St. Anselm - DC
Anniversary
Absolutely incredible food! We loved everything we ordered! Especially the monkey bread and deviled eggs! We will be back! We also appreciated the extra Covid precautions. Excellent restaurant!
Service was initially slow but the waiter was very good. When my omelette came out it was missing the crab and I brought this to my waiters attention and he said he hadn’t realized this before it was served to me but he did not bring it to my attention or indicate that he was taking care of this. Ultimately crab was brought out to go with my omelette. The manager comped our appetizer and beverages Because of slow service but it was actually because of the food mistake
Delicious food and great atmosphere! Will definitely go back.
First visit and definitely won’t be my last! Food and service was outstanding! Everything was seasoned to perfection and cooked just right! We orders the deviled eggs, salmon steak and oysters for apps and farms ribeye and Bronzino (fish) for entrees. Just divine... can’t wait to come back!!
Great meal and awesome service
We sat in the outdoor heated shacks. A little chilly but we felt very safe from Covid 19. We loved the giant prawns, oysters, biscuits, and ax handle rib eye!
Delicious food as always. Loved the private outdoor seating.
Amazing biscuits, coffees, and a tasty plum beer! Unique menu with great service!!
My favorite restaurant in DC hands down. I’d recommend it to any and everyone.
The food was mediocre. Our waitress started the night out by mentioning we had a time limit. Not super friendly. Too expensive for the value.
We sat outside in a hut and it was pretty good. They do have a 1.5 hour limit, which was completely ignored for the people in the hut next to us. When we finished at 9 (for a 7:30 reservation), there was no one waiting and open seats; some people had recently been seated so they weren’t closing. But our waitress said we could not have another glass of wine and had to leave. That left a bad taste.
Awesome dinner! Love this place. So well set up for safety during Covid.
I want them to bring the cauliflower back though!!!!
The wine and the steaks were great. The service was stellar. I'll be back definitely.
The entire experience from greeting at the door to dessert and the check was outstanding.
Not worth mentioning. Sunday night
It’s my new spot.
Outdoor heated seating was great
Dining outside is always a toss-up with the weather. However, the staff did a great job ensuring quality service even though we were eating outside during a rainstorm
Tons of outdoor seating. Food was amazing! I came for lunch and was highly satisfied. Try to book in advance if you want to sit outdoors. Inside is also clean. Your temperature is also checked as well.
My party was not accommodated. No efforts were made seat us relatively close together despite my reservations requesting that. Not welcoming to people of color.
Very lovely, warm, Covid-safe experience.
Great food and great service
It’s not very enjoyable to have to wait an extra 20min to get seated and then have to sit right near the door. This was after being told we were waiting longer than expected in order to sit in a booth. I love everything about this restaurant EXCEPT the hostess staff. Just be transparent with the customer instead of wasting my time with false promises. For the amount of money I spent, I would have appreciated not feeling rushed to finish my meal after it was the hostess staff that cost us 20min of our dining time.
My boyfriend and I live very close and come often. We never get sick of the food because it’s literally just so good. The branzino is one of my favorites dishes. It’s just perfect. It’s such a great place. A gem. I highly recommend!
Ate in the outdoor complexes set up - very well organized. Temperatures taken, and each stall was individually heated and felt sound proof. Service was attentive and nice. Wine was good. Food was excellent! Had the grilled oysters and the biscuits and crispy potatoes. Would highly recommend for people taking covid seriously and still want to have a fun and delicious meal!
We love this place, whether it's Saturday brunch or a fancy takeout meal!
The ambience was great. Our booth was perfect and intimate. The salmon collars and buttermilk biscuits were amazing. The steak could have been a little less pink. The service was great. Thank you!
The food and drinks were incredible. My compliments to the the cooks and bartenders. The greeter was extremely rude and the wait staff was covid crazy. I would probably avoid this restaurant until covid is behind us as the staff appears to be frightened to interact with the guests. They were very uncomfortable in their interactions with us. Be advised that there is a 90 minute dining window at this restaurant and you will be asked to leave at the end of that time period. Apparently, even if you have not finished your meal or drinks. Another reason to probably avoid it for now.
Great ambience, very Covid conscious, excellent service, extensive wine list and, above all, delicious food.
Love going here and glad we had indoor dining!
The steaks are not super impressive in flavor. We ended up asking for sauce because it wasn’t salty or flavorful enough. They had A1 , garlic butter, or this other beef broth based one, which we really didn’t like. The salmon collar is good, nothing impressive but it is good. The crab claws are good - it’s crab, hard to go wrong. Portion size of the crab was pretty small for $24. The sardine appetizer was just okay. The sardines come on toasted bread. The beats lacked flavor and the ricotta side it comes with is more like cream cheese actually - bizarre. Overall too expensive for lack luster food. It’s not bad but truly I’ve made better at home, even down to the potato sides. The ambiance is nice but there are better options in DC.
Two of the three meals came out undercooked. The service was poor. The waitress did not provide appropriate guidance regarding the meals to come (i.e. the size of the ribeye was not big enough to share, the ice cream cake portions were huge). The most disappointing part was the value we received for the meal did not warrant the amount that we were charged.
Great service, great protocols. Will return for another visit.
Our waiter was friendly and fantastic
Food and service were both great. Best COVID protocols I have seen while dining out in DC.
Our server didn’t
We loved our first dining experience at St. Anselm. The biscuits and grilled oysters - delicious! Our server Dan was very attentive and pleasant. We also had a lovely check in from a Manager, Jill, during our meal which added to the exceptional service and experience. We will definitely return!
This was the best brunch experience I’ve had in a long time! Their COVID precautions are excellent; service was friendly; and the food was amazing.
The outdoor seating is a brilliant idea and their safety precautions are unique and fantastic, would always recommend this place because they care and maintain standards of the highest quality.
