Spring Mill can not be beaten when you need a moment to relax and enjoy and step out of place and time of your hurried east coast life. A little piece of the old world close to home.
We love to go to Spring Mill Café for Easter Brunch. We are never disappointed. The food was delicious. We had the plateau of cheeses, leek soup, lamb chops, banana pain perdu and cassoulet. There was also some very tasty desserts. And of course, being a BYOB is a plus. Our waitress was charming and attentive. The ambiance in the farm house is very special and always reminds me of my birthplace in Burgundy, France.
Wonderful Easter brunch. Charming decor, delicious food, good service. Only complaint is we had to keep asking for coffee refills. We were in the farmhouse, which I prefer to main house as it's not so cramped. Very nice experience. Will definitely return.
Excellent food, wonderful service!!!
Wonderful French restaurant nestled in the Philadelphia suburbs. Great for a date night or small groups. A small, but high-quality menu that is full of interesting dishes.
Unfortunately I have eaten at Spring Mill Cafe for years under the original owner and this chef and crew just doesn't have the same talent. Food was good but not great. It always was great before. I still think it is a cute and romantic place to go, but would not rank it high as far as culinary inspiration. Sorry to say.
Went for lunch. Quiet. Great French food! Had trout almondine. Done perfectly. Great quaint, and somewhat unknown place in an historic home.
Spring Mill Café is a small gourmet restaurant bringing French cuisine to the area. The interior is sitting very few tables so reservations are a must, but once the weather turns they have outside seating to accommodate more people. The menu changes but it's always delicious. Save space for desert.
And it's BYOB which the experience even more affordable.
It was good food and pleasant.
As wonderful as Spring Mill Cafe is for everyday dining, the special meals are really extra special. The themed prix fixe this time around was Moroccan, starting with a generous plate of classic Moroccan shrimp. We think we tasted cumin, turmeric, cayenne, coriander, paprika, lemon, and maybe a bit of ginger in various bites - it was delicious! The main course was Moroccan striped bass, beautifully done and almost naked so we could appreciate its delightful taste and rich, meaty texture. And dessert (which we rarely eat but loved this time around) was a Moroccan cake with vanilla ice cream (yes, vanilla is really a flavor!) and candied orange peel. SMC has always brought a Moroccan twist to something on the menu, thanks to Michele Haines’ loves and influence as the founding owner, executive chef, and culinary / cultural guidance counselor to so many of us. This meal was a worthwhile tribute to her efforts!
We look forward to the next themed SMC meal, and will happily enjoy the regular menu between now and then. We suggest you do the same.
We loved our server. She was charming, knowledgeable, attentive, and so welcoming. The food as always was superb as was the service. It was quite noisy and was difficult for a conversation among all of us. We could converse side by side but not as a foursome. We came at 7pm on a Wednesday. Perhaps we should have made an earlier reservation. I would return without hesitation.
Waitress with an attitude. Music and loud kitchen made it hard to hear. Chef not accommodating. Asked for tomato’s in our omelette and they told us that they cat add ingredients just take away ingredients. Service was less than stellar.
As usual, such a sweet place to enjoy brunch- the service was really on point. We are having a bridal shower here soon and Spring Mill has been very helpful with our planning. I highly recommend for brunch, dinner or a party!
Disappointed on a beautiful spring evening. The escargot and pate sampler starters were both very enjoyable however the pate was served in 45 minutes, the escargot came another 20 minutes later. We were told that dish went to the wrong table. It happens no problem however it was another 45 minutes until our entrees were served. The rabbit saddle was over cooked rendering it very dry, the leg portions were moist but tough. My deconstructed cassoulet was well seasoned however the perfectly cooked rare duck breast was difficult to chew ruining the dish. The side of brussels sprouts was average fare. We finished with an excellent cappuccino.
UPDATE:: Ezra is the best! 15 minutes after posting I received a call from him! He promised to (make sure the staff understood to inform him if there were issues of any kind) and to make things right for us on our next visit! In honesty, I should have uncountable VERY POSITIVE ratings for Spring Mill cafe for their excellence in service over the past 15 years that we have been patrons!!
Sometimes it all comes down to timing . . . We had a waitress that seemed to be "learning the ropes". We arrived on time for a 7pm reservation. We were seated quickly, given menus and offered water as normal. After agreeing to lemon with the water, it never came. No problem. We reminded her about the lemon and she made an excuse that it was "just so busy with everyone coming in at the same time". She used this same excuse for the mix-up in appetizers. And one other time . . . It nearly got to the point that I thought we should ask if there was a better time that we could return that would be more convenient for her . . . We will come back again . . . hopefully at a more convenient time!
As per the update above, we are, as usual, looking forward to our next visit!!
Had a Delicious vegan option-Mushroom Bourguignon. Charming country french atmosphere.
Excellent Food, Outstanding Service! I always love going to BYOB's that have excellent service and Ethan was Amazing, my wine glass was never empty, which is always a plus! would definitely go there again.
Lovely place to spend quality time and enjoy amazing food. Definitely will come again.
Our favorite restaurant never disappoints! Our appetizers and main courses were perfect, and I absolutely loved the Mango-Apricot sorbet! One is never rushed here, and the staff go out of their way to be helpful.
This was a nice french restaurant the entrees were good just not necessarily outstanding. The dessert course was actually quite good and a bit more extraordinary. We liked the restaurant and will return often. Also worth mentioning quite a quaint and unique location.
