   The meal began with a caesar salad which was cool, crisp, and perfectly dressed. My wife had the short rib special. I was lucky enough to get a bite. It was tender, loaded with flavor, and made me wish I had ordered it. I had the petite fillet which was also perfectly cooked and delicious, as were all the sides. It will become one of our favorite places to dine while in Bozeman.

   There was no host as we walked in someone came a looked for our reservation and said okay one second. 20 minutes passed by and 2 other couples were sat before us however they arrived after us. After finally getting to the table the services was strange right off the bat. Our server sat down with us at the table to take our order and did not have the ability to answer any of our questions. We received our appetizers pretty quickly and they were good. It then took an 45 minutes after finishing our appetizers for our entree to come out. There was only 4 other tables in use at the restaurant and 2 people at the bar. Overall strange experience would not recommend this to any of my friends.

   We have become regulars at Squire House, over the past couple of years. Friendly staff, owner and the best cocktail in Bozeman, (The Bozeman) & beef short ribs never disappoint!

   Waitress was very nice but inexperienced so service suffered Food was cold and not very tasty. I ordered the special, a bacon wrapped filet. It came out as a 4oz filet with a piece of precooked bacon on top. Asparagus wasn’t cooked to done and potato purée appeared to be leftover. No one’s meal at our table was acceptable. It would appear this restaurant is in its way out. They have a total of 12 steak knives for the place; glassware is in short supply and the manager comes out in a dirty ball cap to ask how the meal is. I would think an upscale hotel such as the Element would ensure they have a better restaurant on property. The drinks were good. That’s it.

   We went for my fiancés 21st birthday and Jim was our server. He pampered my fiancé in the best way possible. Very sweet guy, great service, and funny. The food is amazing but we would go back just to see Jim again.

   We loved our server he was amazing! Jim was very knowledgeable and spoke with intelligent humor to entertain. We had the elk burger and Salmon. The elk burger was cooked beautifully, as for the salmon, not our favorite. They service Jim gave though made up for the Salmon.

   Dinner at The Squire House was a disappointment. I had the carbonara pasta and it was not tasty at all. The dish came out cold with clumps of unmelted cheese, the bacon was not crispy, and it was soaking in a salty broth. There was really no flavor except salt. Not at all what I would except expect for a carbonara. The shrimp cocktail was ok, but for $14 there were only 4 shrimp. We also ordered the filet, which was decent, but the potatoes seemed to be fake. They have an open kitchen concept and the chefs did not appear to be put together or show professionalism. With the prices we paid, this was a disappointment and just didn’t meet our expectations. Perhaps this restaurant has suffered from the Covid labor shortage and rising costs of food, and for that I would extend them some grace. They just need to up their game and put more quality and flavor into their dishes.

    Atmosphere is quiet and calm. Better than super load fancy restaurants. Food options are adequate but very tasty. The pork chop was great and the mashed potatoes are to die for. On top of this, the value is great. The Squire House is 15-25% less than other high-end eateries in Bozeman with great food and atmosphere!

    Great location in downtown Bozeman, close to parking garage so no worries about where to park. Food is always fabulous. High ceilings make it a little loud if the restaurant is busy - but not where you can't still have an enjoyable evening. I would recommend if you haven't been there.

    We had a great meal. The shrimp scampi was fantastic. My friend said his duck was outstanding. Our waiter Jim made the evening really nice. He was engaging, suggested a special and wonderful wine for us that we loved, and he really enhanced our evening. We will return.

    I have eaten here twice before when passing through Bozeman, thought the food was good. However this time we had an extremely rude server, had just ordered our food, ended up informing the manager that we couldn’t stay with this type of treatment and left. I’m not sure if I would go there again.

    We were disappointed. When we arrived we were told the cook was out and the bartender was the chef of the evening and most of the items on the menu were not available. Also, the menu listed online is not the menu (even before the unavailable items) that was at the table. I know the bartender tried, but the meal was not worth the price. I'm not sure it would have been any better even if the cook were present. The steak I ordered was grizzly and thin. We give an A for effort for the bartender. The other startling discovery was that for a town that is known for its many breweries, the beer selection was Corona, Stella, and a few other unimpressive bottles. No local bottles. Nothing on tap. Really? The waiter was friendly and nice, but overly attentive and sometimes intrusive as he would chime into the conversation we were having at the table. Had it not been that our guests were people we haven't seen in 10 years, we would have walked out. We just didn't want to waste precious moments looking for another dinner venue.

