De bediening was chaotisch, de sfeer zeker ni
At. Martin’s Kitchen was a real surprise. It’s housed in a hotel, which we weren’t expecting and initially didn’t look that appealing. However the service was very good as was the food. We had the house wine which was great value for money. If I was a make a single complaint it would be the odd shaped plates (use round ones please). We will certainly be back, and we recommend this restaurant.
We had the bottomless brunch. We both close the steak sandwich with fries. The fries were particularly good. The choice of cocktails was good and my favourite cocktail was well made, and they kept the drinks coming. There was never a long wait. The decor was interesting but the ambiance could be improved. That said I would return for the bottomless brunch which was definitely good value.
Really enjoyed our time here , would definitely recommend wish I’d got our waitress name she was fantastic
I enjoy dining here: the service is as warm and effortless as the standard of the food is high. The pre-theatre menu is good value for the standard of West-East fusion food.
A hidden bolt hole, excellent location for pre-theatre dining around St Martin's Lane.
Enjoyable Asian cuisine, not spectacular but enjoyable enough to make me go back when I am in the area.
Our waitress was friendly and efficient and had taken note, from my booking, that we had limited time.
It was ok for bottomless brunch you order your drink on demand so it takes ages between drinks which is so annoying.
It’s really quiet so depending on if you like an atmosphere depends on if you like it here. The staff are lovely but overall I was left a bit flat to be honest. I’ve been to a lot of bottomless brunches but this wasn’t the best especially if your girlfriends are coming down looking for a good time.
Nice place to take your nana tho ! Haha
lovely scallops, soft shell crab and mushroom starter.
We enjoyed our visit to St Martins Lane Kitchen. Staff were excellent, food delicious. Very disappointed in the extreme noise from a Hen party. Not great for other diners and the background boom boom from somewhere.
The soft shell crab starter was over fried - just a load of crispy nothing.... my red curry was ok but nothing special. I was disappointed with the food, but the ambience is really nice.
Meal was good, one dish had too much salt though, and was expensive for what we had.
We booked for my birthday, the bottomless menu has changed & no-more bottomless champagne but still amazing. Vicky C was on top form as always & looked after us superbly - never an empty glass! We all had the burger which is a new menu addition, from someone who is not a burger eater it was very nice.
The room still lacks something not sure if it’s music but just missing something but the food, cocktails & Vicky, all on point!
Thank you for a fab sitting & we look forward to seeing you all in November, we fly over again!
Have to say am deeply disappointed the the excellent Asia de Cuba has been replaced by this drab attempt at filling the shoes. The staff were lovely but the food mediocre and it’s just missing something vital... please bring back Asia de Cuba..... or work hard on this one
Excellent service and delicious fish and chips
Loved the East and West theme of the menu, it meant there was something for everyone. I went with East, I had an amazing tofu glass noodle salad and sweet potato curry. Our waitress was very friendly and added to our experience . The only slightly down side was how quiet the restaurant was meaning it lacked a little atmosphere when we first arrived. I can't understand why it was so quiet when both food and service were excellent, perhaps it is due to summer holidays.
Love coming here - I have wonderful memories of staying at the hotel with my late husband nowadays I usually visit pre theatre food is delicious- staff are so attentive and such value for money you really are a hidden jewel on st Martins lane thank you
Just not the same as Asia de Cuba. The place was dead! Quite a lonely atmosphere tbh. Service was only ok, considering we were one of three tables occupied
Food was bland, service was just ok, ambience was quite sterile. A pretty souless experience unfortunately.
Great drinks and ambience and lovely staff! Wish there were more options food wise for the bottomless brunch but the drinks made up for it!
Absolutely fantastic food. Luca, Miguel and Alex provided an amazing service and made us feel at home. Food was so tasty. We were looked after and we will definitely coming back.
It has been a while since we were last at this restaurant (when it was Asia de Cuba), but we were left distinctly underwhelmed by our pre-theatre supper. The staff were unfailingly polite and the service rapid, but what was once a cutting edge hotel and restaurant seems to have got stuck in a rut, whilst the rest of the world has moved on. I'm sorry to say it was distinctly average overall.
Chef still the same as Asia de Cuba, the food was honestly fantastic! The service was amazing, super friendly and knowledgeable.
Although the service was excellent, some regular customers behaviour was unacceptable. Two men an old one and a young one arrived from the gym next door, the well build young man was fondled by the older guy. Another guy joined them who was loud and agitated. They disappeared for a while then returned with what appeared to be drugs handed over in a small sachet by the well built guy. The older one and the agitated one headed to the toilets together. It is obviously a regular occurrence. The staff seemed to know them.
