Excellent Sunday luncheon, with several outstanding courses. This was a Mother’s Day celebration, and my wife was very pleased.
You can always count on a delicious meal at St. Michael's Alley. We had chicken pot pies and it was a delectable treat. The side carrot and brussel sprout dishes were perfectly prepared.
In addition to the food, the service was top-notch. The waiter gave us the perfect amount of attention, good guidance on the menu, and was pleasant to interact with.
I'm glad they have both inside and outside dining options. We ate outside and it was very pleasant.
The chicken pot pie was unseasoned and bland, as were the brussels sprouts. The food was cooked well--crispy chicken pot pie crust, brussels sprouts also mostly crispy--it just tasted like the chef forgot to add salt to any of it.
Scallops were done well but the three scallops were not worth the astronomical price.
The bright spot was the super helpful and friendly waiter.
Bottom line: If you can cook well, stay home and do it yourself.
The pork belly and rock shrimp tostada was fantastic!
It is tricky to keep an intimate restaurant open during the Covid Pandemic. We ate outside on a chilly evening. It was in a tent due to Covid which was OK but of course lacked ambience like they have inside or if it was a warm summer night with no tent!
Staff very very very attentive. Will definitely go back post pandemic. Has a parking garage immediately below it which is great.
Loved it! Nice atmosphere. Delicious food at fair prices. Good service.
We celebrated our daughter’s birthday here and had a wonderful dinner! The steak, raviolis and the tuna tartar were all deliciously prepared.
I was celebrating my birthday with my friends at St. Michael’s Alley. The food was delicious, I shared tuna tartar, scallops, duck, and lamb, all those dishes were very good. The service was excellent, we will come back for sure!
Great food, wine and ambiance. Nice setting too. Nice selection of dishes.
Few selections. Outdoor Heaters were inadequate. Table for 2 was too small.
St. Michaels is a small, intimate restaurant, slightly more toward the formal end of the spectrum. The outdoor seating area is pleasant and relatively quiet. The wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The menu offers well thought out seasonal dishes to satisfy a range of preferences. The cocktails are well crafted, and the wine menu has a good variety. All said, this is a satisfying restaurant.
But, St. Michaels could be so much better. The menu reads beautifully, and the dishes are presented nicely, but the food tends toward being bland and, I’m sorry to say, unimaginative. Though all good, none of it is great. The wait staff is similarly unremarkable. Always pleasant, but often slow – always informed, but rarely around to provide additional assistance (e.g. salt or drink refills). The dining experience just doesn’t match the price. I always leave a little disappointed.
The service was great, the food was very good but certainly not outstanding, the outside tables seem to be impossible to reserve, I am sue this seating would have made our experience much better
Excellent food and service. Our group had the sea bass, scallops and lamb loin. All excellent. The red pepper soup was a bit spicy--- too much ground pepper. The desserts were excellent- cheesecake and chocolate cake to die for. Superb service-- highly recommend. They recently started indoor dining but we ate outdoors. They provided blankets and heaters.
This restaurant is always a treat, it is so nice to see it moving to a more normal state of affair. There is a romantic atmosphere, great food, a very reasonable wine selection. The tuna poke was very excellent, not drenched in soya sauce with a dash of ginger flavor built in, the sea bass and the salmon were excellent. I like the fact that there is always a nice touch of originality in the dishes. My only complaint has to do with a small minority of clients who feel entitled to come in without masks and walk and talk close by, endangering the staff and other clients. I guess there are selfish people everywhere...
Love getting back to St. Michaels! Great to see how busy they were. The always friendly staff. So glad to see all the regular people helping us enjoy the experience.
Often great, but fish fit new NorCal trend of undercooking. Gelatinous inside is not medium and is unacceptable for fish that isn't sushi grade.
This restaurant is a long time favorite of ours. Delicious food made from scratch. Service is impeccable. That's why they've been around for so long. I've actually grown to like them even more the past couple years as they've changed up their menu and made it more exciting. Their chef also knows how to deal with my convoluted food sensitivities and still make the food taste great and I really appreciate that.
