Spring Natural Kitchen - UWS
In that great American tradition we take favorites from cuisines from around the world and make them our own. All our preparations are bound by one unyielding philosophy - to serve healthy, carefully sourced and delicious food.
Reminiscent of our food, Spring Natural's space brings together the familiar and the time-honored with a fresh, new, modern sense.
Always ate at the one downtown and was excited to see one open on the UWS. Food is excellent. Service is great!
The food is fresh, healthy and delicious and there's something on the menu for everyone at SNK. I especially loved my quinoa/avocado/beet/squash/chickpea salad which was big enough for 4 people to share as an appetizer and the homemade sangria. From burgers to Mediterranean dips to organic salmon, our large party loved their dishes and all head great things to say!
Disappointed with the gluten free bread. I heard the new chef doesn’t know how to make it. Too bad.
So disappointed by the experience. We came because of their original rating of 4.2/5 which is absolutely unrealistic and makes the whole rating system absolutely unreliable.
We booked via opentable and when we arrived on time, the table was not ready and they did not care about the reservation. They had to set the table and we litterally waited for an hour to get 4 servings out of 7 and then an additional 15 min for 3 more and my 6yo son was the last one to be served a kid menu burger!!!! Appauling. There was obvioulsy a lack of people in the kitchen and one guy from the kitchen came to help serve!!! The manager was doing absolutely nothing to help and seemed to not know what to do. The food was average. At the end, we asked for the drinks to be offered and we ended up with a very poor 10% discount and the manager did not even come to apologize! An extremely poor overall experience and a huge waste of time and money.
We enjoyed our lunch very much. The service was friendly and attentive.
We will not return to this restaurant. The service was nearly nonexistent- the waiter seemed to be bothered by the fact that we were there. The food came out lukewarm or cold. The dishes had very little flavor. We would have said something (and even sent some of the food back) but we could not flag down our waiter, and there seemed to be no manager on staff. This place was recommended as a top place for brunch on the upper west side. If this is the best the UWS has to offer for brunch, my recommendation is to go to a different neighborhood.
The food was mostly good, the drinks were very small for the price and value with the exception of the cappuccino that comes in a bowl. The service was the worst part. Our server, Angel, had an attitude every time he came to our table, which was few and far between. When a bread server brought bread they brought three slices... extremely odd number considering there was 5 of us... at least bring one piece per person. We had to call the server back over to ask them to bring more bread and again they brought another 3 slices. So odd. Angel never asked us if we wanted another round of drinks and every time someone came by to refill water they would refill a glass or two but not others that were low. Then we waited forever for our bill and had to eventually ask another server for it and when I handed our server the bill with the forms of payment I also had a $20 bill and asked for change for it for the tip and he disappeared for 15 mins then passed by our table three times without coming back with my change, our credit cards, or even looking at us. And the restaurant by this point was almost empty. I finally had to ask for my change and he reluctantly walked away again and took another 4 mins to come back with it. Seemed like he honestly didn’t want to be there which is a shame because based on the food we would go back but moreso based on the service we never will. Very disappointed.
Usually I'm a huge fan of Spring Kitchen.
And I understand that Sunday brunch is very busy, but we sat waiting for our food for 35 minutes. When it came, it was barely warm. Very hard to get any server's attention, and way too loud.
Loud, terrible service, so-so food. This place has really declined.
service was pretty terrible. The hostess was rude to us when we arrived because our complete party had not arrived. We had two kids with us who needed to order and there was plenty of room , our table was even ready. We got no attention until our whole party arrived 15 minutes later. Then the service was very slow and tip was included because we had a larger party. Disappointing to say the least - we won't be back.
Great brunch foods and plenty of options. Service was slow and inattentive.
Very pleasant restaurant, attractive, welcoming, and simple. Food nourishing, healthful, and there are small and larger plates to satisfy many kinds of diets. Many wholesome farm and locally produced foods are available, with fine ingredients. Our server was a delightful young woman. My two visiting friends from Ohio enjoyed our lunch as much as I did.
Me u was varied, food was tasty and interesting. Didn’t love the chickpea fries. Loys if healthy options. good portion sizes . Pretty restaurant
Staff was great accommodating 10 of us. it was crowded and noisy, but that was to be expected. Bottomless mimosas and banana pancakes were awesome. Everyone else enjoyed their meals as well.
A nice Sunday brunch with friends; delicious food and nice enough atmosphere but service was a bit slow and it was LOUD. We were there 11:30-12:45 and it seemed to empty out and quiet down a bit but by then we were leaving.
We sat next to a family with 3 young children that were totally out of control and unruly. One was yelling and screaming at the top of his lungs, several temper tantrums, lying on the floor...it was completely off-putting, yet no one asked them to leave. My wife’s food as OK, mine was bland bordering on tasteless. I have a wicked sweet tooth and have never had a bad dessert, except here. We will not be returning!
Delicious and fresh ingredients and very nice ambiance. Wonderful overall.
Love the food. Hate the loud noise and lack of ANY kind of fabric, carpet, acoustic tiles, etc. to absorb sounds.
Great food, but service had us feeling rushed. Drinks didn't come until the entrees arrived.
Good for brunch when you can eat outside. It’s very noisy and they seemed overwhelmed on a Saturday night.
