St. Anselm - DC
Celebrated my boyfriend's bday and Everything was amazing. Will definitely come back and can't wait to try their brunch.
I took a chance on this restaurant with no personal recommendations. It was fantastic! I loved the outdoor space, the vibe of the neighborhood, and the friendly waitstaff. It made my last night in DC special. The food was really delicious. DO NOT pass up on the fabulous biscuits...they are the bomb! I would have taken a barrel of these home with me!
Good meal, good service, good ambience. Super impressed with their COVID protocols and felt safe from start to finish.
The food was good, love the monkey bread! Appreciate their flexibility in letting us change our reservation from inside to outside.
This was my 2nd visit to St. Anselm, and the 1st during COVID. I was impressed with the care being taken by the staff. Outdoor seating, reservations available, temps taken before getting a table, masks everywhere, limited menus (online via QR code, but paper ones available by request). They really seemed to be taking extra care. Be aware, the outdoor area can be windy, so wear layers in case you get chilled. I sat under a heater so it was very nice.
As far as food, I got a steak, biscuits, and a beverage. The steak was excellent (honestly, much better than the one I had on my 1st visit to St.A) as were the biscuits. The drink was a bit too strong for me, but I'm a light drinker so I'm sure heavier drinkers would like it better. So, if you are looking for some upscale dining during a pandemic, you could do worse than St. Anselm.
Great spot near Union Market. Staff was very friendly and timely with getting our food/drinks out. Food was excellent and prices were not bad at all. Outdoor seating was plentiful. Would highly recommend this place (especially starting with the buttermilk biscuits w/pimento cheese)
Wonderful outdoor dining! My partner and I went to dinner for his birthday. As always, the food was wonderful and the service amazing. In addition, the outdoor seating with heaters made it an enjoyable night out during these covid times.
Everything was delicious, the staff was all very nice.
Definitely some of the best brunch I've had in DC - AMAZING food, super reasonable prices, attentive staff, and large outdoor seating area
Amazing food! Beautiful ambience!
Excellent as usual
The staff at St. Anselm did an AMAZING job in a tough situation w/Covid...I took my girlfriend there for her birthday and it was absolutely perfect, even with the stressed situation and social distancing...If you haven't been to this restaurant, GO! The food is amazing, the cocktails are expertly crafted, and the ambiance can't be beat...good for a casual dinner with friends or for an event like a birthday. All credit to the staff for making it work in trying times.
The food was delicious and the wine recommendations were excellent. They also have a delicious brunch!
It’s was wonderful, very thorough handling all COVID guidelines!
I much prefer the dinner menu at St. Anselm than the brunch menu. The still have a lot of the great appetizers and mains, but the brunch plates themselves could use more work.
Everything on the menu is delicious! And the service is great!
Amazing! Perfectly prepared.
Mediocre food that is too pricey. Can get twice the quality at half the price in Annapolis pubs! Thanks for not warning us that you are lucky to get a parking spot within six blocks.
St. Anselm is always amazing. We made a reservation and was seated right around the time that we were suppose to. We were able to sit inside and everything distanced well. The server was nice and attentive. I would always highly recommend.
Food was fantastic! The biscuits are a must. Great drinks and service. Definitely need a reservation otherwise you'll be waiting for a while.
Service was excellent and the food and drinks were absolutely delicious!
Always quality experience. Food is on point.
COVID safety protocols are seamless and efficient.
Great wait staff, grossly overpriced. Very strict eating rules.
Most foods I could make but nice to get out!
Liked the history and flags hanging
Absolutely delicious plates and fabulous presentation. Great portion sizes too! Will come again & again
The service and quality of food is not comparable to the ambiance. I've been here several times and I'm afraid to say that the quality of food and service for the amount of money you spend has declined every time I've come. I bought my boyfriend here after raving about it. The service didn't meet our expectations for the price point. My boyfriend's inquiry of "what's good here, what are your most requested menu items?" was met with an "ummm, depends on what you're in the mood for. We have steak, salmon and other seafood items". Well, clearly we can see what's on the menu. This was his opportunity to sell us on an experience - but that didn't happen. I don't want to deter anyone from going because I think the place was awesome at one point. I just want this review to become a part of the management's assessment of areas to improve upon.
St. Anselm is a great choice for a meal, or just drinks. The staff are exceptionally friendly and professional. They have a touchless thermometer in the foyer that scans your forehead. Extensive wine list (dozens of pages). Music is bluesy, classic rock that definitely fits with the decor. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Worst steak I’ve ever had... rubbery, fatty, had to send back as too rare which sld not happen in a steakhouse. Waiter acted like he was on speed, jiggy, never took time to shoot the breeze... generally lousy experience.
Nice ambience and good food!
They have done an excellent job during this time with Covid-19 to make the restaurant experience great.
A wonderful meal outside on a beautiful day. Who can ask for more?
Unseasonably hot on a November Sunday, wish they had more shade for the outside seating. Food and staff was amazing, can’t wait to come back for dinner.
For a last dinner, St. Anselm is a solid choice. The social distancing is taken seriously without creating an uncomfortable experience. The service was amazing and truly listened to our tastes and made sure that the portions matched our appetites. I'd highly recommend asking the sommelier for suggestions when ordering a bottle of wine.
We had a rare date night and the virus protection measures were very much appreciated. As always the wine and meal was top notch. The only complaint would be the chairs were uncomfortable and the table legs were a problem for someone over 6’.
Enjoyed food and ambience
The service was good, but the food was really just average. I was not impressed, but I may give them another shot someday.
President-Elect Biden and VP-Elect Harris won the election
Grey experience. Best implementation of Covid precautions I’ve observed in the industry.0
The food was out of this world!!!! I had the salmon and it was unbelievable, easily the best salmon I have ever had. My boyfriend had the ribeye and said the same about his meal. We were very impressed with everything.
The steaks were as good as prime steaks. They were seasoned perfectly. Great first visit.