I would prefer to eat at a place in which respect is showed to the customers.
Bank holiday weekend on a Saturday night at 8.30pm and the restaurant had two tables in. We sat with almost no atmosphere sipping our drinks in an empty restaurant sadly. The service was helpful and the cocktails drinks we ordered were excellent. Starters were actually delicious, soft shell crab, calamari and a dish of scallops all cooked and flavoured differently. Our mains however were poor. We both ordered a curry, one red curry with fish and a green curry with sweet potato. Both were disappointing as both tasted the same and were to creamy and tasteless with very little love and thought but into these two dishes sadly. The last time I’d been was 5 years pervious but this visit was more than disappointing.
Pre theatre offer - great value of 3 courses for £25. Food excellent, service even better. Only criticism - drinks on the expensive side (but then we are in central London, theatre land!) and starter portion size was a bit disappointing (especially the chicken skewers). t However the service was excellent, efficient and informative but not intrusive. Would certainly recommend and return!
Cool ambience, excellent service, really good menu and excellent food quality
The restaurant is an unknown gem and well worth visiting.
I did not realise that Asia de Cuba had gone until one hour before I went and I looked up the reviews. Very disappointed as I loved Asia de Cuba and went for a special occasion. We was the only people in the whole restaurant. On a Friday night is never a good sign is it. The waiter perched on a chair while taking our order (not very professional at all) and did not really know much about the menu. Food was disappointing. Such a shame as I had so many nice meals at Asia de Cuba. Would not recommend.
Tasty food, went for the pre theatre menu which was very good value. Staff were attentive and the ambience was lovely.
I had the pleasure of eating here two weeks previously and my friend and I were so wowed by the food that I rebooked again. My companion this time was Malaysian and recognised dishes with a Malaysian influence, and she was mightily impressed. The set menu for pre-theatre offers an excellent choice, and is very good value. Our waitress Vicky was brilliant. So glad I visited again as the food was as fantastic as my first visit. Will go again, and I recommend anyone interested to go soon because the hotel is apparently closing for a complete refurb and the restaurant cuisine will change. I hope it'll be as good!
Ate on a special offer which was very good value. Service and food very good - punchy flavours rather than subtle - proper levels of chilli and good quality ingredients.
Far too slow for pre theatre dining - food took 40 minutes even though we told them on arrival that we were in a hurry to get to the theatre
Also credit card machine didn’t work and had to go to main hotel desk and wait behind quests checking in to pay!
Avoid and save yourself disappointment. Asia de Cuba is gone but they won't tell you that, no now the brunch is a basic single dish breakfast you can find done properly elsewhere with unlimited alcoholic drinks. So, if you are after a dining experience forget it. But, if you want to drink yourself silly in what can only be described as a library then this might be a good place. For me Zero value for money and zero ambiance.
Very attentive staff who even got us a table after dinner in the lovely bar
Really enjoyed my bottomless brunch at St Martins Lane Kitchen. Staff were friendly and efficient and all three of us enjoyed a few drinks. The food was excellent but I think some nibbles would have gone down well as one course was not quite enough for the amount of alcohol. An excellent pre-theatre venue.
I’ve booked and had the bottomless brunch experience at Asia de Cuba on numerous occasions so had an expectation prior to booking and arrival.
Unfortunately, the bottomless brunch experience is completely different under SML Kitchen and not one I would book again!
The menu showing on the Asia de Cuba website still has the previous brunch selection of many small plates, with the option to upgrade to theCuban roast. On arrival, this was not possible and we were informed that we could simply choose one main dish from the Al La Carte menu instead!!
The steak sandwich was tasty, the rest (overcooked, tough pancakes with no berry compote - when asked, I was simply given a bowl of blackberries - and extremely weak Mojito’s) was a very poorly delivered meal, for a Central London location with a previously stella reputation.
The Waiter was clueless; every time we asked a question, he said, “I don’t know!” and made no effort to enquire with colleagues.
Disappointing and overpriced at £80 for the 2 of us (for what we got).
We visited for a girly boozy brunch and we were not disappointed. The food was great my only criticism being that the portion of chips could be a bit larger. All the staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Our waitress Agnes was very generous with the 2 hour unlimited drink package which we all appreciated. Lovely venue in a very smart hotel, perfect for a London day treat.
Food was trying too hard to do something clever, and as a customer who had recently enjoyed the Asia de Cuba experience at that same restaurant, was left disappointed.
Only positive is that the noise level was good, but only due to the place being empty. Bring back Asia de Cuba!
The food was nice , the £25 set is good value , but very expensive drinks ! a bottle of water & 1 glass of wine + service will cone to £70 + so not good value at all
