We live in the neighborhood and have visited the Spring Mill Café periodically over the years. We hadn't been in a while, though, and throughout the meal wondered why. Service was attentive without hovering; the vegetarian mushroom bourguignon was thick and tasty, the rabbit with mustard sauce was a little difficult to work through with the bones, but was delicious, and we shared a very light lemon-flavored slice of cake for dessert. Oh, and the wine we brought was really spectacular. All in all a very enjoyable evening.
The meal was excellent from appetizers to dessert. Nathan, our waiter, was friendly, informative and very helpful with our food choices. It's also very nice that it is a BYOB.
It was a pleasure to dine here. Our meals were prepared beautifully. The duck I had was cooked to perfection, as well as my husbands filet. We are excited to come back for a brunch with friends!
Overly intrusive waiter, upsale of menu items, underdressed salads and the rabbit main course lacked flavor and seemed as though it had been cooked previously and reheated. The gluten free rolls were burned and hard. At the additional cost of 2.00 each we expected better.
Salmon was old on the eggs Benedict. You couldn’t change anything on the menu so that was annoying and the food was honestly not tasty. Service was alright/ a bit rude. Won’t be going there again for Brunch.
This was our first visit for dinner. We were seated in the main restaurant, which is in an old house and while cozy, did not provide privacy or solitude. The menu is not extensive, but the food is delicious. Our server was wonderful. As the restaurant filled, it was extremely loud. Come here for the food and the top-notch service, not the atmosphere. We previously visited for brunch and were seated in the adjacent converted barn, which was much more tranquil. That would be my preference in the future, but I believe only accommodates larger parties. All in all, this is an off-the-beaten-path find. We will return.
What a wonderful surprise - had not been here for years and it was outstanding. Took an elderly friend here for her birthday. Our food was absolutely delicious, the atmosphere is very charming and the staff could not have been more pleasant and helpful. We will definitely be going back - a real gem
Attentive service and everything delicious.
AIM Academy has used the Spring Mill Cafe for many occasions and has been very pleased with the food, ambiance and service. We have recommended this restaurant to many of our constituents.
One of our favorite restaurants. County French. It isn’t inexpensive, but very high quality and is a great place to impress or a place to celebrate.
Tonight it was all specials. We split a pâté plate, after which we each had the special salad: crab and lobster with a spicy aioli that delighted both of us. I had the special fish, which was simply prepared and served over a wonderful pea risotto, and my wife had the mushroom bourguignon, a hearty stew as complete and filling as it would have been with beef. To finish, we split the special cake, which was a light and flourless treat that came with blueberries and vanilla ice cream. It may be Passover, but that's no reason not to eat well!
Fabulous Easter brunch. Delicious food, top-knotch service, warm ambiance. BYOB a plus. Will definitely visit for dinner.
We went to the Spring Mill Café for Easter brunch and were not disappointed. Lamb was excellent as was the lobster salad appetizer. One dinner companion loved the carrot cake as the spices were more prevalent than the usual sweetness that one finds with carrot cake. Overall a great experience. We plan to come back on a non-holiday to sample the rest of the fare.
As usual, we enjoyed a great meal in a lovely setting with attentive service.
Will keep coming back!
I had made arrangements for my spouses birthday and ordered a daffodil cake with a candle. The host when I called too my partners name and said they would handle.
The restaurant made no acknowledgement of the birthday - and didn't bring the cake. I could have said something at the time to the server but as we were with friends it was more embarrassing to me to do that and so I ignored it and we just ordered dessert. It was disappointing given that I had made the arrangements in advance.
great food and service
This is a “gem” of a restaurant if you’re in love with French cuisine and have been missing the likes of Le Ben fin ( without the cost) or remember Deaux Chimenees”? The staff is superior, knowledgeable, helpful and warm and friendly. A really fine dining experience with all that that offers! I suppose that’s how you survive and prosper in a very competitive industry for 40 years...... excel at all you do. We will be back soon!
This spot was recommended by a client of mine. It met my expectations and more. Ambiance, food and service were spot on. I cannot wait to return
We really enjoyed the delicious food, attentive staff, and ambiance. We also appreciated the ability to bring our own wine. Prices are a bit high.
