St. Anselm - DC
Felt very safe during covid times with contact tracing and temperature checks upon arrival. The service is wonderful. Great place for outdoor dining with heated enclosures and heated outdoor seating
One of my favorite restaurants in the city. Great food, service, and ambiance.
The restaurant is great - steaks are the specialty for sure. The ambiance is nice and they have these great enclosed heated “cabanas” (exactly the same as Le Dip), which are great, but not ideal for more than two people in a four top, as the heat comes out of a vent rather than a traditional heat lamp. Service is spectacular and it’s a great date spot. Pro tip - turn a two top around and each sit with your back to the street, if you can’t get a four top.
We enjoyed an excellent outdoor meal. Our server, Kendra, was welcoming and charming. She made excellent recommendations. The sommelier was also terific. She offered several options and the selections perfectly complimented out meal. The small outdoor setups are cozy and warm but also allow for good ventilation.
Great COVID-19 protocols!
Incredible food.
Chic outdoor dining options.
This restaurant has done a terrific job in handling outdoor seating during our pandemic. We just had brunch outside in the "compartments" and were very comfortable and they took extra precautions, temperature, etc. to keep everyone safe. Food was delicious !
Not worth the cold unless you get a hut. Crazy that they don’t prioritize reservations for the huts
The food and drink were an A+ but expensive, which we expected. The service was fair at best (may just have been our server who shared that they were having an off night). Our outside table was sandwiched between 2 heaters which looked promising, but they were not very warm or powerful - put a damper on the experience as it was a chilly night even though we were dressed appropriately. There are dining “huts” which looked comfortable so be sure to request one of those! We didn’t know that you have to reserve ahead of time so were S.O.L.
I feel so safe going to St. Anselm and love their new booths outside. If you go for brunch, make sure to get the biscuits and pimento because it'll rock your world. Great services and great food, cannot recommend enough.
Hospitality of Mr. Peter Koll and the outdoor setups.
Tried the new covered dining outside due to COVID restrictions. Heat wasn't as warm as I thought it would be,but it was still comfortable. Definitely would recommend.
Overall great. We went the next day for brunch.
They have a really great pandemic set up for outdoor seating and cleaning protocols.
The service, the food and attention to detail is worth the trip into the District.
I've been to St. Anselm for dinner and brunch a few times, this past visit 1/2/2021 was my first time visiting since the beginning of the pandemic. I was very thankful to see how seriously and thoughtfully the restaurant was taking everything. From contact tracing, 6 ft apart guidelines and temperature checks. The staff was all wonderful as usual, and the new heated outdoor spaces are AMAZING for winter! They require that everyone wear their mask when the server enters the little outdoor space which I really appreciated, that's taking care of patrons and staff!
The food was wonderful as always, we went for brunch at 11:45 am and they were unfortunately already out of the monkey bread which was disappointing. Otherwise, everything cooked to perfection.
Great brunch, outstanding service and as COVID safe as possible!
Great winter outdoor seating for COVID
Those biscuits though
The food and service were fantastic. However, being outside made the whole experience not worth it. The metal chairs kept us cold and the wind prevented any heat from the outdoor heaters from actually making it to us. When I say “no” to recommending a friend, I mean that I say no to outside dining in DC during the winter covid months. The food itself was amazing.
Overall it was a great experience. There is plenty of outdoor dining space with heaters. We love St. Anselm.
Food was amazing and our server, EJ, was excellent and on point with the recommendations!
We had planned to sit outside; but there was a table next to the door available so we sat there. We were far away from others seated inside. The food is always amazing, but was particularly good on this special night.
The cheese and charcuterie selection had something for everyone, and the larger item on the menu gave my hungrier partner something more substantial to enjoy. The wine list is fabulous representing a wide variety of grapes and price ranges. The cozy back yard vibes and the fire pit made us feel right at home.
Absolutely love St. Anselm! Great spot for a date night or special occasion. Definitely get the pork chop!
great place for a meal. Would recommend it and def going back again soon!
As always food was great and they are really taking precautions with Covid. Temperature checked and contacts info. Love this place.
The food and service were outstanding as always. A little confused about the decor and the lack of racial diversity in the motifs I saw, though.
Fantastic food and neat decor. The staff was all super nice and sat us a little before our reservation
Food was good. Ribeye was slightly over cooked (ask for medium rare). Biscuits and Deviled eggs were great. Baked oysters had a weird aftertaste. Sword fish was delicious.
The food and service were excellent as always! The service especially!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
However, the outside dining experience is hampered by heat lamps that don’t seem to heat anything. We had two near our table, but to no avail. We felt nothing. Shortest meal ever.
Incredible food, great service and atmosphere. Definitely going back!
This was my first visit and I had heard so many good things. I was a bit underwhelmed, but I know the menu was somewhat limited. My cider cocktail was good, but it could have used an additional shot. The pancakes were fluffy, but could have been a bit more cooked. The sausage was very good. I will probably give it another shot, but it wasn't amazing.
This is my favorite restaurant in DC! I brought my friend with me for his first time and he also loved it! You can never go wrong with the wedge salad, smashed potatoes (the dill ranch is so good), and of course the famous biscuits! I’ve had probably every cut of steak, but my favorite is still the butchers cut. Amazing wine list, but I’d ask your server for a recommendation if you get overwhelmed easily (its huge). Also their brunch is to die for, I had the corn beef hash and it literally melted in my mouth..
It was absolutely freezing and out party was seated outside. Although there were heaters places around, you would’ve needed a large jacket, blanket, and constant hot tea to be comfortable. The menu looked great, but we didn’t end up staying for dinner.
Love the ambiance at St. A’s, the open kitchen and steak + seafood options are all good! My favorites are the monster prawns, salmon collar and bacon. Grilled oysters and whole bronzino are also delish. Everything is cooked over open flame so has a great grilled flavor. Can’t go wrong here!
I really enjoyed how organized everything was. My guest and I made a reservation for 7:45pm and got seated shortly upon arrival. The food was great and we really enjoyed our time there.
As always, great food. Also, an Informed and fun sommelier who had great recommendations for us!
Celebrated a friend's birthday with dinner outdoors and despite the cold, St. Anselm's accommodated us and the heaters were perfect.
Excellent food and great service! We had a table outside and stayed warm under the heat lamps.
St. Anselm always delivers amazing service and fabulous food. Also follows the highest of protocols for the pandemic. We opted to dine outside with heat lamps, so we missed the indoor stellar admo, but everything was still tops. Highly recommend the tequila cocktail, the endive salad, and the roasted oysters. Looking forward to the next visit already. Lucky to have St. Anselm as part of the rich tapestry of D.C. restaurants. Support them no more than ever!!!
