We had the most wonderful luncheon! Our waiter was tops, the food was delicious, and even parking was easy!! Definitely the best hamburger around in the most elegant space!!!
A fabulous experience...Spruce is superb in every way.
Joined a friend for a casual lunch of Waldorf Salad and Mussels with fries. Both meals were delicious, best versions of each we’ve had. The service was professional and attentive, with helpful direction for the extensive wine list.
In SF to visit my daughter who lives there. Restaurant reminded me of NY restaurant which is where I am from.
I gave cash for the gratuity. Which is 20% of the bill already. But when I check my online statement, and found out they charged me another 16 dollars on top of my original bill. I am confused.... never had something like this happened to me.
Spruce has been our favorite since we had our first date here in 2013. We moved out of the city but still come in for any special occasion. It never disappoints.
Excellent high end dining. Superb service and creative, beautiful food to match. Right up there with the best meals I've had
A bit expensive but the ambiance was fantastic and the food was tasty. Great for special occasions but no way you can have dinner and wine while spending less than $200.
I have been to Spruce several times, especially as an special dinner for guests visiting SF. In fact, last weekend, was the second visit for CT friends who begged to return to Spruce. Everything about Spruce never disappoints.
The wine pours were very small. When we questioned our waiter concerning this issue, the reaction was patronizing and condescending. Disappointing and surprising that such a costly restaurant would react in such a fashion.
Perfect! Service was impeccable.
Exceptional service! The food was all cooked to perfection and uniquely presented. Loved dining here!
Unexpected New York style power restaraunt located in a charming neighborhood. Food was outstanding. And the chocolate chip cookies shouldn’t be missed.
Great food and ambience. Expensive. Quiet.
Ask about the tasting menu. It's not on the menu, but if you're only going to eat here once...ask. They'll do a 5 course or a 7 course. And you'll LOVE it!
Very fun location. Beautiful room. Fun menu. Great wine list. Michelin star food and service without the usual Michelin stuffiness. We went for lunch and are already planning to have dinner next time we're in SF.
This is our "go to" for a nice restaurant, or when friends and family want an evening out. The food is always delicious, and the staff are extra friendly. They always seem to know when we need or want something. Parking is so much easier than downtown.
The service/ambiance/food weren’t bad; but not memorable either. I would have expected higher quality ingredients and better preparation from a Michelin started restaurant.
Not my usual stellar experience.
We had an amazing experience as we always have. This is our favorite place for special occasions.
I was looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate an important business milestone. I did a search and came across the 38 essential SF restaurants published by SF Eater. We selected Spruce based on quality reviews it received and table availability since we were making a last minute reservation. What we walked into was a lovely experience in both food and service. Everything we ordered from starters, to the main course, and dessert at the end was exceptional. Tastes were delicate but balanced in every way. My chicken and the salmon my colleagues ordered was cooked to perfection. The sommolier was very helpful in picking a wine for us to share within our price-point, and the dessert of beignets Spruce-style was a perfect way to close the evening; the sauces were especially well done.
This is a definite "return-to" restaurant.
Food was spectacular and our server gave us options to the existing menu. Very attentive and accommodating
We’ve been here many times. Was truly disappointed this time. First we were seated outside in the cold room out front. We had requested the bar room. We actually like it better. We then moved to a pretty horrible table near where servers enter and exit. Our choice, but seemed better since we were I. The main room at least.
We usually get the burgers and they never disappoint. But this time they did! I couldn’t believe that they were lack luster.
Our server was the best! He made our experience so much fun.
Everything was great. It’s expensive but $50 corkage is out of line!
Not sure what took me so long to catch on, but this is becoming one of my favorite restaurants in SF. It’s probably in my top 3
Overpriced dinner. Much better places in SF for this price point.
Burger for lunch is the way to go and only reason I’d return here.
The service was SUPERB - our lovely server made the perfect recommendations for each us, with different dietary restrictions. The entire staff was very attentive to our table - never a water glass left half empty, and everything - from cocktails to dessert - was simply perfection.
Stellar service, amazing food, and an overall cool and moody vibe made for a truly memorable evening. We could not have had a nicer meal.
Overall, it was a nice dining experience but not as good as Village Pub, Spruce's sister restaurant in Woodside. Salmon was overcooked (even after server made a point of saying that it would be served medium rare) and coffee arrived long after our dessert was served. The brussell sprouts, gnocchi and desserts were exceptional.
The food was very good - I had the mussels and the broth had just the right amount of pernod to give it good flavor. We were celebrating a birthday and and with dessert, my sister was presented with a dinner plate that had Happy Birthday inscribed on the plate along with a small morsel of cheese cake and a single candle - very nice touch.
Great food with attentive service without being intrusive. Creative twist on some dishes. The kitchen knows how to cook the dishes without being dry.
There was a set menu at $190 per head for Valentine’s Day that they never mentioned in the 3times I spoke to them on the phone, not a pleasant surprise!
It was Valentine’s Day and they had an excellent prefix menu. It was excellent. The service and meal was excellent. We were seated in the front room by the fire place but the room was cold. Two couples were seated in the room but complained and were quickly moved to the main dining room. I had asked the hostess if they could turn up the thermostat and they accommodated our request and did warm up the room it my wife was still cold.
BUT the meal was EXCELLENT as well as the service.
Nothing but excellence
Service felt really clunky.
Ordered two apps the tortellini and the charcuterie board. Was really disappointed when they both came out at the same time. Seems pretty obvious they should’ve each been their own course right? When charcuterie was dropped the runner was about to go over what each one was when our sever came up behind her squeezed her out to give us plates and utensils (probably should’ve been done before that moment right?) the girl never told us what each item was as a result. Said he would pick up where she left off which he didn’t and everyone walked away. So never really knew what was in the board. Never got steak knives for the steak. Steak was also super bland, clearly cooked in a bag which is just not ideal in my opinion. The amaro we ordered with dessert didn’t show up till we were long done with dessert and had already accepted it probably wasn’t coming at all. Pretty lackluster meal overall. The price tag definitely stung.
For the first time I was really disappointed in one of my favorite restaurants. The service was off. The food wasn't delivered as ordered. The meal wasn't piping hot. Overall, an iconic SF place did not live up to its previous self.
Absolutely flawless execution service-wise and food-wise. Ambiance lively and lovely. Expect a HUGE bill, however. Prices are off the charts. We have lived in SF and are in the food business, so we expect higher prices. This was much too much. (Came to $600+ for 6 drinks total, 4 appetizers, 4 entrees, and 2 desserts.) Judge for yourself. A wonderful meal with great good friends, but a whopping bill.
I had two lemon drop Frist one was good but second one did not taste good at all. I thought it was odd to serve the same cocktail in such different taste.
I had lobster which was good but side vege, onion was too hard and could not finish it. My boyfriend had beef. He said Ruth Chris was better.
I ordered chocolate mousse for dessert and it was wonderful. However the pot of tea was pathetic. It was very weak as if they steeped it with used tea bag (probably they did) and lukewarm. My boyfriend had coffee and he said not good at all.
I’m gluten free and they accommodated it very well. More than anything we enjoyed the Atmosphere and the service.
I was a little disappointed with bad cocktails tea and side vegetables.
