat at a table with a 2 person couch, but we did not feel comfortable sitting side by side. They were able to adjust the seating. It was nice to lounge on the couch after we ate all that wonderful food.
The service was great, food was awesome and the place was welcoming. We were able to taste a variety of things and by the time dessert came, we were so full that we boxed up one of our desserts. This place will not disappoint you.
Came on a Saturday night with a bunch of girlfriends for a GNO.
First comment is that the service at Stage was impeccable! From phone calls I made to the restaurant (questions about dietary restrictions, changes to our party size, etc.) to the welcoming host, to our amazing server -- we felt well received and well taken care of!
The menu was excellent, and they accommodated our party's food sensitivities very graciously. The dishes came out in a timely manner and we were all served at the same time so no one was waiting for another to begin. Each dish was plated beautifully and the portions were generous, but not overwhelming. I ordered the grilled King Salmon, which came out tender and not dry and perfectly seasoned. Others in our party had the pork belly, the shrimp scampi, the shrimp scampi -- modified for a vegetarian, and the sea bass special. Everyone had great things to say about their dish and how the flavors all came together very well.
Palate cleansers were served in between courses, which were all pleasant little surprises. We shared a few desserts but my favorite was their special for the evening, which sadly I don't recall anymore but it it had a lovely crunchy crust, a fruit coulis, topped with Tahitian vanilla ice cream. It was delightful.
The restaurant itself is beautiful and there was a live pianist playing that evening.
I would recommend this place for dinner dates, special occasions (birthdays, anniversaries, GNOs), or just a nice dinner out.
Great service, great food, beautiful ambiance!
Great food and service!
Enjoyed our dinner very much! Staff was very attentive and the food was very good. The flavors were fantastic. We especially enjoyed the live music by the pianist.
Great atmosphere, service and food! Definitely will be going back!
Attentive and engaging wait staff; creative blend of flavors and presentation; warm lighting and appealing decor. Will definitely dine there again.
The service was slow and inattentive. After I was seated, it took 10 minutes for somebody to acknowledge my presence and offered the menu. Another 5 minutes for someone to bring a comp appetizer. The restaurant was not busy when I got seated, only 2 tables were occupied. After I placed my order about 20+ minutes later, I waited another 10 minutes and my salad has not arrived yet. 40 minutes had gone by and at least the salad hasn’t arrived, I had to flag down the server to ask about my order. I didn’t get try the food because I left after 40 minutes of waiting. Even for a fine dining restaurant, the wait time for salad is ridiculous. The young female server was also inattentive. I felt I was completely ignored. Not coming back to this place. Nope !
I don't think the food is as good as they think it is.
The food, service and ambiance was amazing!!! We're definitely coming back. Thank you to all the staff. The Cosmopolitan drink was the best I ever tasted!!!
Celebrating NYE. Wonderful, food as well as the service. Always great.
This was my first time and I celebrated my birthday here. It was worth it. Thank you for the amazing foods. The presentation was everything. I feel in love with everything. I made reservations for my moms 50th birthday. Can’t wait for her to experience what I experienced. Thank you again for the great service.
