With great food and breathtaking views, the Spyglass Inn Restaurant has been a favorite for locals and travelers alike since 1984. The Spyglass Inn Restaurant is owned by Doug and Susan Redican, notable Central Coast restauranteurs, and is part of the California Coastal Restaurants group which also includes Rose’s Bar & Grill in Morro Bay. Relax and enjoy the afternoon sun or take in the beautiful sunsets and clear starry nights as you listen to the surf crashing below. You may even see whales, dolphins, and seals as they occasionally pass by.

The hostess had a really bad idea of logic when it came to seating reservations. We came in for a special occasion and were treated like crap. Said our tables couldn’t be together, when we found out our party was downsized we asked if we could get a larger table to accommodate but it was not allowed even though there was one available and it would free up 2 additional tables. The biased and server both didn’t understand what the big deal was. We finally asked for a manager and the “non-problem” was solved immediately! It appeared that the incompetent hostess merely had a power trip combined with attitude and absolutely senseless. She clearly has the wrong job! Sad because everyone and everything else here is wonderful. If they removed the infection running the wrong show I’d say 5 stars for sure!!

We were the servers last table and it definitely felt like it. I know what it is like to work in food service and be almost ready to leave but regardless you should give your 100% while on the job. She was nice but her attentiveness could’ve been better. It was my choice to go there for our wedding anniversary and I was a bit disappointed.

So...the view alone is worth the visit (just breath taking). We had breakfast there (we stayed at the Inn). We had the friendliest server we've ever had. She was peppy and attentive (we couldn't help smiling each time she checked on our table). My husband had the avocado toast and I had the Spyglass Breakfast (2 eggs, choice of meet, 2 pancakes). Everything was delicious. To top it off...the price was great. We are planning on visiting Pismo again in the fall and we will definitely visit Spyglass Inn Restaurant again.

Excellent meal from start to finish. Our party of 4 celebrated a birthday at a lovely outdoor table and thoroughly enjoyed the food , service and ambiance. The only downer was another table not far from ours included a very loud patron who may or may not have had too much to drink.

We've eaten here for years and always had a good experience, as recent as two weeks ago with out of town guests, however, today was bad from start to finish.
I was pleasantly surprised to see a Woodford Reserve Old Fashioned made with Luxardo Cherries on the menu, so we ordered a round for the table and when they came they were made with a maraschino cherry and crushed ice.
If you don't have Luxardo Cherries, do NOT put it on the menu. There is no comparison.
And our meals were no better. Chicken sandwiches were dry and flavorless. Tarter sauce had an odd flavor.

We really enjoyed our meal out on the patio overlooking the ocean. It was beautiful. The food and service were excellent. Tuesday is all you can eat crab legs and my husband was thrilled! I highly recommend this restaurant!

All you can eat crab night was great. crab was cooked just right and we left stuffed after a second helping. With our reservation, we were seated immediately, while I noticed others were waiting for a table. Using open table for reservation worked like a charm.

This was the worst service I have ever received along PCH. I was treated rudely from the moment I arrived and waited more than 15 minutes at the table before a server came.
I do not recommend this restaurant for anyone going as single diner. If you do go with a group, the coconut shrimp were quite good, but skip the garlic fries.

The view is nice, but it didn’t make up for the inhospitable staff.

Was quoted a corkage fee of $10, charged $15 and the waiter wasn’t old enough to open the wine so my boyfriend opened it and yet we were still charged a corkage fee. Dinner came minutes of eating our salad. Got cold quickly, felt rushed. Disappointing as we were celebrating a birthday.

Food quality less than previous visits. Clam chowder well below previous visits. Server was very good and attentive, not his fault. Table was very tacky. Glasses kept getting stuck to the table. Keeping front door open always makes for a constant cold draft.

We were very excited to have dinner celebrating our 25th Anniversary, however our experience was not good. We reserved an outside table but the weather was not good and requested an inside table. This seemed to upset the staff and they made us wait 30 minutes for another seat meanwhile seating walk-in guest. Our server seemed as though she did not want to wait on us. She did not bring any water to our table or napkins. She was not available to us the whole time. We had to ask another server and busboy to assist us. This restaurant was highly recommended and my husband was looking forward to the all you can eat crab. He only had 2 crabs split out in 2 servings. Which would have been less expensive if just ordered off the menu. In all I feel that since we were the only BLACK guest that our service was diminished! Our bill was $150.00 and we were very disappointed. We could have eaten at another establishment for a lot less with better service. We travel all over the country and just expected better in California!

We made a reservation and were early, they refused to seat us and were extremely rude, even though they had tables available. The hostesses gossiped at the desk and were ignoring customers besides treating us so poorly.

One of the very best restaurants to eat and enjoy the Central California Coast. Met friends we hadn't seen in years and ended up staying on the terrace for four hours. Had a wonderful time. Food and service was excellent. Thank you Spyglass staff!!

Shrimp and lobster tacos we had. The lobster was terrible. Not cooked enough. Told the waiter. Waiter asked if we wanted to return and we didn't want to make a scene and wait for more food to be cooked.

We booked for brunch and when we arrived at 11:30 were told that they are now serving lunch! Disappointing as we were in the mood for brunch.

We had instead the California burger and the hot crab sandwich...neither were great.

So, the experience was meh.