First time at Spring Mill. An early reservation afforded us great personal service and the pleasure of enjoying the historic qualities of the property without distraction. The food was so so delicious. I would definitely recommend Spring Mill to my friends and colleagues. It's a lovely restaurant and I'm sure to go again.
Looking for a quiet away from the usual Friday night bar/restaurant places in Conshohocken. Read some of the reviews and checked with a friend and decided to make the reservations. Had to call to push back the time, as I was running late, and loved being greeted with a hello in French. Quite a nice touch. Lovely place just outside of Conshohocken proper and worth the slightly extra drive. Excellent staff and wonderful food. Saw that most walked in with the BYOB attached but had no problem with out. My Cod Fish special was DELICIOUS!! The chess board was enough for a light meal. Recommend for anyone who wants to have an enjoyable dinner out, able to sit and relax, no rushing and grateful to able to have a conversation without the crazy Friday night bar crowds. Go and enjoy - You won't be disappointed.
Spring Mill Cafe is fantastic! Always really well executed dishes with quality ingredients. Love that this is BYOB as well!
Recommend the Filet, any white fish or salmon, the smoked trout app.
The Creme Brulee was ok and the Daffodil Cake is very light and basic (not my taste but you may like it!) ... The Chocolate Mousse is amazing though!
The beets were a little lacking for the price. All in all, happy to frequent this place every few months!
I was very skeptical considering I have never been to a French restaurant before but IT WAS AMAZING!! 100% reccomend for brunch, my bridesmaids absolutely loved it!
I forgot how much I love Spring Mill Café. First of all for its wonderful location. It seems like you're in the middle of a forest! Secong, I love the farm like decorations and colors and furniture, etc etc. The atmosphere is down to earth but very attractive.
The menu is somewhat limited. Which is OK, but I did feel there was not much choice in entrees. Our appetizer, chicken liver pate was excellent. Next the salad was fresh greens, but nothing else. Pretty sparse. Plus the salad had dressing but it was not evenly distributed over all. Plus we had said we would split it. Could they have split it into 2 dishes for us?
My entrée was cassoulet. Very delicious and duck and pork were sumptuous. My husband had chicken which was equally tasty. The best was the Daffodil Cake which never fails to inspire!
Plus we love that it's BYO. That way we can spend more on the food and the service.
Our waitress was very attentive. Thanks Spring Mill Café for hitting a home run!
A very charming place with an old world ambience. The food is simple country influenced French style fare. The service was excellent and a wonderful place for a nice lunch. It is BYOB, which we did not knw at the time. Highly recommended for a casual meal with a farm feel just minutes away from Philadelphia.
We will return, with wine in hand.
Spring Mill Cafe is one of my very favorite restaurants. Delicious, charming, and friendly.
A charming spot, a clever conversion of a former general store into a country-inn type restaurant. Delicious food (American, French & North African). BYOB means prices are very reasonable.
Brunch at Spring Mill Cafe Sunday was just perfect! It seems like we got there after the brunch rush and we had a nice quiet spot by the window. We started with the cheese plate. My boyfriend ordered the steak and eggs and I had the eggs benedict. We treated ourselves to dessert, which was my favorite part of the meal. The nearly flourless chocolate cake was enough to bring me back again and again. Lisa, our server, was perfectly friendly. We will be back!
Table of 6 in the "Farmhouse". Excellent dinner. Food was great. Staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. We've had several dinners and lunches here over the years and it's always been great.
As always, we had a great meal with very attentive service. We have been here several times, and it never disappoints.
Our son and daughter in law gave us a gift certificate to Spring Mill Cafe and we finally had an opportunity to use it last week. I can only say that from the moment we walked in until we walked out, everything was five star. Service was superb, the ambience was very cozy, and of course, the food was absolutely divine! We will be back soon...Thank you very much Spring Mill for a divine evening
It was a well done ding experience from start to finish.
Forgot how good this place is. Everyone agreed that the Appetizers , entrees and dessert we're all very, very good. Great place for a special occasion
We have been passing by this place for years but never stopped. What a find. It is lovely. The service, the food, the staff are all exceptional. It will definitely be one of our go to places from now on. Can't wait to try their dinner menu.
The food was good, it was not seasoned enough. The service was very slow and the restaurant was full and noisy.
First time to this restaurant after living here for 23 years. Great French style cooking in a very unique setting making you feel like you are in a restaurant in France. I had the smoked scallops starter with delicious morsels of octopus and mussels followed by the Mediterranean Sea Bass. My Partner is Vegan and he enjoyed the Beets without the crème fraiche and the Mushroom Bourguignon. The Server was very helpful, attentive and cheery. We will go back with friends.
The food was excellent and served friendly and knowledgeably.
Always wonderful - never a bad choice on the menu!
I ordered salmon on risotto but it was regular rice with peas, salmon was cold inside so I requested to cook more and I was served reheated on plate which it made the rice mushy and peas over cooked.
So sorry to hear about your experience the other night. It was a shellfish risotto with leeks, I can assure it was not "regular" rice. There were no peas just the sautéed leeks. Obviously my staff failed to describe it properly. Please send me an email as I would love to send a small gift to motivate you to try us again. Sincerely, Ezra Haines firstname.lastname@example.org