The salmon and duck were absolutely delicious and attractively presented. With a very skillful and attentive waiter, in an attractive safe outdoor seating area, we will of course come again!
Prior to the pandemic, St. Michael's Alley was a restaurant we would dine at for special occasions and so we returned to your restaurant for our first 'eating out restaurant venture' since the outbreak of CoVid.
It was great to re-discover St. Michael's Alley. It was one of our favorite restaurants in pre-Covid times. I'm sure it will be again. The food and service at our recent meal were outstanding.
Live nearby. Walk to. Been there many times. Outdoor seating is great. blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah

Swordfish special was done very well and also the scallops were delicious!
Fantastic Easter Dinner
So over rated!!! The fixed menu doesn’t worth. Very bad service, and food was just mediocre.
Great service and food. It made for a wonderful Easter brunch.
The only drawback to the meal was the outdoor seating (due to COVID), which was not on a patio, but on the sidewalk right next to the street. It was a bit cool. St. Michael's did the best they could under the circumstances.
The food and service were excellent. The duck was one of the best meals I have ever had. My guest had the pot pie, which was tasty and generous. We had the prosciutto and watermelon salad, which was light and delicious. We did not have dessert. We requested something sparkling but non-alcoholic to drink. They made up a delicious "cocktail" for us to toast our Easter dinner.
St. Michael's is a culinary treat.
Thoroughly enjoyed and the service was fantastic
Food was great! Safety protocols were in place and it was well worth the money. A definite must!
Our family of 4 had a perfect birthday celebration on the patio. Everyone’s meal and dessert were delicious. Our friendly and attentive wait staff made the evening special.
Love it! We the patio is wonderful
St Michael's Alley is consistently a great pleasure. We're lucky to live nearby, and dining there has been one of those pleasures we've missed most during the COVID restrictions. After a year, we've returned and could not have been more pleased with the meal and the service.
We reserved late due to the power outage canceling our reservation at another restaurant. We got the table through Open Table. It was a great recovery. The staff are fantastic, the ambiance was great and the food was perfect. A great evening overall.
Such a treat! Had a cozy corner seat and enjoyed every course of our delicious meal. Staff was attentive and timely.
Solid food - the chicken pot pie is clearly a favorite for a reason. Nothing particularly groundbreaking, but the kind of standard upscale dining menu you expect on the peninsula.
Made a reservation about three weeks out for dinner. On arriving, we were seated at a table located separate from the rest of the restaurant's outdoor patio, on the sidewalk. Received the kind of service you'd expect, being seated on a sidewalk outside of the restaurant - were visited exactly three times to take entrée order, take desert order, and drop off the check.
I understand that it's COVID, and I'm accepting that we now charge people $4 for bread, and seat people on the sidewalk. That said, I feel like it would have been nice if they were at least apologetic about putting people in a clearly less ideal seating arrangements from 90% of the other restaurant patrons.
Knowing that it's a toss up as to the seating location, even with reservations made far in advance - probably will not be back.
New menu is fantastic!!
Delicious New York steak special!
Excellent food, knowledgeable staff and GREAT service. Made our celebration special. Highly recommend.
Food is always excellent, imaginative and nicely presented. Great service with friendly staff, even in the era of Covid. Can't wait to get completely back to normal!
Business dinner on a rainy night. Very tasty and fast!
Food was great but service was pretty slow. We waited a long time for each course.
We had a delicious dinner at St. Michael's Alley, our favorite local restaurant for a night out. The food was spectacular (salmon with yukon golds, chanterelle mushrooms and chard, and lamb loin with pomegranate syrup with spinach and carrots. The evening was cool for outdoor dining, so the staff provided soft, cozy blankets to put over our laps. We finished a delightful evening with two desserts: fresh lemon tart with raspberries and a chocolate mousse torte. Our servers were timely, efficient, and welcoming, making the evening a perfect dining experience.
