   Extremely welcoming staff at a restaurant that we have visited many times. Menu was limited on this occasion due to it being Mothers Day but the quality of the food was excellent as always. This is a great place for a casual lunch or special family lunch or dinner.

   The starter and main course were really good. Slightly disappointed with the desert as the pastry was chewy. Very good service from the staff. Restaurant seemed a little quiet for a Saturday night but overall a very good experience.

   Not the first time we have visited St. Villa but the first time since before Covid. As previous visits it did not disappoint. Great service with lovely food. We had the early bird deal of a starter and main for £16.95 each. We both had the calamari to start and then my husband had the calf’s liver and I had the tortellini. All food was delicious. We sat inside this time but have also sat in the pods previously which are equally as good. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this restaurant to my family and friends and will definitely be visiting again.

   First time visit for us. We were impressed with the set up and the decor. The staff were impeccable and friendly. The food was top class - especially my partner's Parmigiana and my fillet steak with peppercorn sauce. The only slight downside was that, even at 7.00pm it was noisy, but that's to be expected on a Saturday night in St Albans.

   The service was very poor but the food was good. It was a full house on valentines day, waiters did not appear organised or prepared at all. Lots of panicking and running around, did not know who’s food was for what table. The time between courses was outrageous, 50 minutes between mains and desert and that was only because I had intervened (which I had done multiple times throughout the night to get any service at all). I never received a side dish with my main, despite asking them that it was missing, they then tried to charge me for it. We did not get offered our drink that was included with the meal at any point throughout and had to remind them 3 times to bring it. There was chaos throughout the night by the members of staff who clearly were understaffed and inexperienced. Me and my partner did not enjoy this 3 hour occasion! Food was not bad though.

    Waited over an hour for our starters as they had been given to another table. Then had to give our whole order again. Food was delicious when it eventually arrived but due to us waiting so long the desert we wanted was no longer available. Such a shame the servers are so disorganized walking around with plates of food asking customers if this is what they ordered. No wonder our food went to another table. A bit too chaotic did not end up being the lovely evening we had hoped for. I’m sure they can probably cope on a quiet evening but they really should invest in a better food ordering system and number the tables so they can get the correct food to the right table. A pencil and notepad just doesn’t work these days.

    Good good, however lack of organisation and long waiting times for food and drinks spoiled the special evening. Had to intervene to get served multiple times trough the evening and at the end could not even had dessert.

    Everything was Ok, but just not up to the standards previously experienced at this restaurant. No longer somewhere special to go. Service was efficient and friendly. Decor is bright and attractive. My wife's starter was a bit disappointing. The aioli sauce accompanying her calamari was far too spicy. The sauce with our pasta was bland. It feels like it's gone a bit down market in response to lower demand which is often a bad sign for the future of a restaurant. Now more like a mid week Italian diner of which there are plenty. Rather quiet for a Friday night. Bit of a shame really.

    Great meal last night at StVilla! We sat in a dome outside and it was really nice and cosy. Our food was fantastic - olives, Carbonara and a Truffle mushroom gnocchi. Had the sweetest waiter too!

    Because of wooden floors, tables etc and lack of soft furnishings it’s a very noisy restaurant on a Saturday night, definitely a place to avoid for a romantic meal or if you want to actually hear someone opposite you.

    When we arrived they wanted to give us a table by the door but this we didn’t want so they gave us a pod on the patio with a heater in it. This was just for 4 people and really cosy. Our starter came which was nice . The waitress offered us free drinks as the main was a bit delayed although we never complained or asked for anything. Good quality food. All the guests were happy . A good meal overall.

    Not very good. Food order wasn’t taken correctly for some of the meals which meant them going back to be redone. When the food did come back out it was luke warm. Not much atmosphere. Shame as it used to be a good restaurant.

    The atmosphere was like walking into someone’s wedding reception with hardly any one there. It’s so WHITE! The lighting the tables flooring and walls. I ordered a salad with my pasta dish of sea food. The salad was lovely. The seafood tasted not quite right. Grainy and fishy, almost like it was off. Appart from the prawns I think the shell fish was frozen or not fresh. Bit rubbery to chew and the prawns not evenly cooked- soft and hard on the same prawn. The pasta was too soft and the whole dish was bland. I eat it all as I drank my £7 Prosecco to hide the taste as I was so hungry. I will not be going back again sadly, as the restaurant looked bored and had its time -sell out. The staff are lovely though. I just feel the passion has either gone from the restaurant or they know something we don’t know. Sorry for the bad review. Hopefully, you’ll see this and do something about it.

    We had a very pleasant meal but the staff were not attentive enough. I asked for a hot drink when I got there which never arrived and we had to ask to order all our drinks and food choices the whole evening. Perhaps just short staffed. Would still go back as food and restaurant were lovely,

    Food was incredible however it was New Year’s Eve and the pizza oven was broken. Didn’t miss the pizza when our food arrived. Quite a loud restaurant so struggled to hear at times. Service was brilliant and food came out quickly

    Pros: - igloos outside are a novel idea and nice setting for intimate dinner - pasta and starters were great quality. Cons: - chef unable to cook pizzas (which are on the menu). Apparently the dedicated pizza chef didn’t show up - service is incredibly slow. This goes beyond ‘laid back’ to almost non existent.

    Went yesterday for Sunday lunch. There was no normal Sunday Roast. Restaurant was freezing. Had to sit with coats on. Even staff were wearing outdoor coats. Restaurant has become very shabby. Curtains were hanging off the rails. Been there many times and felt as if it was getting ready to close. What a shame as had always enjoyed it.

    My friends and I had a fantastic time at St Villa for dinner in one of the Igloos. We chose from the festive set menu, I was impressed with the steak, burrata and tiramisu which were all delicious. The staff were friendly and efficient, and dealt very well with an error I’d made in placing the order. I would definitely return and highly recommend the restaurant.
