Spruce is one of the finest restaurants in San Francisco. Spruce opened in 2007, and the restaurant is impeccable. Service is extraordinary. Wine list and cellar unparallelled, and while the service is present, it is never overbearing. Extremely professionally trained staff, incredible chef, menus and comfort. The bar area is lovely. Wonderful atmosphere.

Because of the pandemic, they are offering outdoor dining, take out and delivery. The outdoor dining continues to showcase the delicious food and wine and impeccable service.

Dining indoors was like watching the perfect onstage performance.

With shutdowns in our future, this is a restaurant to return to, and support. They train and treat their employees with dignity and grace.

Do take out and delivery. When they offer outdoor dining, book a reservation, and tip generously for their staff.

Any restaurant in their group, has the same fine qualities: The Village Pub in Woodside, Shelby's in Atherton, The Village Bakery and Cafe in Woodside, among others.

By far the best food experience I have ever had. The service was excellent. Everyone was professional, courteous, and charming. I was a little bit cold as we sat outside, and they offered to bring out another heater for me. Each element of each dish was prepared to perfection. The ambiance of the restaurant was beautiful and inviting, despite being outside. They even sent us home with some extra treats from the chef. I would recommend Spruce to anyone and I am sure to return.

COVID safe outdoor dining. We had the fxed price menu and caviar. Wines were their upscale red and white. Service could definitely be improved for a michelin starred restaurant. Attention to detail not as much as I am used to at other michelin starred restaurants. Their fixed price menu was reasonable but not out of this world. I had the extra 15 USD foie gras. It was nice, but the pain d'epices makes it almost too rich, would have liked perhaps 2 or 3 choices with it ( brioche, canape , etx ) All in all good choice, reasonable price to value

Dinner was incredible! Highly recommend listening to what your waiter recommends. Staff was super friendly and made our birthday celebration very special.

Great evening! First course was outstanding and entree was great. Service was perfect and everyone was friendly yet very professional. Highly recommend it! It is the best of fine dining in time of Covid!

Our reservation was early in the evening. When we checked in with the hostess, there were plenty of seating available. She tried to seat us at the worst possible table with no heaters and also at the entrance of the restaurant where there was a lot of foot traffic. We asked to be seated elsewhere and were accommodated. The bread service was the best part of the meal. The first course was excellent and flavorful. The main course was an obscene amount of food that was not properly plated. The taste was excellent but was out of sync with fine dining. Service was below average and as 20% gratuity is already added, there was no incentive to be attentive I guess. The dessert was plated very nicely, the taste was ok. All in all a subpar experience for a Michelin star fine dining restaurant. The outdoor seating area was nice except for a few bad tables that they should consider eliminating. I would have paid a higher amount if the presentation and service would have been better. There was no optional wine pairing nor did our waiter offer any suggestions for choosing the wine. I would have expected a better enthusiasm during the pandemic to attract customers to the restaurant.

Food and drinks were great. Very extensive wine list with seasonal cocktails. The menu is brief, with mainly light options which made it great for a business lunch. The staff was very accommodating. Will be returning.

Spruce is doing a lovely job despite the challenges. The lunch menu has something for everyone. It was a birthday lunch and there was a card signed by the staff as well as a delicious red velvet cake with a candle and happy birthday written in chocolate for dessert. Service was attentive.

We celebrated a birthday lunch for 3. We had a perfect table outside. Our waiter No E was exceptional as always. He coddled us and made excellent recommendations through our 4 course meal... all of which he split for us.
The Billecart Brut Rose, housemade tagliatelle in a beurre blanc sauce with shaved truffles, the crisp chicken salad in a champagne vinaigrette with pistachios and marinated apples, sous vide salmon with lentils and baby apples and squash, and the beignets plus birthday cake was divine!!
All the cares of the world were forgotten for a few hours of bliss!

Love this place, even in the street, and with reduced staff (yes, it's noticeable, but first world problems right now, so ok).

We had a wonderful time at Spruce. This was a special occasion for us to dine here given its price, but the food was amazing. Definitely an experience I would recommend to everyone to try at least once in their life.

Our food was definitely michelin star worthy. And we splurged on the great caviar course. Excellent service; our waiter was fantastic. And great price for the quality of the food. We will be going again.

Spruce is one of our absolute favorite restaurants in San Francisco. The food is always excellent, the wine list is extensive and the service is superb. Monday night was no exception. The restaurant had clearly made an effort to ensure its indoor dining room was compliant with social distancing practices, yet had done so in a manner that preserved its elegance & warmth. The prix fixe menu had plenty of choices for a variety of palates - I had the duck and my guest had the chicken, both of which were terrific. They are currently offering their wines at a discount, and we had some delicious Bordeaux for a terrific price! All in all, a flawless experience.

Spruce made our anniversary especially memorable. Highly recommend

Amazing! The outdoor space has been converted into a cozy, lite elegant area completely inline with your expectation of Spruce.

The host, waiter and wait staff were all amazing! The food...as always...impeccably delicious.

50th Birthday

I thought an 8 pm reservation outside would be freezing, but the heaters and the windscreens were great - I never put on my coat and didn't need the blankets. The food was great, and how nice that we were able to bring a special bottle of wine (with corkage of course) to celebrate a birthday.

Spruce in a normal world is excellent and definitely a 5 star experience. Right now however, it’s a little different. Their pre fixe menu is good but doesn’t deliver the same experience Spruce normally delivers.

Probably my favorite dining experience in SF...and I’m a picky foodie. Outstanding in every way, without fuss or pretension. One of a kind.

Spruce just doesn't miss. Their take on outdoor dining is as good as the indoor. Comfortably warm enough, and the food as wonderful as it ever has been. go!
