We had the most wonderful experience at Spring Mill Cafe last night. We sat inside because we wanted to get the full ambiance and it was worth it! Nathan was a knowledgeable, efficient and friendly waiter. The building does not lack in character and the food is simply Devine. It is small and quaint inside exactly what we were looking for, a great neighborhood spot! If we are ever in the area again we would definitely go!
Food was excellent. Well done filet and the escargot was fantastic. Well worth the price
My wife and I love this place . Great farmhouse atmosphere and our go-to restaurant for special occasions. The pate sampler is amazing love the cassoulet in the winter menu.
Best brunch!! Highly recommend
A great spot. Only complaint was the front door was open and it was 50 degrees outside. They did close it upon request but it was uncomfortably cold until then.
My favorite place to eat. The food is outstanding. They never disappoint.
Another delicious meal at Spring Mill. Loved the pate and the quail, the salmon
was exceptional, and the Daffodil Cake was out of this world!
The atmosphere is always very special and relaxing. Great service.
Food was fabulous, as always. Servers were attentive and maintained appropriate safety measures. It was a lovely evening to eat outdoors, although the traffic noise is annoying (nothing the restaurant can do about that), and the chairs are not very comfortable.
Great value for money! We think it's one of the best restaurants in the Philadelphia area
I just love this place. We have been there on a special occasion as well and always impressed!
When we arrived, they sat us at a very awkward table so we asked to move to a corner table which people had just that minute left. The waitress told us 'no, we have a very strict table rotation'. The table we wanted was empty until right before we left. Not sure what this 'strict rotation' was or why she was rude about it. In spite of the good food, it made the whole experience not so good.
We enjoyed a lovely outdoor dinner with very good food. Our waiter was helpful and attentive. The lamb was especially good but it it need a send back as it came out way less cooked than was ordered. The fish special was halibut and the preparation was delicious. Dessert was lucious as was the coffee to go with.
Unique menu - not very long but something in every category. Each item carefully thought out and executed. Dishes are well described and different from what you would find elsewhere. Overall - a pleasure. Not noisy, some space outside, some space inside. Don't forget to bring your own excellent wine. The food is worth pairing with good wine!
There's little in life more pleasing than a fine meal with good friends in a wonderful place. Once again, we pulled off a hat trick at Spring Mill Cafe. Staff, service, setting and food are all stellar (and have been for 40+ years). Two of us started with the daily special salad, which centered on absolutely delicious heirloom tomatoes. Escargot and a beet salad lifted our spouses off the starting block. Then everyone but me had the fish special, which was a big, beautiful tilefish filet. I had the pork chop, which was served this time with a light, delicate, delicious Vietnamese flan. And for the first time in a long while, each in our party had a SMC classic dessert - sorbet, daffodil cake, and Montmorency. It was a relaxed, wonderful experience (which is why we keep going back).
We had the best early springtime dinner out on the patio last night. So much so that the entire time I though it must be a Saturday night. Very disappointed to wake up today and realize it was only Thursday. Anyway, food was outstanding, the gazpacho was perfect for a night like last night, escargot always hits the spot. Our friends are vegetarians and they had the soy chicken à la moutarde and raved about. The salmon and filet were perfection. Thank you for a wonderful night!
The prix fixe brunch is excellent. Great omelets, excellent pastry and just present enough service. Very nice experience.
Everything was outstanding & made for a lovely Sunday brunch. Our party of four enjoyed both special and menu items, all incredibly delicious. Our server was also a pro at opening a very finicky bottle of BYOB which was greatly appreciated!
Our overall experience was outstanding, from the food to our server, Christine. She was attentive, friendly and energetic. We can't wait to go back again.
Appetizers were out of this world amazing. Mains were good but not as amazing as the appetizers. Lovely and very friendly service.
Spring Mill Cafe remains a favorite; good ambiance and simple but excellent menu. Service is always friendly and professional. The recent Saturday evening we were there it was crowded with a wedding party adding to the activity. My guess is that the kitchen was strained and as s result Our entrees were slow to arrive and two of them were overcooked. Otherwise all was as usual at Spring Mill; a wonderful restaurant that deserves its excellent reputation.
