Great place and great food a treat will visit again
Lovely staff, relaxed atmosphere and didn’t make a fuss when my friend spilt a drink everywhere. New menu is great and would recommend the goats cheese starter and sea bass fillets for main which I had. One of my friends is a vegetarian and there was a good choice on the menu for her also.
The pods are a nice idea outside for something different and will maybe try when the weather gets warmer.
Absolutely fantastic. Food was beautiful. We were in one of the igloo’s which was such a great experience with a fire and blankets.
Despite booking late for new years eve, we were given a lovely table. Food was well paced and staff attentive. Even though we knew we had a time limit, we were not rushed.
A very busy New Year's Eve, with a lot of chefs and service staff. Despite this the service was not good enough and the food was disappointing. A beautiful building with good ambience though, however, overall, for the price much more was expected.
St Villa never fails in delivering quality Service and food.
service was outstanding. Wine was good value and very nice. The restaurant is beautiful. I think the food let’s it down a little. The starters were very small especially the salmon and bland in flavour.
The main we had the steak share board and we had plenty of quality and well cooked steak but only got with this a handful of salad and one portion of chips between two. We had to pay extra for a gravy. For the price of £60 I expected more and have certainly been to other establishments where we have been more impressed.
Delicious food which was beautifully presented. We were fortunate to be able to have one of the outside igloos which made the night even more wonderful for a birthday celebration and the service was amazing. Really lovely way to finish a birthday celebration.
We were in an igloo which was very cosy on a wet& windy night. Much enjoyed by my visitors.
I enjoyed going to this restaurant for my birthday with my friends we really enjoyed it was fantastic
Great atmosphere. Nice quality food. Small quantities. Only qualm, limited vegan options and no vegan dessert other than sorbet.
Delicious food and excellent service, nothing to fault it - even the weather was lovely so we could sit outside!
Starters & mains were amazing. Waitress was lovely, very helpful & attentive. We ate outside, weather was good - Whole experience was really enjoyable!
Came here for a mid-week ate with my husband and dined in an outdoor pod which was quirky, cosy and romantic. The food and cocktails were delicious and beautifully presented. Hubby is a foodie and he was VERY impressed. We had the monkfish and lamb mains - both were very fresh and cooked to perfection. The cheesecake and tart tatin desserts were sublime! Service was attentive and unobtrusive. We'll definitely be returning!
Good food, very quick service- almost too quick.
Nice food and service. The noise levels were far too loud though, as have speakers in the ceiling in loudly. This meant we couldn't hear across the table. This was a shame as the food and staff were good.
We visited on Saturday having been to St Villa a few times previously, and experienced great food and service. However, on this occasion the service was exceptionally slow (around 45mins wait between clearing away of starters and arrival of mains).
The main course of Monkfish in Prosciutto was also bland with no flavour as if boiled than roasted.
On passing the feedback to the waiter at the end of the meal, we were just told that 'I will pass the comment to the chef' and that was it.
I would still recommend St Villa to a friend, but will advise they on busy days that service and quality may be compromised.
Although the reception team and waiting staff were good the standard of food was poor, small portions and poor quality.
The place is very fresh and modern looking, with the interest of dine in POD's on the front patio. We didn't sit in these but they were being used and seemed to be quite warm and quests didn't have coats on while they were sat in there even when the rain came down.
As for the food this was very nice and the menu was varied with a good selection of different food types.
As a guide on pricing, our meal consisted of 2 Starters, 2 Mains and a bottle of Champagne. Cost £125.00.
Good value for money and well with in the same price bracket of similar restaurants in the area.
We would be very happy to visit there again.
Really great hidden gem. Food is good and enough choice. Service is brill and the pods on the terrace are so cool.
Superb service, delicious food and really pretty decor. Have already recommended multiple times and will definitely return
Generally like this place and will come back.
However, the charcuterie on the mother's day menu was disappointing - the portion was miserly and not 'restaurant quality'.
Lovely stylish ambience. A cut above. Noisy in the downstairs part due to bar area and all hard surfaces. Upstairs probably quieter. Food was very good. Wine good, but quite expensive for each type. Overall a good evening, we enjoyed it very much and would happily go back.
Food was really good (better than expected). We went on a Saturday and it was a lively atmosphere but the service was a little clunky in places so there is room for improvement there - perhaps a little understaffed at busy times!
The food was average unfortunately.....the service was below average however it was very busy....it took at least 10 minutes for any premdinner drinks and then another 15 mins for them to arrive...staff were friendly but not sure if will return as wasn’t good enough to put up with the bad service...may try a lunch when quieter
Soon as we walked through the door we felt welcome. Staff were friendly. The restaurant was quiet as it was a Tuesday evening. The pods were all booked out but we will return to try them. The food was delicious especially the lamb I like my food well cooked and it was cooked to perfection. My friend likes her lamb very pink and hers was also cooked to perfection. The chocolate brownie melted in the mouth probably one of the best I’ve had. I would definitely return but on a busier evening as the restaurant temperature felt cold but if there were more people it would have been warmer.
Took my boyfriend here for Valentine’s dinner. From the moment we stepped in the entrance door we were greeted with polite friendly faces and looked after well. The food was absolutely incredible, I had the lamb shoulder and I can honestly say it was the best lamb I have ever had! The service was amazing the waitress we had looking after us was lovely. We will definitely be back again! Beautiful restaurant and bar.
Great place to visit before going to the Odessey Cinema
Excellent service, food and ambience.
Thank you 😊
Been many times. Really good . Would highly recommend
Excellent food and service, only slight issue is it's a very noisy restaurant
Terrible, slow service for average food. Wouldn’t recommend or return there.
Very noisy. Had to send back our starters prawn pil pil was cold. Gravalax brown and dry. Mains were passable. Service shocking. Very noisy and sat by a window that was drafty. We asked to move and no one bothered to follow it up.
The restaurant itself is lovely, great atmosphere and I can’t fault the staff but the food is just average, nothing special. I had to send back my dessert as the pastry was raw, the staff dealt with it efficiently and quickly and I was offered an alternative which was nice. Will try again as it may have been an one off
Loved it, food was amazing and staff were great. Beautiful restaurant xx
An excellent meal in very attractive surroundings. We went midweek and had the two course lunch - very efficiently served by attentive staff (but there were very few customers in the restaurant at that time). Portions were generous and food was delicious. They turned the music down when requested. Will go again.
The steaks were amazing! They really stole the show. The wait staff were lovely and very accommodating of our demanding two year old! I'd defo go back the next time i'm in St Albans.
Very nice restaurant, not very busy despite trying to book and it looked like it had been booked out.
Food was delicious though starter was rather small. Test well set out perfect for couples or groups of 3-5 as tables were quite small 👍
A very enjoyable lunch was spent with family. The staff were very pleasant and attentive providing great service. We had the set menu for 2 which had a good choice of dishes for lunchtime. The restaurant has heated outdoor seating inside large pods, which are light up at night and look very romantic. We booked online which was very easy to do and were able to get the time we wanted. Will definitely be going back!
We enjoyed as a family eating for the first time at the restaurant . The food, the service the ambience where all excellent. The food was delicious especially the sea food stew, my only disappointment was the portion seemed unnecessarily small.
