St. John's Meeting Place Ratings and Reviews
We always love The Meeting Place.. . It was our first date restaurant before we married. We invited our friends to join us last Saturday. We also go to ST. John's next door a lot for fancier special occasions.
The atmosphere and food was terrific. I suggest making reservations, like we did, because the place is almost always busy.
The food was tasty and several gluten free items made the menu varied. My friend and I ordered two small plate options and shared a large plate for our dinner, which made for a satisfactory and filling meal. A plus...the large plate was divided in the kitchen and brought on separate plates to us. Waiter was friendly and knowledgeable, but as room filled it appeared to be shy of sufficient wait-help. We had to wait longer than typical for our bill and take home carton. I don’t fault the waiter. He had multiple tables and a full house. We arrived at 6:15, and by 7:15, the place was packed, and noisy which made conversation difficult across our small table. Still, I would recommend the restaurant to friends, but add that’s it’s best to get there early.
St. John's Meeting Place is adjoined to St. John's Restaurant. It has a terrific menu that is reasonably priced with a combination of dishes from hamburgers to scallops. You can be casual or dressed up. The crowd is a combination of all age groups. It is great that Chattanooga has a restaurant like St. Johns Meeting Place or its sister restaurant St. Johns.
Acceptable restaurant, but the food was way over salted and the wine list way over priced. This would make a great venue for French bistro type restaurant with classic bistro meals (think blanquette de veau, etc.)and value wine (think Southern Rhone and Beaujolais).
We love Meeting Place as a regular for us. The food is always beautifully prepared (in our eyes) and presented. Their drinks are well-made - no retail mixing here, and they have a superb, full wine list. Finally, they have sufficient food offerings to satisfy most palates. They lean a bit more on the meat side than fish, but everything is tasteful and multi-faceted.
The food was OK but not nearly as good as expected. Everyone raves about the burgers so that it what we all tried. They were under-whelming to say the least. No flavor at all and the buns were still frozen. On the bright side the fries were excellent. The duck tacos were also very tasty but the warm- mozzarella was not, nor was it warm.
First time here. Definitely won't be the last time. Nice setting, great staff, even better food. We sat upstairs in the loft area and had just the right amount of privacy and still got all the attention we needed. Thank you for making this a great experience for my wife and I! Alvin
It had been a while since we were at St. John's Meeting Place and thought it would be a good place to celebrate a special occasion with friends. We enjoyed the creative Happy Hour drinks and appetizers before our dinner. We had the Grouper with Green Curry sauce (the presentation was pleasing to the eye & palate) and the Friday Night Special which was Spaghetti & Meatballs. Usually meatballs everywhere else I've eaten were nothing to write home about BUT these meatballs were freshly made, flavorful and WORTH writing home about!
The service was exceptional! We had a special food allergy which they were able to accomodate easily. We also accidentally spilled a glass of water and by the time we all grabbed our napkins a passing server reached in with a clean towel to clean it up without missing a beat. The manager came by the table to see how we were enjoying the meal then stopped by again to wish us Happy Birthday (because we were celebrating 2 birthdays we had special birthday menus & dessert). Keep up the GOOD WORK ~ this will easily become a regular place for us!
This was one of the best meals I have had in a long while. Our group of 4 each took a bite of their entrée and were transported to another level! The food was fabulous. The presentation was spectacular. The combinations of foods were very special. I had the bacon wrapped quail which was stuffed with a peach cornbread dressing served over creamy grits- just yummy!
We had the BEST experience at St. John's Meeting Place. We were in town during a very busy weekend and were lucky to get a reservation (we went early). We actually showed up at their sister restaurant next door, and the hostess very kindly walked us next door and told us that they would get us in at either place.
The waitress was fantastic, and the food was creative, eclectic and delicious!
But the most amazing part was that having discovered that I left my wallet at my hotel, the waitress was so understanding and didn't make me feel like the idiot that I was! I left her my license (even though she didn't ask for it), and rushed back to the hotel to get my wallet. When I came back to pay, EVERYONE in the place was so friendly, each one offering to help seat me, connect me with my waitress, or do whatever I needed help with. This might be one of the best places we've every eaten. They did everything right!
Our first time here was amazing. Came to celebrate my husband's semi-retirement, and the food, atmoshpere, service, and jazz was outstanding. We are so grateful to have the group of Lindley brother restaurants in Chattanooga that know how to do it all right, especially for those of us who truly appreciate great food, service, and atmosphere. Thank you so much!
We visit SJMP several times a year and have never had a bad meal! Abby was our server and she did an awesome job! SJMP regularly changes their menu so it is never the same ole, same ole. Great food! Always willing to accommodate and SJMP continues to be our favorite restaurant in Chattanooga!!!!