Other than our lovely waitress, I wasn't too keen on my experience at Spring Mill Cafe. We got a table on the porch, which faces a very busy road where loud and fast cars and motorcycles zoom by, sometimes loudly. I'm not sure if this was because of covid, but there were no linens at all on the table (even the napkins were paper) and the tables were closer together than I, personally, prefer. We got a cheeseplate, which was good, but the portions were the tiniest I've ever seen on a cheeseplate (especially for the price). The manager was curt, bordering on rude, with me and with other customers (he did not want to make any accommodations for seating or heat lamp placement), which didn't help the ambiance any. I went to Spring Mill Cafe comfortable with the cost, but I have to say that for the money, it was a true disappointment. The food was good, not great (with the exception of the rabbit, which was NOT good: beige, bland, and soupy). The ambiance was limited. I'm glad I went; now I know I don't want to go back.
Have been going going to Spring Mill Cafe for many years. Love the atmosphere, food , and Ezra and his excellent staff.
Always a great meal, and one of the best outdoor dining setups in the area.
This was our second visit, the first for dinner. The choices on the menu did not disappoint, and the food was wonderful. Definitely worth the drive to find this Cafe! Will visit again and again when we visit Philly!
Lovely dinner in a French country setting. BYO is a big plus. Service was warm and friendly and our meal was terrific.
Sunday brunch: Terrible service! Waited 1/2 hour to even get wait staff attention. Soup took another 1/2 hour, entree same. Skipped dessert and coffee because we didn’t want to spend the night.
I enjoyed a wonderful prix fixe brunch at Spring Mill Cafe with friends over the weekend! Wonderful, diverse menu. Attentive staff. Lovely setting and plenty of outdoor seating! I will definitely return!
Really enjoyed my time there for brunch. Waitress was very knowledgeable and made great suggestions. Was a little disappointed by the cheese platter that was available. Not enough variety and a lack of accompanying items to help enhance the platter. Overall, a bit pricey for the fare, but good quality food. Other than that, the ambiance was fantastic and extremely cozy on a rainy day. I hope to come back in the future.
An absolutely delightful experience on a Spring evening - food was amazing, blooming daffodils were nearby, service was friendly and warm. It's BYO, which also made the bill surprisingly small, given the extremely high quality of the food and very elegant/cozy setting.
Husband and I had date night and picked the perfect spot. Cozy, charming and great food. I had chicken liver pâté and lamb chops. Both were perfect. My husband was thrilled to find rabbit on the menu which he thoroughly enjoyed as well as his celery root soup and snail appetizer. Our server was Kim and she was was pleasant, attentive but not intrusive. Haven’t had French in quite a while but now have a “go to”. Looking to returning.
Excellent food in a charming environment. Service was top notch. Not inexpensive, but worth it.
Love Spring Mill. Wish they had more children’s options for something like Easter brunch.
Great for a special occasion or Tuesday
Great place with a delightful personality. Brunch for four was $185 (with the tip). The food was good but not amazing for this price. Service and atmosphere are great. If money is not a big deal for you then it's definitely worth it!
We had a very pleasant experience. It was our first time to Spring Mill Cafe, but it definitely won’t be the last. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. We are looking forward to returning and eating outdoors.
The people were very pleasant. The food was good.
Exceptional food, exceptional service, amazing history.
Wonderful food, lovely experience.
Our server, Louis, was knowledgeable, and incredibly personable - which really added to a Wonderful evening
Spring has sprung, and there's no better place to enjoy it! We enjoyed the usual excellent service, attention to detail, and fabulous fare that's been SMC for decades. This time around, we shared the chicken liver pate before salads (kale with grapefruit for my wife, beets with latkes for me). The potato latkes were so light, crispy, and tasty that I couldn have eaten a dozen! Then she had the fish special (crab stuffed trout), and I had an SMC classic - tajine. How the chef got that much chicken into the crock is beyond me, but it was both huge and delicious. With the classic bed of couscous carrying dried fruits and the traditional spices, it was truly outstanding.
What a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon... amazing friends, food and bubbly! We had a delicious brunch...every course was delicious! Thank you for Spring Mill Cafe! ❤️🍾🥂
