St. Anselm - DC
One of the best in town. Our go-to place for meat and those gorgeous oysters with herbs, Would be even better if the music was either of another genre or a handful of decibels lower.
Had the most fabulous dinner at St. Anselm last night. We got there early they were able to accommodate us before our reservation. We sat outside in one of the booths and it felt very COVID safe and intimate. Our server was great, very knowledgeable about the menu and suggesting wine/beverage pairings. The biscuits and pimento cheese spread are amazing. But the grilled oysters where the showstopper for us, so good! Highly recommend for a romantic date night or small group of friends!
Excellent meal, service, decor, drinks, etc. This is our third and best visit. Pro tip, save room for dessert.
Dîner with a guest
Celebrated Mother’s Day! Friendly staff and good food.
Solid place, great drinks, lamb leg is fantastic and I'm a cattle rancher....
Went for Mother’s Day and they went above and beyond to make it special! The service was phenomenal and my mother was gifted an extra glass of sparkling wine as a treat. An incredible experience overall!
Outstanding food and extraordinary service
Fantastic food. The outside dining stalls are very comfortable.
Great Mother’s Day dinner. We thought the small plates were great. The carrot cake was also very delicious. We went for the ax handle rib-eye which was tasty, but we decided that ordering 3-4 more small plates to share would have been better.
We arrived on time and were seated promptly in an outdoor booth as requested. Our servers were masked, and attended to us within a minute. Our orders were cooked as specified, and the wines were excellent. We have a new favorite restaurant 'St. Anselm in DC.
Overall, good food, love the biscuits however, we had several mixups with our meal for a party of three.
1) eggs cooked incorrectly- server brought out corrected item
2) incorrect salad brought out, server corrected
3) assistant server dropped plate and a little bit of grease on my shirt.
Overall I think perhaps more attentiveness is warranted. I will cone back because I love the food…. (When it is the correct order :-)
Fun restaurant, awesome food. Don’t miss the pimento cheese biscuits. Tables are Very nicely separated for covid.
The day was a bit chilly so the team did their best to accommodate our party with different seating and the use of warmers. Overall the food was great and the service was very good,
Great food ... service started slow but then was great ...
Visited the St. Anselm, DC, on Mother's Day for the first time. The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. They have a great selection of amazing wines and food selections, must try their Buttermilk Biscuits.
We had an awesome server who truly cared about our experience and explained food & wine items. I plan to visit again and highly recommend St. Anselm, DC if you want good food and wine. It is a nice place to go with family, friends, or a partner.
Oysters and beef tartar were outstanding. Ribeye was surprisingly so-so, expected more given the price. Best dessert I ever had in my life. Excellent service.
We enjoyed a lovely anniversary dinner at St. Anselm. The outdoor seating was nicely done, the service was friendly and impeccable -- including a complimentary after dinner drink to honor our celebration, the food was delicious. Just great.
Amazing outdoor experience. Dominique was professional, entertaining and prompt.
This is an excellent place for a romantic date night or amazing dinner with friends.
Terrific entrees, though pricey. Overall excellent service.
Joshua, my waiter was amazing up until the bottle of sparkling water I ordered and did not finish, he got rid of the cap and used a wine cap, I was a bit apprehensive about it but he assured me it would be alright.
It wasn’t. The sparkling water spilled all over my car, purse and phone. That annoyed me. I asked him if I could get another bottle instead because it was paid for and I guess he either didn’t want to or it’s not anselm’s position to do so? Either way, it was very annoying and dampened my great mood of having great dinner.
We went here for a birthday and they were SO sweet -- they brought us free champagne, were so attentive and we were checked in on often. The food was phenomenal and absolutely worth every cent. They even had to adjust our reservation because of patio renovations so they paid for our dessert! A lovely experience and we left full and happy :)
This is my favorite restaurant right now in DC. The service is always great, food is spectacular and drinks are on point.
Just not up to what I’d expect from a customer service level not value for the food. Unfortunately, we just wouldn’t return.
Had a very nice dinner there. The food was very good and they were accommodating to our dietary restrictions. The waitress Amy was attentive and gave great service!
Check this place out for sure!
great food and wonderful options. highly recommend the biscuits!
I looked at the menu and thought it was going to be an average steakhouse. Turns out, I was completely wrong and all expectations were blown out of the water.
Everything we ordered was a level above what you’d expect in terms of flavor, their beverage director recommended a great bottle of wine, all the staff was incredibly friendly, and best of all, the decor was nice but it wasn’t pretentious.
One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time and will be sure to go back soon.
- Endive Salad
- Radish and Whipped Ricotta
Food great. Service poor
Both the rockfish and the steak were cooked perfectly, and the creamed spinach was delicious. Of course, the pimento spread and bread were wonderful. The outdoor seating was very nice. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed his birthday dinner at St. Anselm and we certainly will return. The outdoor dining aspect is so inviting.
Food is amazing and the outside tables were very comfortable on a May evening. Service is outstanding and Covid protocols are good to see.
I love St. Anselm!!!🥰 The outdoor eating semi private booths are much nicer than a lot of other restaurants. I have visited St. Anselm at least 5 times. I also make sure to recommend to my friends. My only complaint is the absence of the Bobo chicken on the menu.😒
It was my first time eating at this restaurant and I had a very pleasant time along with my date. Great service and pleasant environment. The smashed potatoes were amazing!!
We called and made a reservation for 4, I called a week prior to add a 5th, when we arrived, the table was set for 5 but told us they could not seat us, only 4. We asked if there was anything they could do to seat 5 of us together and that we would be happy to squeeze at a 4 person table or pull up chairs outside. They dismissed us and made us leave. This was a very disappointing experience.
Came for my wife’s birthday. The food and service were fantastic, as we would have expected from past visits.
Amazing food, impeccable service. If you are celebrating you must get the giant prawn. It’s a show stopper.
Food and service were great! Particularly the sommelier ! Only complaint was the music being played outside was way too loud. It interferes with normal conversation.
Not a huge fan of this restaurant because the menu options for lunch are so few that we wound up not eating here.
Very good customer service. Food was delicious. It would be nice if the menu had vegan options
Food was great but service was very slow. Took a while to order and get drinks.
