St. Anselm - DC
Amazing outdoor experience. Dominique was professional, entertaining and prompt.
Terrific entrees, though pricey. Overall excellent service.
Joshua, my waiter was amazing up until the bottle of sparkling water I ordered and did not finish, he got rid of the cap and used a wine cap, I was a bit apprehensive about it but he assured me it would be alright.
It wasn’t. The sparkling water spilled all over my car, purse and phone. That annoyed me. I asked him if I could get another bottle instead because it was paid for and I guess he either didn’t want to or it’s not anselm’s position to do so? Either way, it was very annoying and dampened my great mood of having great dinner.
We went here for a birthday and they were SO sweet -- they brought us free champagne, were so attentive and we were checked in on often. The food was phenomenal and absolutely worth every cent. They even had to adjust our reservation because of patio renovations so they paid for our dessert! A lovely experience and we left full and happy :)
This is my favorite restaurant right now in DC. The service is always great, food is spectacular and drinks are on point.
Just not up to what I’d expect from a customer service level not value for the food. Unfortunately, we just wouldn’t return.
Had a very nice dinner there. The food was very good and they were accommodating to our dietary restrictions. The waitress Amy was attentive and gave great service!
Check this place out for sure!
great food and wonderful options. highly recommend the biscuits!
I looked at the menu and thought it was going to be an average steakhouse. Turns out, I was completely wrong and all expectations were blown out of the water.
Everything we ordered was a level above what you’d expect in terms of flavor, their beverage director recommended a great bottle of wine, all the staff was incredibly friendly, and best of all, the decor was nice but it wasn’t pretentious.
One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time and will be sure to go back soon.
- Endive Salad
- Radish and Whipped Ricotta
Food great. Service poor
Both the rockfish and the steak were cooked perfectly, and the creamed spinach was delicious. Of course, the pimento spread and bread were wonderful. The outdoor seating was very nice. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed his birthday dinner at St. Anselm and we certainly will return. The outdoor dining aspect is so inviting.
Food is amazing and the outside tables were very comfortable on a May evening. Service is outstanding and Covid protocols are good to see.
We called and made a reservation for 4, I called a week prior to add a 5th, when we arrived, the table was set for 5 but told us they could not seat us, only 4. We asked if there was anything they could do to seat 5 of us together and that we would be happy to squeeze at a 4 person table or pull up chairs outside. They dismissed us and made us leave. This was a very disappointing experience.
Came for my wife’s birthday. The food and service were fantastic, as we would have expected from past visits.
Amazing food, impeccable service. If you are celebrating you must get the giant prawn. It’s a show stopper.
Very good customer service. Food was delicious. It would be nice if the menu had vegan options
Food was great but service was very slow. Took a while to order and get drinks.
Good Covid precautions in place
Our server was awesome, drinks & food came out relatively quickly. They are strict on the COVID policy, which I love!
Thought the service was great and the food was fantastic... wish I could say the same about my date
Excellent food. Great price point. Outside dining will be better once they finish construction around there.
We had a delicious meal at a heated outdoor table! A terrific experience!
Thought steak could have been seared better and been better seasoned.
Great food and wonderful service
Food and service was excellent. St. Anselm was thoroughly Covid-ready and we felt very comfortable.
The outdoor accommodations are top notch! We were pleasantly surprised that the dining pods were climate controlled and we had heat pumping on a chilly day.
Wonderful server, wonderful sommelier, made for a perfect experience, thank you!
Outstanding! I will be back very soon. Sardines, Tartare, Tomahawk all get strong recommendations
I always bring my out of town visitors to St. Anselm. The food is amazing and vibe is great too. Typically, service is great and it is an all around good experience. The sommelier was fantastic and helped us pick a good bottle within our specifications. Our waitress, however, was adamant about us keeping our masks up when she was at the table. I completely agree with every restaurant's unique COVID19 protocol, however, she was quite rude to someone in our party when telling, not asking, her to pull her mask up. I would not have an issue with this, at all, but we watched the waitress go to multiple other tables and converse, at length, without asking them to put their masks up. I am fine with additional safety protocols, but at least hold every table to the same standard. This is a stressful time for certain diners and rudely singling out 1 table in her station was not the most appreciated gesture. That said, food and ambience were great, as always, just disappointed in the service.
The lamb steak was not all that great. We let the wait staff know and they did remove that menu item from my bill. They were very gracious about the situation and very apologetic
We made our reservation for outside before we knew about inclement weather. Our request for an outdoor shack was accommodated and we stayed so cozy in there with the shelter and heater provided! It was just so surprisingly comfortable! Our server was very nice and attentive, she asked that we all wear masks when delivering things to the table, and as my first dining experience in over a year, I really appreciated that! Our food was served warm and delicious, all the ways we’ve come to expect our dining experience here, and didn’t miss a beat with all of the other accommodations they’ve made. 10/10. Thank you to the staff who made it a wonderful experience.
Great food and service. Expensive and generally worth it.
Outstanding service, excellent COVID protocols, best biscuits I've had in years. I'll be back!
The worst food and customer service.
The waitress was not happ to serve us you can tell on her voice.
Great safety protocols: contact tracing, temperature checks, distancing inside the restaurant.
Our server John was friendly and helpful with recommendations, and acknowledged the birthday note I put in the reservation.
Great food, ambience, service. 10/10, would recommend!
My first dining experience in over a year. We had an outdoor table, in a streetside shack, and it was a great experience. I can tell the crew is taking COVID precautions very seriously, which is exactly what I was looking for in my dining experience. They took our names and phone numbers for tracing information, checked out temperatures, and required masks. Great dining experience for us!
The food: we had brunch and purchased a variety of items - the monkey bread, french toast, two biscuits, and crispy chicken sandwich. I’d only order the french toast and biscuits again. The other items just were not for us - others may love them! We also had a mimosa and rum swizzle. Both were very strong, so be ready for that, but good.
We ate outside in one of their "shacks" that is covered on three sides. It was nevertheless very cold.
The wine we ordered, recommended by the sommeliere, was expensive but not very good all.
The food was wonderful! Particularly the huge delicious 44 Farms Ribeye steak, cooked just right.
The waitress was friendly and efficient.
I would go again.
We had a wonderful time. The food was great, and the service was excellent. The COVID precautions were well done and thought out.
Atmosphere was really cool, staff was awesome and food was delicious
Such a safe and tasty Covid dining experience !! The host took out temperatures before taking us to our freshly cleaned outdoor table in a booth. The steak was equally amazing. Best date night ever!!!
