Spring Mill Cafe Ratings and Reviews
We have been to the Spring Mill Cafe before and always enjoyed our meal. We had excellent service and very tasty food. We very much enjoy that the cafe is BYO so we can bring our own wine to go with dinner. I thought that the rabbit was especially delicious. Only one caution, don't let them seat you upstairs in the farmhouse building. That room is seriously lacking in ambiance. When the crowd started dissipating downstairs, they gave us a table there and free desserts.
What's old is new again at Spring Mill Cafe! My crab & asparagus salad was a beautiful & delicious winter metaphor....fresh green logs on a plate of snow :) My wife had the Moroccan shrimp appetizer, which is done with sweet potatoes, cumin & toasted almonds and is absolutely fantastic! Our main courses were both wonderful & clever twists on old staples. Although not vegetarian, we love rich and flavorful vegetarian dishes. For my wife, the mushroom bourguignon was irresistible. I had the rabbit, done this year (for the first time in my memory) with a prune tapenade plus mushrooms & potatoes in a red wine sauce. With a little ice cream for dessert, we left in our usual post-Spring Mill state of bliss. Although full to the gills, everything just happens as it should thanks to an owner and staff who simply get everything right!
My husband and I celebrated our tenth anniversary at Spring Mill Cafe. We live in Conshy but had never been there! Parking isn’t the best but once you’re inside it’s like you’ve been transported to a farmhouse in the French countryside. It’s small but cozy, not cramped. And quiet! The food was excellent - filet done perfectly and swordfish that melts in your mouth. Our meal was spaced out over a couple of hours, which is the pace I prefer for a night out and a good meal; it’s so much better than the typical rushed atmosphere in most places. I will definitely be returning!!
Client lunch. To start: Chicken liver pate & cheese plate (3 cheeses) with almonds, honey, & quince paste, both of which were excellent. Mains: Mushroom Bourguignon and a Moroccan shrimp salad, both superb. Service was friendly, knowledgeable & attentive without being obtrusive. Excellent value.
Always enjoy this French restaurant. In a rural setting that makes you feel like you could be in the French countryside. The food is very good. My favorite is the lamb chops and the pate. It is BYO, which reduces the cost somewhat, though it is moderate in price.
We loved the environment, the friendliness of the staff and the warmth of the restaurant. We were a bit disappointed in the NYE food. The cheese plate and dessert were highlights and fabulous. The lobster bisque was delicious but no lobster. The room temperature duck should have been warm. It felt like wedding style service where it was pre-prepped. The swordfish said saffron and capers on the menu, but was served with a dill butter instead. Additionally, we had to pour our own wine every time with included 20% gratuity. Overall, the $90 prix fixe was way too high of a price for what was delivered.
This was my 4th visit to Spring Mill Cafe and it continues to impress. My GF and I asked my brother and sister-in-law to join us for a pre-holiday get together. It was their first time there. We all enjoyed our appetizers, entrees and desserts. All were very tasty, complex and appropriate in size. Combined with the warm ambiance and friendly service, this was a wonderful evening out with family. Thank for Spring Mill Cafe!
Most delicious meals in Conshohocken hands-down. I've come for brunch once and for dinner twice. The service is outstanding, we love the people at Spring Mill Café. (I'll bring a sweater next time because it's always a little chilly for me, but I don't mind because everything else is perfect!) Thank you!
To thank my mom for a year of watching our baby we took her to our favorite BYOB. The service outshined the food. The café was very busy and we were taken care of from the beginning. To start we shared the trout salad and soup. For entrees two of us had the pork chop, which was said to be the best they've ever had. I had the scallop entrée and was completely satisfied. Dessert was a shining course, the crème brulee and daffodil cake were a delight. We'll be back soon!
Always a cozy romantic french setting with good service and very good food. It is a byob so you can bring along a nice bottle of wine and they will open and chill it. Great desserts especially their Daisy Cake....absolutely delicious. Ive been going to this restaurant for 20 years and I am always pleased. Great ambiance.
My lunch companion and I both ordered something with ham (an omlet, and a grilled ham and cheese sandwich). In both cases we ended up not eating the ham (in the case of the omelet) or having to cut off the heavy skin (rind) of the ham. The last time this happened to me at the Spring Mill Cafe, I was disappointed, but thought it was just an error by a novice in the kitchen who was too lazy to take the time to prepare the ham for eating. Now I am wondering if the chef simply doesn't understand that no one wants to eat that part of a ham. I would certainly never serve it that way to myself or to guests at home. Would he/she? Does he/she ever eat the dishes served? Little ham cubes in which 1/4 is rind are certainly not appealing in an omelet, or in anything else.
I checked "yes" to the "would recommend this cafe to a friend?" question above, but if I come back and have the same experiences, I would not. Sorry.
Otherwise, we liked everything about our lunch.
We enjoyed our meals. I had the Sweet Potato Carrot Soup and Scallops with Risotto. The others had Pepper Crusted Pork Chop which they raved about. Two in our party had the Grilled Octopus Salad which they loved. My only issue was that I was charged $15 for two bottles of Sparkling water. Far too much IMO
Spring Mill Cafe is always excellent. The restaurant is quaint, intimate, cozy. The wait staff is attentive, friendly, but not pushy. We started with the artichoke salad and the escargot, both very tasty. My wife had the lapin, she loves that dish, very tasty and rich. I had the Pork chop. Although the pork chop was the star of the plate, tender, tasty, nice size, the roasted root vegetables were excellent. For desert we had the flour-less cardamom almond cake and peppermint ice cream ,so very flavorful, delicious. Great evening.
