St. John's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Went with another couple and had a fantastic time. The entire staff was highly competent and professional. Our waiter, Martin, was engaged and very personable. The food was excellent and nicely portioned.
The atmosphere is very nice. The place isn't really that big but the tables aren't crammed together so much that you feel cramped. We were upstairs and I was surprised that the noise level was louder then it was. We didn't have to shout (or feel like we were in a Library).
We'll be returning.
The food was delicious , the service was exceptional and the ambience was elegant yet
Relaxing. The only thing I might mention is that it did seem like it took quite a while to get our
Entrees after ordering but we didn't mind because we were enjoying the friends at our table.
This was our second visit and we will be back!
The night was most excellent, My wife and I loved it, the food was very delicious and very reasonable on price. The service was great, our server was very professional and helpful. The St John's restaurant I would definitely recommend to the anyone. Evening valet parking was great.
The food is always first class & perfectly prepared. This is a place where I recommend trying something new even if you dont typically care for a particular food style, keep a open mind and try it. The food is prepared in a way that you probably haven't even come close to tasting before. So what you think you probably won't like could possibly be your favorite thing ever.
Excellent menu, excellent food, and excellent service. Our waiter was We had scallops and Brussels sprouts for starters and steak/brisket for entrees and all were wonderful. As were the wines. St. John's is pricey, but we thoroughly eating there for special occasions.
I took my wife here after a movie for our anniversary. You can read other reviews to learn about how good the food is. I will just say that nothing we had was lacking in flavor or presentation. Their venison was extremely delicious.
I was especially delighted in the attentiveness and helpfulness of the wait staff. They were absolutely the best.
The valet parking was only $5. Hard to find valet at that price for such a nice place as this.
My wife and I ate at St John's on our 45th anniversary. We found the restaurant's atmosphere to be pleasant and quiet enough to converse easily and it felt warm and inviting. The service was ok, but we had to wait a while to place our order, and I received a slightly different first course than I thought I had ordered. The problem could have been primarily because I didn't see the other similar dish on the menu.
The food , squash soup with bits of lobster and the 2nd course of medium rare veal was exquisite.
St John's is a good choice for a special occasion.
Me and my girlfriend went here for our 1 year anniversary and we loved it! The food was amazing and had no idea what the menu meant, but the chef was outstanding with his food pairings! It is a great place to try new things and we had zero complaints about St Johns. They even printed Happy Anniversary on the menu's for us and gave us a on the house appetizer! Probably one of the best restaurants we have ever been to! Be prepared to spend some money however because this is quite the fine dining, but it was worth every cent!
Overall a very lovely meal. One server misstep with a graceful recovery, but the flavours of the meal compensated well. Grilled foie gras, sweet breads in mustard sauce, steak tartare, followed by wagyu beef and filet, finished with a carrot cake soufflé. The sides of mash, cheese grits and mushrooms were seasonal and sensational. Upstair seating provided a nice atmosphere, but the ambient wind and chill were arctic.
St. John's is without question the best restaurant in Chattanooga and it is as good as many in much larger cities. This has been our favorite dining spot since moving to the area 2 years ago. The staff is very professional, the wine list is excellent and they do their best to make your experience exceptional. Highly recommend!
My wife and I have dined at St. John's several times over the years. She has been treated there on business several times and I have been there socially several times with a group. This was the first time we have taken just ourselves there. We enjoy the "dress casual" atmosphere and we especially enjoy the food. Jenny, our server, was delightful. She struck that delicate balance of being engaged and involved without being intrusive or invasive. Her knowledge of the menu was very helpful. We are already planning our return visit. Hopefully Jenny will be available as our server.
The meal I had here was the best of my life thus far. The staff were kind and polite. It was an expensive meal, but for what you get it is well worth the price. I highly recommend this restaurant, especially if you are a fan of gourmet foods and fancy venues.
Still the finest establishment in Chattanooga. We frequent many downtown restaurants and have many great meals, but St. Johns is by far one of the best. The attention to detail and the service is impeccable. The menu offers selections that are unique and indulgent. Weather you are celebrating a special event or hosting a business dinner, St. John's is sure to leave you feeling like you have been served the best in Chattanooga.
The food was excellent, but our server was not. He paled in comparison to the other servers we observed at nearby tables. He seemed knowledgeable about some menu items, but was unable to answer questions about others. He was inattentive and genuinely uninterested in our dining experience. I loved the ambiance and decor and feel certain this would have been a 5-star rating overall if we had been paired with a different server.
Whenever we have a special occasion to celebrate, St. John's is the first place we think of. We had a professional accomplishment and a milestone birthday to celebrate at the same time. It was a quiet night soon after New Year's, and the chef offered to create a four-course menu just for us--an offer we couldn't refuse! Everything was incredible, and the chef's creativity and attention to detail made our special occasion truly memorable.
Our experience was outstanding. I took my 18 year old (almost) granddaughter for dinner. The food was superb and service was outstanding. The little things are accepted by staff as important. For instance, the napkins were selected to prevent lint from accumulating on our clothed, I got white (tan slacks) and she got black (black slacks). She was amused at the attention of wait staff on keeping her glass full of fresh ice water. "I only took three sips and they filled it again!" Great experience for both. Thanks you.
We loved spending New Years Eve with you. The service was the only issue. However, I definitely understood that the server was pulled in many directions. My issue mainly was that we sat down and he came to greet us and then we did not see him. Our neighboring table was seated about 5 minutes after us and before he returned to us, he had already taken their order and served their first course.
I believe he was simply scattered. His personality was charming though and I will spend next NYE there too! It was a hit!
