Server was short with us and did not explain the brunch menu. We were seated near the "cafe" door and there was an uncomfortable draft that prompted me to wear my jacket the entire time.
I had the most amazing experience. I’ve dined at Spruce several times now but this time was by far my favorite. I had the burger which was absolute perfection and our server Rueben was truly amazing. He was thoughtful, attentive, and genuine; and definitely enhanced our overall dining experience aka my birthday! Thanks again for everything, Spruce! We will be back!
We dine out very often in SF and this was truly an exceptional dining experience. The food was delicious and presentation very impressive. The service was extremely professional and outstanding.
Very stuffy. This is where old people eat. The food was objectively good, but nothing very imaginative nor special.
Spruce is our go to restaurant for a meal we can count on and relax at. Everyone is so attentive and kind there, but the food is always delicious. We had muscles, and the hamburger.
The waitstaff at Spruce was excellent!
There was a card at our table when we arrived wishing us a Happy Anniversary. 💕
What a wonderful restaurant for a special occasion!
Great service, excellent food. Will be back soon
The food was only mediocre, nothing special for the price. I used to love this place, but something has changed.
Great ambience, food, and great company with my lovely wife.
Lovely food excellent service.
Fantastic, innovative food with outstanding service standards makes this a memorable restaurant for any special occasion or simply lunch with friends in an intimate setting. Well done!
Just wonderful. The staff was very attentive and the food was great.
Great lunch. Would go back.
Great place with excellent service! The food and drinks were exceptional. I love the ambiance and modern design of the restaurant as well.
Spruce is a very consistent experience. Always enjoy having a meal at Spruce for whatever the occasion may be. Saturday night did not disappoint. The almond-crusted Turbot special was just that special. Love having such excellent food as part of the choices within SF.

Everything perfect from beginning to end
Another fabulous evening at Spruce. It’s our “go to” place to celebrate special occasions!
The food is very good and the overall experience was a positive one, but the prices are beyond expensive. I mean $68.00 for a venison entree. Come on. This is highway robbery.
We were fortunate enough to have the pleasure of having Hubert as our waiter. He was very professional, kind and courteous! We felt well taken care of and he even escorted my 93 year old mother in law out to the street. She was delighted and felt so special! Our food was delicious as it always is when we dine at Spruce!
Had a great dining experience. Came to celebrate my birthday. They treated us like family.

Server excellent , perfect amount of attention, professional but personable, and knew the menu in detail
Food was divine!!
Spruce was recommended by a friend who knows we enjoy great food and ambiance. We were visiting and had one night to go out to dinner. It did not disappoint. The food was delicious, and the service impeccable. The ambiance was very nice as well. We will be back.
We visited during SF Restaurant week and it was more of an average dining experience. I had the burger which was cooked to a perfect medium well but was lacking taste. My companions had the duck sugo. It was tasty but servings were on the small side. I’ll be returning next time but will likely try some of the other dishes.
So gracious moving us to a warmer table ‼️💝
Food and service is great. Waitstaff schtick is a bit old, but otherwise really great.
Server had an attitude. Everything else great.
Service was good. Food average. Overpriced
Great bartender. Best risotto ever.
Spruce has a Michelin star for a reason. It is a dining experience, not just a great meal. The service is extraordinary and the staff attends to every detail. It is expensive, but a real treat for a special occasion.
The food is great in this lovely space ! But so crowded Snd loud in the evening
It was fine, just not the special experience we were hoping for.
Ordering the few scraps of Truffles on our pasta was a bit of a disappointment...and pricey.
Excellent formal dining place with impeccable service.
Wonderful food for Restaurant Week. Outstanding, fun service with a laugh, not just a smile. Booked a replay for the next week.
I enjoyed the food but I felt that the pricing was out of line with the amounts and type of food provided.
If your desire is to truly have a special evening Spruce is the place to go. Pricey but well worth the splurge. The food is excellent, wonderful presentation and the service impeccable.
We chose this restaurant for our first night in SF mainly for its location near our hotel, in the Pacific Heights area, and also because of the great reviews. We were not disappointed. Having enjoyed a light meal at an earlier cooking class, we were happy to have later reservations. When we arrived on foot, the valet attendant greeted us warmly and opened the door. The place was full! We arrived about 15 minutes prior to our reservation so we waited a bit. The bar was packed so we waited near the hostess stand. We were led to a lovely table just outside the front door in a small, toasty, fireplace-lit room! There was even a personalized birthday card waiting for me! With only four tables, it’s a charming and intimate room but for the table of five women loudly celebrating a birthday. Our server, Chase was THE BEST! Without us saying anything, he apologized for the noise, noting we had requested a quiet table in our reservation. He told us they were getting dessert menus but he could move us if we wanted. We declined and the loud ones soon departed.
The food is beyond delicious! My husband chose the duck breast and said it was just as good as one he had in France, which is his measuring stick for duck! I had the special John Dory and it was so moist and flavorful! Both were presented in such unique styles! Mine had a layer of scalloped potatoes that appeared to look like scales. Toasted just right, this layer provided a shield to keep the fish perfectly moist. A choice of breads, tasty amuse bouche, an amazing taste of the Sunchoke bisque made us regret not ordering a larger bowl for dinner, too! We ended with decadent beignets and a surprise slice of birthday confetti cake rounded out a perfect evening. We also appreciated the very extensive wine list and the way the sommelier brought our wines by the glass in the bottles and allowed us to taste a sip before pouring.
In a city with so many great restaurants, this will forever be one of our favorites.
This is the second time I've been back to Spruce in 6 months. Both times the service was awful. There is such a huge time delay getting food. We sat there for ever waiting. Reservation was at 5:30 and didn't leave until almost 9. And waiting for the wait staff to bring the valet the ticket took a lifetime as well. Exact same experience in 6 months. Not going back.
Everything with this restaurant was exceptional. Service was great, menu was varied with several different options and the wine list was vast. I will definitely return when I am visiting the city.
So great! Love the burger, cocktails and truffles!
