What a disappointing lunch. For $29 a pasta, you expect the food to be brought in on time and taste delicious.
Mine was WAY to salty and made me feel sick the rest of the day. My other 6 guests were not impressed by the long wait for food either.
The experience is always great at sportello
The place was noisy the seats were very uncomfortable I didn’t come to a restaurant to sit at the bar overall I was very disappointed. The hors d’oeuvre was tasteless the main course was very nice the dessert was OK. I will never go back
My husband and I dined here for the first time. The food was outstanding although portion sizes/dishes per person were confusing. We might not have understood our server properly. My husband and I ended up doing the shared meal for $55 per person which seemed about right. The spicy tomato soup was a highlight. I could have that soup every day and never tire of it! Unclear that portions represented the value of the food.
Really enjoyed sportello and Francis and Chloe were excellent at finding us seating after a long drive which put us at the restaurant late. Great meal!
Excellent service at the bar. This is a great place for a meal at a relaxed pace. Do at least three courses.
High hopes based on the buzz of the place, it was good, not spectacular. I would go back and give it another try. I am pulling for this place
I just love the open-kitchen design of the restaurant. It's such a unique experience for me. The pasta was really good, too!
Excellent food with very nice ingredients. The wine arrangement made our dinner complete.
The lobster gnocchi is one of the best things I've ever eaten!
We had a great time celebrating my husband's birthday the other night. The food was impeccable. We will definitely be back.
Have never been disappointed. Dishes are always thoughtfully composed, balanced and delicious. Counter seating might not be for everyone, but there are some standard tables as well.
Great experience sat at the bar right by the chef. Food was delicious and service was great. Great place, great atmosphere
Great food and wine were great portion sizes are a little small for price but not enough to keep us from returning
This was my second time eating at Sportellos. My wife and I had a lunch on a Saturday afternoon in February and I ordered the Strozzapretti, braised rabbit with pasta. My pasta was gummy and way over salted and the sauce was little more than butter with a touch of rosemary. My wife had the Procsciutto and Ricotta Mezzaluna and she was disappointed as well. Two years ago we had a good meal here so hopefully the chef was just having a bad day.
Sweet place with very interesting and flavorful comfort food. Really good energy and unobtrusive, hospitable service. We definitely will return. Sportello put a smile on my face.
Sportello seems to have gone downhill. They are perpetually understaffed.
Overpriced and over rated
Local gem. Black garlic pasta was delicious
Great setting, very helpful staff. Food was great. We will definitely dine at Sportello again.
Sportello is one of our favorite restaurants and never disappoints. We went for a sunny, Sunday afternoon lunch. Our server was friendly and attentive. My husband had the gnocchi which was, and is, always sublime. Light, creamy with delicate flavors. I had the cod...perfectly seared on top and cooked to perfection. Would give this 8 stars at least if I could!
We chose Sportello to celebrate my birthday. We were unaware that the majority of the seating is comprised of stools around a counter. We wish we would have known (no indication of this on the OpenTable app) as it was as intimate of a dining experience as we would have hoped. I would recommend marking the seating as *alternative seating on the app/website so it's clearer for those that are booking.
Sportello has been on my list of places to try for awhile. While my boyfriend and I enjoyed our meals, we didn't think the entire dinner was worth the price.
We ordered the cheese plate, and all we got was a little slab of cheese. It cost $5 just to get a side of bread to go with it.
Had fun time. 4 of us. Did family style which was OK - appeared they forgot it was for 4 people - salad could have had a few more lettuce leaves, bruschetta type appetizer could have had 4 slices versus 2 slices, things were not cut/sliced for 4, and since it was family style, there should have been some serving utensils provided. All in all was delicious and pacing was perfect.
We love the food. The service. The atmosphere. Everything
Not worth the $$. Pacing of meal was SLOW AF.
Valentines Day menu was tasteless and boring. Small portions. Wildly overpriced. Service very slow - took 2.5 hrs to get through the meal.
Loved this place. The food is fresh, imaginative and tasty. The service efficient and friendly. Sitting at the bar is fun. I will be back.
Food was quite good, and there are good options on the menu. It's a bit pricey for the food preparation, we got the bolognese ($28) which is stored in tubs in a refrigerator and reheated over fresh pasta. Sometimes the concept of being able to see in the kitchen can work against you.
The service is strange because it's diner seating, so we never felt like we had great service, but waitstaff was friendly and relatively knowledgable.
I'd caution folks, because of the concept it's not very private, and you'll sit next to your date vs across from them, but it did make it easier for us to share.
While a lot of this review seems negative, we actually had a really solid meal, good wine, and for a pair of parents that don't get out much, it was a great night out.
Not sure what the hype is about...food was very unimpressive and really not worth the money. $30 for gnocchi with lobster and there were only a few flecks of lobster to be found. Service was absolutely excellent, unfortunately food did not at all live up to hopes or expectations.
Always wonderful food on point and always delicious and consistent.
Food was excellent but the menu was very pricey and limited. Amazing service though!
The service was impeccable, and the food sublime. We shared the beet and prosciutto salad, the tagliatelle bolognese, and the pork shank. The presentations were simple and elegant, and the tastes were fantastic. They made it easy to share and we felt welcomed and happy to be there. Do wish that the stools at the counter had backs!
Great food and casual ambiance!
Service was friendly and perfectly paced. Food was bliss! Never a disappointment!
The food was delicious. We were 4 people so we decided to order the tasting this way we could try more things. The portions are family style but not enough food for 4 people. Next time we each order our own appetizer and main course.
The food and ambience were spectacular. We chose three courses for myself and my partner along with wine pairings. All were excellent with one exception. The braiser rabbit pasta was a bit too salty but other than that everything was wonderful. Our server was attentive and extremly knowledgeable about the food as well as the wine.
Great wine list, pasta and service! Lobster gnocchi was awesome, light pillow gnocchi and a generous amount of lobster too. I loved the peas in this dish, made it really fresh. The bolognese was also great, tasty pasta. I would stick with pastas, I had the mussels, they were mediocre.
Totally recommend for great food, great service and fun date spot!
Food and service were good but I have had better there. Soup was not hot and tortellini too salty.
At first I was surprised at how casual the restaurant was (barstool seats), but I came to love every aspect of our visit: quickly seated, cozy ambiance, friendly service, and delicious food.
