St. John's Restaurant
Guy this is perfect place for a romantic date. Food is taste, service 10/10, interior design second to none. This definately a 5 star experience.
Enjoyed the server and the food was excellent! Was recommended by family. Arrived early and the bar was full. Checked in with hostess and was sent next door to P/M to upstairs bar. When returned for 8:45 reservation. Showed my open table email conf# to the host and seated. Surprised when we were listed as a no show by them. Felt rushed and not a priority both times we checked in and perhaps that is why they did not officially mark us as checked in. Other than this mix up, I would have scored them a 5.
We had a great time. The antelope was amazing. We will be back
We have again had the most amazing experience. I will forever drive from Nashville to eat here
My boyfriend and I enjoyed our first time to St.John’s. The food was outstanding and the service was great!
From start to finish, the experience was divine. Can’t say enough great things about the food, ambiance, and staff at this location. MUST VISIT!
Even on Valentine’s Day, service was prompt, cheerful, and attentive. Every dish we tried was delicious. Perfect place for a special night out.
Haven’t been I years and glad we went back. It was Valentines Day and worried it would be rushed service. However, our service was outstanding.
We did the Chef’s choices and wine pairing. Was AWESOME!!! There were two choices for each course so we just asked to bring one of everything. Wasn’t a single dish we disliked. My only negative comment is the center cut ribeye was a little tough (to me). My wife loved it so that’s all that matters!!!!
We will definitely be going back soon.
Disappointing. Things were fine until a large party sat near us. At that point, the server almost ignored us. My steak and potatoes were cold. I complained to the manager and she made a slight adjustment to the check. Also, it was our 15th anniversary and we got an acknowledgement but did not feel special. St. John's, you have some work to do!
As always St John’s provides a delightful dining experience. The staff are delightful and provide a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere. The menu is the most creative and interesting in town and the food is delicious. I recommend asking for a wine pairing with each course.
I consider the culinary staff at St. John's Restaurant to be second to none in regards to the taste experience. Subtle and elegant are words that come to mind. Wait staff provides appropriate service without hovering.
The beet and turnip dish on the valentine's special was very bland. No distinctive taste at all. Was surprised that it was served. The crab meat on it was delicious but the beets were nondescript. I was waiting to taste a zing or a strong flavor to help bring out the other flavors and it was disappointing.
This was my first visit to Chattanooga and I was intrigued by the menu offering farm raised antelope. The wait staff was excellent and the service and food were impeccable. I have dined at several fine establishments in Charleston, Greenville, and Atlanta and this was the best meal I've ever had. I highly recommend St. John's and will be patronizing them every opportunity I get.
Solid night out -- service was good -- food was good
Chef Reed Trimble is just amazing.... every dinner. every time. Shannon and Misty complete the dinner with excellent service, knowledge about the menu, and smiles! You never disappoint!
Brian our Waiter was awesone, It was our fisrt time we will recommend to all our friends
Atmosphere was perfect! Food was delicious and cooked to perfection! One of my favorite places to dine in Chattanooga.
Food was fabulous- best steak ever and the bread pudding was amazing! Great date night restaurant!
We were in town for our anniversary and checking things out for a possible move there. St. John's was a great experience for us. My wife wants to make it our annual anniversary dinner if we move to the area. Would definitely recommend it. Our meals were prepared perfectly, our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. Looking forward to returning in the future.
Our evening at St. John's was fairly special. The food was amazing and our waiter, Bryan, was nothing short of perfect. We sampled many things including antelope meatballs, beef tartare, rack of lamb, waygu beef, and some signature cocktails. All were spectacular.
I do feel like the atmosphere and seating were lacking. The table we had was shoved in a corner and the bench I was sitting on sank down so you have to lean forward to eat. It is an interesting space to try and get adequate seating in, so I see that challenge. However, it should not be too hard to firm up and fix the booth seating. Also, you do sit very close to your neighbors, so I would not say this is the place for an intimate meal.
In all, we were really happy with the food and service, but the seating is an area of improvement for St. John's.
Service was amazing!! Best part of the entire evening.
We hadn't been back to St. John's since it changed ownership some time ago. I guess we were afraid the quality may have diminished after the change of chefs. We needn't have worried! The entire experience was every bit as wonderful as it was under the previous ownership, even better if that is possible. I'm just sorry we waited so long to venture back. St. John's remains in the very top tier of fine dining spots in Chattanooga. The food and drinks are inventive and delectable, and the service is perfection. This restaurant is back on our short list of favorite places to spend an evening on special occasions.
I celebrated an anniversary with my wife with St. John's and was very pleased with my choice. The staff was very thoughtful and helpful, making sure we had an optimal table option as well as a more immediately available option. I had the lamb which had 3 distinct and delicious cuts, and I highly recommend it. For dessert, the ice cream was great but the show stealer was the chocolate creme brule - it tasted just like the middle of my grandmother's chocolate pie...so delicious. Highly recommended venue for celebrating a nice occasion with great ambiance and food.