    I couldn’t tell you about the quality of the food. We were quite literally run out of the place by the most rude bartender/server I have ever experienced. Waited 30 minutes to be seated for our reservation in an empty restaurant. The bartender wanted us to order our food before we were even all seated. We left after her being too impatient for us to look at the menu and telling us we were disrespecting her time. Again, the restaurant was empty. I wonder why…? The manager chased us through the lobby of the hotel, and out to the street as we hurriedly walked out. He asked why we were leaving. When we told him he said that the bartender was off of her meds and he would fire her if we came back. Oh yeah, that’s why we came in for an overpriced dinner; to watch our unstable server publicly humiliated. Please avoid this place. There are plenty of other places in town that would gladly take half of your paycheck for dinner.

    Our food was tasty and well prepared. The drinks were refreshing. Had to wait a couple of minutes before a host acknowledged us, and not sure we were on their hand written reservations list but that didn't present a problem (they sat us in their 'private dining' space). Service was friendly but sporadic. The downside was that the place was warm (not as warm as our restaurant the next night) but marginally comfortable tbh. When asked to lower the temp, the server said this was a common problem as lowering the temp in the dining area froze those in the bar area. The server did, I believe, have them tick on the AC as the air did start circulating so appreciate the effort. It had been around 80 that day. Would go again if a more moderate weather.

    We had a great waiter. He had good conversation and also complimented how nice I looked this evening! He also was very perfessonal and got everything we needed very quickly. The food on the other hand was sub par. It was very bland. I ended up asked for more salt and only ate half of the meal because the rest was just a clump of cheese and red sauce. (I got the pomodoro) My date asked for a medium rare steak and he got closer to a medium well steak. Now he is the type of person who will say its good even if he isn't too keen on it... On the other hand, the fries were really good! Overall, the ambiance and service was great, they just need some work on perfecting the food but it does have a lot of potential. I will definitely be back to try it again.

    We arrived for an early evening dinner on Friday night. This is the Friday before July 4th. After waiting longer than we would expect and after being ignored by a couple of serving staff, we were finally seated . We were immediately told that they were not serving the beet chèvre salad and the chicken entree. This seemed odd on a special holiday weekend. One would expect the larder to be fully stocked. Now on to the salads that were pedestrian at best although my wife enjoyed the rhubarb vinaigrette. Dressings were served on the side. Very difficult to toss your own salads in the small serving bowl. My wife’s scallops were lacking in spices . The accompanying mushroom risotto was passable. My shrimp scampi dish was a disaster. It was a tasteless concoction served in a tasteless soup along with pappardelle noodles all served at a tepid temperature. We didn’t complain as we wanted to get done before a thunderstorm hit the area. Very disappointing for a restaurant rated highly by Trio Advisor.

    The lay out of the restaurant is perfect. Good Kitchen visibility, great bar and drinks, good food and a reasonable noise level where one can have a great conversation. Tables are perfectly spaced. Staff were very friendly and warm, but not intrusive. Would definitely recommend to friends!

    Our whole experience was subpar. We wanted outdoor dining for six people on short notice and Squire House was available. We had not dined here since it first opened (that subpar experience we wrote off as it being new and thought they needed to iron out the kinks). It was great to be outside. Server was somewhat attentive but not always friendly or helpful. Several items in our order were not quite correct—burger without cheese was brought with cheese. Double tall drink was brought as a single short drink. Our side of fries never came at all. Attention Celiacs—Many items are marked gluten-free on the menu but they are not actually gluten-free because they go in a communal fryer. And finally, we order three different wines that were all unavailable and finally settled on something that was not great. This was ho-hum and we probably won’t be back.

    Ask for Jim! He’s a fantastic server and a down home Montana man. The menu items are delicious! The Brussels sprouts make a great starter. The star of the show for me, though was the green bean casserole. This ain’t your mamma’s cream of mushroom soup y’all… it’s good eats.

    Food was alright, but I feel that it should have been better. Flavors didn’t “pop.” I dined solo, and initially the server tried to seat me facing the wall; I had to ask to face the rest of the dining room. In the end, I was sitting at an awkward table, tucked in a corner. Service was awkward at best: not rushed, not relaxed. It was as if the server didn’t know how to handle a table of one. Didn’t hate it, but not in a rush to go back.

    French onion soup has cheese melted on top of cold soup. Pasta was crunchy. Maybe sitting too long under the warming lights. Great and friendly server and manager.

    We were visiting from Hawaii and was recommended this place from some locals. We really enjoyed every about this place. The food was delicious and the service was great. Our server was patient, attentive, and answer all our questions. Our experience was wondering and if we happen to visit Bozeman again we will definitely be back.

    The staff is really great and accommodating. That being said, I had to send back the mussels we ordered twice because they had not cooked to the point of opening (or they were bad and never going to open). The elk bolognese is really not a sauce but crushed meatballs over pasta. My filet was well done despite ordering medium rare and the mushrooms and broccoli sides were raw. While the staff comped our mussels and a dessert, unfortunately the meal was just overpriced for the quality.
