   On our third return year, our group of 55 rented out the lower portion of the St. Regis for a private event and was offered a private buffet style dinner for $32 a head. The food was ok, if a little tasteless, but the service and the treatment we received was absolutely awful. A good 10 - 15 of our group went hungry after the 3 chaffers (one of blandly seasoned beef, another of instant mash, and a third of boiled root veggies) that were brought out ran low and we were told there was no more food as this was a portioned buffet and we'd eaten too much. Never in my life have I heard of a PORTIONED buffet. And this all was after they got everyone to pre-pay their meal, failing to mention the auto-gratuity listed on the bill as a surcharge to elicit additional tips, then told us we'd have to pay additional to get our group fed. More embarrassing was the tantrum the wait staff threw as they threw cloth napkins onto their trays, passive-aggressively slammed plates into a stack and threw the cupboards closed when our group stopped purchasing drinks.