I believe that I had the best steak I have ever eaten here! Also, my husband and I were not terribly hungry so we split our courses and not only were they happy to do so but they served us in separate plates. It was beautifully plated which doesn’t happen if there is one dish and empty plates. This was honestly a memorable meal and our waiter was excellent
Met an old friend there for a reunion after 30 years. Food was spot-on; pimento cheese appetizer started the meal in the right direction. The restaurant did what good restaurants do on special occasions: provide an appropriate canvas and backdrop for the real purpose of the meal; in our case, reconnecting with old friends. Service was prompt and unobtrusive. Food was elegant and not pretentious. Would recommend to our friends.
Remarkably Chattanooga has a world class restaurant to rival any in New Orleans. Inspired combinations and masterful preparation. Highest praise.
Great treat for special occasions. It is expensive for Chattanooga but overall still reasonable for high-end dining compared to other big cities. I did think my steak was a little too salty but it was plated beautifully and still tasted great. I would definitely go back.
The food and the service were great as always. However, this was the third time we had requested the table for two in the window upstairs and the third time it was promised and the third time we did not get the requested table. If the request cannot be fulfilled then don’t ask for special requests!
Best dinner ever. The fried Brussels sprouts were excellent. The entrees were perfect. Dark chocolate crembroulle was amazing
I enjoyed my dinner and the food was excellent. However, there was an issue with the waiter, Shannon, that wasn’t acceptable. The table was close to the door and my date’s chair sat in the flow of traffic. I moved the table about 18 inches to prevent her from being in the flow of traffic. The waiter, Shannon, came to our table, scolded me like I was a child for moving it, then slid the table toward my date without permission. He literally grabbed the table and pulled it toward her scaring her. I’m a retired special operations officer so this instantly made my hightened alert response rise and thus made me jumpy the remainder of the evening. We enjoyed the food and would come back but Shannon ruined the ambiance and the evening for us. If you go, do NOT allow Shannon to wait your table.
excellent food and service Antlope was excellent so was the steak and wine and dessert
When my wife and I dine at St. John's, it is typically to celebrate a special occasion (anniversary), and we have high expectations. Without fail, our high expectations have always been either met or exceeded. The menu is unique and offers a variety of flavors, textures, and really good food. The service was/is very knowledgeable and attentive, and we felt we got a good value for our money. We are looking forward to our next visit.
The food was incredible, and our server was wonderful. Super quick and attentive. The winter menu ravioli was to die for. And I was in love with the dark chocolate creme brûlée. Perfect anniversary dinner!
A wonderful experience. The food was outstanding as was the service.
We were four seniors...I'm the baby at 68! One has an issue with stairs...and I have an issue with heights HA! We were immediately escorted up the stairs to a table on the edge of the upper floor, directly under the speaker broadcasting jazz, which we asked twice to be turned down. The restaurant was all but empty when we arrived at 5PM, so I had wondered why we were placed where we were. The music was too loud and certainly not the kind of music one would expect at a high end restaurant like St Johns! All the food was fine, our waiter was excellent!, and the price is really too high for the value.
St. John's virtually never disappoints. I started with a delicious and bounteous beet salad. The take on cassoulet presented was stellar, with the beans serving as a base for a perfect osso buco. The descriptions often don't do justice to the dish that arrives at the table. For instance, our dessert was billed as a Meyer lemon cake, and it was gorgeous and utterly decadent. Though not inexpensive, St. John's presents one of the most reasonable values in fine dining I've enjoyed anywhere. Service is attentive and accurate without being fussy. Fine dining it is, and it remains my choice as Chattanooga's best restaurant by a good measure.
Another great meal at a great place to eat. Thanks to the staff for making it great.
Amazing service, incredible food, remarkable ambience
I enjoyed dining at St. John's Restaurant again as had been several months since eating there with the same lady friend last summer. I might have eaten there once since that time. Anyway, the house breads are amazing with three choices of potato bread (house specialty well known), rosemary sourdough (also a favorite), and a new brown bread described as pumpernickel yet didn't taste like pumpernickel, just a hearty Irish soda type bread so a good night for that. They usually have three bread choices courtesy prior to ordering from the menu so quite a treat! The house salad generous serving for one person as could eat 1/2 portion, other 1/2 portion for fellow dining companion the next time if desired. Did eat most of the salad. Loved the homemade Semolina pasta (spaghetti) which was slightly different than last time. Both of us ended up ordering each a Devil's Food Chocolate Layer Cake (like a pie slice).. so rich, decadent and delicious! Another wonderful memorable meal at St. John's Restaurant. I requested extra bread and sorghum butter to take home which ate partially for breakfast, ate remaining slices as part of lunch at work (got 2 potato slices, 2 rosemary sourdough, 1 brown bread slice).
