St. Anselm - DC
It's great to see an unpretentious steak house that delivers. The food is amazing. Would highly recommend this place.
St Anselm — from cocktails to biscuits to that b’day carrot cake w/just enough candles — truthfully & delightedly, E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G was flawless, captivating, & yummy for our Fri evening b’day celebration!! Just like the candles, the b’day girl was lit w/excitement! Paul & staff, thx for every special touch! We 💕 St A!!!
I had the best server ever in Kamiece (sp?). Everything she recommended was delicious and I tried things I normally wouldn’t like. A great spot
Inside ambiance is wonderful. Outside is in a parking lot in 95 degree heat. Despite the cute little individual pods, indoor dining would have been preferable.
Very helpful waiter! After we decided we would prefer to eat inside, he figured out a way to get us an excellent table inside.
The service was very good and my fish was good. But the strip steak we had was overcooked and very tough. Had a hard time cutting it with the knife. Why don't you buy the prime strips from Costco. So much better and they are as tender as butter.
Would have loved to eat inside, but totally get it
So good! Biscuit to die for. Loved the whole branzino, NY strip and mashed potatoes. Great atmosphere and service
I love st anselm! Great food. Especially the biscuits.
This place is truly wonderful! The quality of the food is over-the-top for the price. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. We love the contrast between the interior decorating theme and the surrounding area. Any time we're near D.C., we make a reservation!
A solid choice. The staff is friendly and the drinks hit the spot. Great monkey bread but the biscuits and pimento cheese is the best. Don’t miss that app—it’s my favorite. So good! I’ve tried the brunch chicken sandwich twice but left most of it on my plate both times. I thought the first time was a fluke but ended up disappointed by it on the second try as well. Skip it for something else. Will be back—just with a new main next time. But still recommend St. Anselm overall!
Wonderful brunch outing! The menu is amazing and won’t disappoint!
Excellent always. I miss the giant prawn. Much more fun than the treditional steakhouses in this city.
Enjoyed every moment, would recommend and return next time I’m in DC.
Somm Megan picked us out an amazing barbaresco. The steak au poive is phenomenal.
Fun spot, great options for lunch. Great playlist.
Great to every thing- cocktails, seasonal appetizers (tomato salad), biscuits with pimiento, rockfish…I could go on.
Had a lovely dinner. Great service and food was delicious.
Food was excellent! Salmon collar was a standout dish. Good wines by the glass too. Our waiter was able to point us to a Hungarian white and a Israeli rose that were both outstanding! And very interesting!
I made reservations for a celebratory date while on a short trip to D.C. We sat in one of the cool outdoor structures outside. The food is INCREDIBLE and the service was fantastic. My only advice is not to fill up on the appetizers before the entre arrives. I absolutely want to return my next time in town!
Food excellent at good prices. Casual atmosphere. Service unpretentious.
The time limits at the tables given the price of dining is ridiculous. Having our entrees rushed out in 10 minutes and being asked to leave the table at the two hour mark despite having spent hundreds of dollars will prevent me from dining at St A again.
This place NEVER disappoints. Everyone is so friendly and the food is PHENOMENAL!!
We really enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant. The server was a bit aloof but it might have been a language barrier. The manager checked in on us after our first bites of our main course. We really appreciated that gesture.
Solid service from the hosts who greeted us, the server who was on point from start to finish, and the manager who checked in with us just to see how things were going. This place is not your typically obscene (in terms of volume and overdoing everything) steak house. Still, be careful how you order. It's easy to overdo. First time there and were really happy with the whole evening. Oh, and uh...yeah, the food was excellent from start to finish.
The food was excellent with generous portions. The staff was helpful, always willing to give advice on food and drink options.
Superb food /wine- great service.
I like the cool old indie rock music too
The fourth time I’ve had the pleasure of dining at St Anselm, best one yet! Sat outside in one of the huts that were built for the rona, was a little worried it would be uncomfortable but it was cozy and great. Service was great, food was amazing! Save room for dessert, can’t go wrong. Highlights for us were the grilled okra, salmon collar, cobia special, lemon sorbet and the chocolate cake.
Abby was an AMAZING Server!
The Biscuits and Pimento Cheese....YUMMMMMMM! DROOL!
Great as always! Consistently my favorite steakhouse in DC.
Service was very slow. Good really average . Toast so burnt .
As a first time diner here, it was a good experience. We made our reservation, arrived early and we were greeted with a smile. Upon being seated we were originally seated in one of two tables outside that didn't have lighting ( I like to see my food). We let the server know that we would prefer a different seat and there were no problems at all with the change. We chose to share food, as it was our first time ( parental night out/dinner date - we are in our 30's). The crab deviled eggs were yummy, we will order them again ( next time we will get 2, lol). The Half charred chicken we AWESOME. It was exactly what they said it would be, charred - we like our food cooked well and are sometimes disappointed to request charred and not receive it ;). The sauce was so yummy we ate it all. The crispy smashed potatoes and creamed spinach were a nice accompaniment . There wasn't any room for desert. I cant recall the drink my husband had, but it was good and he had two ( I strongly believe it was the Hemingway Daiquiri) . We will be going back, especially for brunch to try the monkey bread!
Top to bottom amazing
Great food and great vibes at this restaurant. Surrounding area is fun also
Birthday . Definitely ordered a grilled oysters in the flash fried roast beef potatoes
Great atmosphere and food.
Such a phenomenal meal.
Went for our anniversary dinner and was not disappointed. Fabulous food. Superb service. Incredible wine list. And they have ice cream cake. Will be back to take on the axe handle ribeye.
