Fancy fine dining, San Francisco style. Bring your elders.
Delicious food, exquisite wine, impeccable service, sexy ambiance
We had a wonderful meal and evening!
Always a wonderful birthday experience!
Great! Duck was wonderful!
Excellent service staff! We were glad to be here in our 4th anniversary.
Wow, Spruce was a center piece of our visit to San Francisco. We stayed in the Presidio and had easy access to Spruce which is in an adjacent neighborhood. Our dinner was EXCELLENT from start to finish, and the restaurant staff was very attentive to our needs. The food was fantastic. We really appreciated interacting with Jamie, the head Sommelier, and hearing about the extensive wine collection at Spruce.
We return to San Francisco (coming from Arizona) again in July, and we have already made a reservation to return to Spruce.
Have been here numerous times both with my boyfriend as a date night and with family in a bigger group. Every time I’ve been here the food and wine are absolutely amazing. The service is always on point. Definitely a huge gem in San Francisco.
An unbelievable experience with delicious brunch items and phenomenal drinks. The service was to die for, and this restaurant brings everything one comes to expect from a Michelin Star restaurant, and more. Highly recommended, one of my top three in SF.
Spruce is one of the premier restaurants in San Francisco if you are looking for incredibly fresh, high quality cuisine, an astonishing wine list, and amazing service. Reasonably, one should expect to pay for such indulgences in SF these days.
Attitude at the door and on phone. Service was good once a server finally came to table. Very expensive for a mediocre product
It is not worth the cost. There are dozens of restaurants with more innovative and taste-filled food for half the cost
A truly excellent meal in a lovely room with outstanding service. Lovely, well chosen, comprehensive wine list. Much better than many trendy ‘hot spots’ that have popped-up in the Bay Area over the last several years.
It was my second time at Spruce, we went for my husbands' birthday and it was AMAZING!! We took the eggs Benedicte, it was really delicious and all the staff wished a Happy Birthday to my husband, that was really nice! Of course, I will recommend Spruce for all my friends!
Overrated. Food should be much better. Chewy chicken and not fresh as should be lettuce. V disappointing!
Really a special place for a special occasion.
Spruce has top notch service. The decor is great and the music definitely sets the mood. The Cauliflower soup was excellent as well as the burger.
Starters: Gem Lettuce and Agnolotti... 5 stars
Entrees: New York Steak and Halibut... 5 stars
Hostess: 1 star; so sorry you were inconvenienced because we did not like where we were seated (alcove in the back)...shame on you.
First time dining at Spruce and was generally impressed. Limited menu (the kind that I like!) Great Cesar salad, Halibut was prepared perfectly, extensive wine list and knowledgeable SOM, and finished off with warm beignets. At $350 for 2 out the door with a $100 wine, not inexpensive and they could increase the entree size by a few ounces. Overall very good dining experience!
Fantastic service, great wait staff & Rachel’s recommendations of wine paired wonderfully with our food!
We can’t wait to go back!
Spruce is a comfortable upscale restaurant. Good service, interesting and good food.
Horrible the chicken wasn’t cooked and the cocktails had no alcohol in them over priced
Food, Service and Ambience were all excellent and deserving of a Michelin Star restaurant.
The service was excellent and so was the food. It was quiet and we were able to have a good conversation.
The room is beautiful and not so loud you can't talk. The service is professional and attentive. The food was disappointing, not terrible, but just okay
Food, service and atmosphere consistently excellent. Great restaurant for special occasions.
Vince was awesome!!
The service is always terrific. Our waiter was very knowledgeable. We had cauliflower veloute, which was fabulous, followed by two fish entrees: halibut and scallops. Dessert was superb.
Star quality service every time!
The wine was very good but outrageously expensive, but beyond that this place is fabulous.
Overall a very splendid and memorable dinner date.
Daniel is the best waiter in town!
Food doesn't rise to the level of the prissy presentation and the $$ prices. And, at least on this occasion, it was beyond too loud for a conversation. If a restaurant is this expensive and the food just okay, one should be able to at least talk with one's companions. Plus, we left feeling hungry so had to snack on leftovers when we got home! Silly, really.
Dining at Spruce is a lovely experience. Our waiter was delightful--friendly and accessible, attentive without being intrusive. The duck was the best I've had in any restaurant (my husband's duck, which spends three days in the fridge, is also excellent). We had pistachio ice cream for dessert, which was delicious and creamy. Just the right texture and level of sweetness. Love this place!
We had an early dinner on a Saturday evening after an afternoon performance. We were seated in the front room, which is an alcove off the entrance with four tables. At first, we were a bit put off by this, but given how noisy and crowded the main dining room was by the time we left, we were glad we were seated there. Service is quite good, attentive and knowledgeable. As regards the food, some dishes were better than others; the asparagus salad was lacking but the chicken was quite good. The wine list is enormous and quite expensive but we were able, with the staff's help, to find a reasonable Italian white wine that went with our food quite well. It was my husband's birthday and they brought a special "happy birthday" dessert for him. This appears to be the neighborhood restaurant serving the tony Pacific Heights crowd. Not sure I'd make it my neighborhood restaurant at these prices.
Service was impeccable , food delicious,
A great experience.
Excellent food and service in a very upscale restaurant. Really enjoyed the meal!!
Lots of couples dining on our Friday night visit.
Fantastic experience- will be back!
Always one of the absolute best places to be if you're looking for a classy, quiet and absolutely delicious meal. Service is out of this world. Every visit is a special occasion
We decided on Spruce last minute for our last meal in SF and it was wonderful! Definitely one of our favorite meals.