Clean and roomy restaurant on near Central Park. Great service, delicious food and desert, decent wine selections, reasonable price. The fish plates are the best! Way exceeded my expectations.
Great brunch experience, variety of options for vegans and meat eaters alive. Food tasted fresh, drinks were great. Staff were friendly and accommodating, would recommend to anyone seeking a quality brunch
Great place with broad offerings that fit range of tastes and needs, and satisfying yet healthful dishes. Wait staff was attentive and provide guidance where needed.
Awesomely delicious (and huge) breakfast burrito and I stole bites of my friend's chocolate buckwheat pancakes that were heavy but divine. It was tough to choose what to order so I'll need to head back to try more. Sweet staff who were good about checking in but not overeager. We arrived right at 10:30am on a Sunday which gave us a nice head start on the crowds - noise level certain was higher by the time we left. Tables are tight like many NY brunch establishments but wasn't a bother to us.
Overall - I love this restaurant. I've been many times and the food is always great. However, it was a bit disappointing for my birthday dinner. The service was incredibly slow. We had to ask for menus after we were seated. We complained to the management about the wait time and she was very friendly but didn't do anything about it. My mother was handed a plate that was very hot without being told that it was hot. After all of this, they charged us a cutting fee for the cake we brought. That should have been waived after the rest of the experience.
I went with a mixed group some were vegans others had limited diets and others wanted buyers. Luckily Spring has something for everyone. However the food wasn't worth mentioning, other than the starry had way too much salt, the chicken that was included on the salad had absolutely no flavor and the pasta sauce was watery. I like this restaurant ad have had some nice meals , so was very disappointed this time.
I've been going to Spring since a long time. I ordered the chickpea fries for 12USD and was very surprised they had 3 (!!) fries. Totally non sense. The most expensive fries in NYC? sorry but that's not ok at all!
The food was outstanding but, and maybe because it was President's Day, the place was much to noisy.
I had the Mediterranean Winter Salad, and it was excellent.
I had a bad Valentines day dinner at this place! We weren’t greeted or acknowledged for a good 15 minutes. I ordered a wild stripped bass and it was serve undercooked!!! I had a bite and it was cold, raw inside and very fishy! Told the manager and they took it back . 15 mins later and it’s still taste very fishy!!!! Turned out it was not even a wild stripped bass!!!!!! The manager did take the fish off the check. It was a very disappointing experience to say the least.
The service seemed a little disjointed and inexperienced
Our server at Spring Natural Kitchen messed up our order and brought non-vegan items to a vegan table.
With menu items like burritos, it can be really tricky to tell the difference without first taking a bite. We ended up learning pretty quickly that a burrito we received was not vegan - when we flagged this with our waiter, he blamed us for the mistake, insisted we ordered incorrectly, and didn't want to replace the item. He actually intentionally left the non-vegan plate on the table so he could go back to the kitchen, place an ad-hoc order for a vegan burrito, and swap the items so he wouldn't get in trouble for this mistake.
*He admitted that this happens all the time to him.*
As someone who cares a lot about dietary restrictions, this was very troubling to me. If this was an allergen, our waiter's behavior could have been even more problematic.
The food at Spring Natural Kitchen is always good. With vegan and non-vegetarian options, there is something for everyone. The service at lunch was not very attentive. From the moment I walked in the door, I had to wait while the person talked to everyone but me and then had to tap them on the shoulder to get them to notice me and be seated. The wait staff was friendly but also needed to be flagged down to order, get more coffee etc. Other times, the service has been better. Hopefully, this was just a fluke.
My friend ordered a bowl of soup and I ordered a salad. The server brought my friend’s soup immediately and after 20 minutes I still had not been served my salad. I had to ask several times what happened to my order and by the time my salad came my friend was almost finished with her soup. We essentially watched each other eat! The staff were all very nice but completely inadequate and the place was nearly empty so there was really no excuse for such awful service. They did comp us a dessert and a coffee but it did not make up for the fact that the overall dining experience was stressful.
ate there in january on a sunday morning. the menu looked fantastic but i was very disappointed in the execution of my salad (which was my 3rd choice because they had run out of choices 1 and 2, surprisingly on a sunday when they know to anticipate a sizable brunch crowd and should order accordingly). service friendly but very very spotty and erratic. would not rush back.
Some noisy kids, obviously not the fault of the restaurant, but the tables are very close together, so it’s difficult if you get caught next to you me. Service was pleasant and attentive despite the close quarters. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Biggest annoyance besides the noisy child next to us was the refusal to seat me because my companion wasn’t there yet, despite having a reservation. This is a policy guaranteed to annoy customers. What is the point of reserving if you can’t be seated when you arrive?
We have eaten here many times. Food is on the healthy side, but there is something on the menu for everyone; from hamburgers to fish to pasta and dinner salads. Meat is hormone free. The restaurant is fairly large and simply decorated, but pleasant looking. Restaurant is usually very busy, so reservations are suggested.
Spring is my go to favorite place on the upper west especially now that I am on a gluten and dairy free diet. They stall knowledgeable and cognizant of the diet and go out of their way to make sure I don’t violate it. And the food is fantastic!
We were 3 different menu options: vegan, gluten-free and carnivore. There were good choices for each.
The G-F carrot cake was shared by all, and highly rated!
Decent choice for mixing vegetarian and meat eaters in one place.