Completely authentic country French bistro that I have frequented for thirty years. The escargot (very fresh) and homemade brioche are fantastic. Anything baked here is like something right out of a Paris bakery. The pates are all made in-house. We ordered the Pate Tasting as an appetizer and were very pleased. I enjoyed the braised rabbit for lunch and it was delicious. Rabbit takes a special touch to prepare and Spring Mill does it very well. My dining partner had the Steak Frites. Again, a very authentic dish. Few places serve the cut of meat as one would find in France. Salads are delicious and not overwhelming in size. Dessert? Oh, yes. Chocolate Mousse and Daffodil cake with a cup of cafe au lait or cappucino. While this was not today's trip for us, Sunday Brunch is divine and inventive.
Best food, my favorite place in the world! Can’t say it enough!
I brought my bridesmaids here to meet for the first time. The atmosphere was lovely. The service was wonderful and the food was delicious. This gem comes highly recommended.
Such a great experience at Spring Mill Cafe! Hearty French country which is perfect for cold winter nights. But I've also been in the spring and their menu is perfectly tailored to the season. Highlights for me this visit were the cheese plate and the daffodil cake -- and the cappuccino was perfect as well. It was a catch-up of six friends and we had a wonderful experience.
Excellent country French food made with locally sourced food. Very fresh and VERY tasty!!
A friend and I had a wonderful dining experience; great service and good and wonderful opportunity for quiet conversation
The restaurant used to be a general store and has many of the original features. The farm to table food was excellent! The service was terrific! We were able to sit outside in February, what a nice surprise. I took my mother for lunch for her birthday. I will definitely be back!
My husband and I couldn’t get out on Valentine’s Day, so we decided to go the following day. I read the reviews about Spring Mill and decided this would be the perfect spot for a Valentine’s Day dinner. The restaurant is quaint, cute and I love the rustic feel. The food was good, but what outshined the food was the service. Our server was FANTASTIC! He was attentive, knowledgeable and just a nice guy. He encouraged my husband and I to try escargot, which I can definitely say I would never order for myself, but they were quite tasty, so glad he did that. Sadly, I forgot his name, but everyone at the restaurant was great.
P.S. The complimentary glass of wine was nice.
Food was superb and the service was excellent. Great atmosphere
Went for Valentine's day. They were very friendly and the food was very fancy. We did ask for special requests as my wife is pregnant and they catered very well by cooking various meats fully through. Would go again.
My wife and I lunched here for Valentine's Day and hadn't been here for over 20 years but had good memories of it which this experience did nothing to alter. Ambiance is rustic, subdued, quiet; food , delicious/rich; service, attentive but not intrusive.
A real gem! Food is wonderful and the setting cant be beat! French Country romance
Dinner with adult kids
While Spring Mill Cafe was good, it wasn't outstanding. We had the Octopus appetizer which wasn't great. My Scallops special was somewhat bland, as was my wife's Striped Bass. We're big fans of French Country food, but didn't really find it here at Spring Mill.
Service and ambience were excellent. We liked the cozy feel, the decorations, and the overall ambience.
overall review: good, not great.
Very good place for a quiet date night, food was delicious, and great service, would definitely go back
Spring Mill Cafe is legitimately our favorite restaurant. All of the waiters that we've met are so kind and knowledgeable about gluten-free options. My wife has coeliac and we always feel comfortable and understood.
The location is very quaint. Its inside an old house. Parking can be difficult. The inside was cute and enjoyable. The service wasn't horrible however they forgot my soup... I wasn't charged for it though. But no one said anything or apologized for forgetting it. The bread basket was delicious as was the cheese plate. Eggs Benedict was typical eggs Benedict. The restaurant seemed to get busy and the servers seemed frazzled. I would go back and try again though, def worth trying
First time at the Spring Mill Café! We loved it! I went with my brother and his wife and two close friends. Are meals were GREAT! I am gluten free and I had no trouble eating at this place.
We will be back for Sure!!
Wonderful preparation and nice presentation as always. This is convenient and quiet place for a business lunch.
We had a lovely corner table in the farmhouse to celebrate our 45th anniversary with our daughters. Service was attentive, but not suffocating- which I really appreciate. We each had a different appetizer and entree. Cheese plate was nice. My daughter enjoyed the pate. Best entree was the rabbit. My filet was a good piece of meat, perfectly cooked. However, the red wine bordelaise was watery and tasteless. Swordfish tasted old and over cooked. Duck cassoulet was just OK. Desserts ordered were the daffodil cake and creme brûlée. Both were disappointing. We had a great evening and loved the atmosphere, but the food was not what I expected.
