With two U-shaped counters situated around an open kitchen, Sportello (Italian for counter service) offers a menu from Chef Barbara Lynch featuring trattoria-inspired Italian dishes for both lunch and dinner. A modern interpretation of a diner located in the Boston Fort Point neighborhood, Sportello features an approachable, artisan wine list. Snag a stool at the counter and enjoy a bowl of handmade pasta!

Please note: Sportello is primarily counter seating, but does have several tables for more conventional seating. Tables are available for parties of four or more. For parties of 7 & up, please fill out a form on our website.

INDOOR DINING: Reservations can be made 30 days in advance, and due to the small nature of our restaurant, table seating is limited.

    Please note due to COVID-19 restrictions we are currently not offering valet services however there is on-street parking, several open air lots and garages within two blocks of Sportello.     Absolutely lovely place to eat with friends, for business, casually at the bar, or on a nice date. Excellent level of service, nice atmosphere, and exceptional menu. Work every penny!

    The food at Sportello's is nothing short of spectacular. However, the restaurant is so cold (we have been on 2 separate occasions) we were miserable. Table next to us had puffer jackets and wool hats on during diner, another table near us stood up and left. We mentioned this on both occasions and it seemed to be a known issue. The temperature ruined our meal.

    The restaurant has very cute atmosphere and open concept. However, it was a cold night and the restaurant stayed very cold. We were sitting next to the window and had to keep our jackets on for most of the evening. The menu is somewhat limited for options but the food was excellent.

    Food was so disappointing. Lamb panini was so fatty and overcooked was inedible. Really poor quality overall so disappointing. Service was nice and wine was great.

    Highly recommend the gnocchi with lobster! The music playing on the PA system was a bit loud for us. The waitperson was excellent! Having to climb stairs to get in was a surprise, though I was able to do it.

    Some dishes were great, others lacked flavor. Host tried to steer us to countertop seats, even though we specifically reserved table seats saying table seats are typical reserved for larger parties. Service was slow at some points and at others they were rushing us through a course.

    Food was delicious from the salad to the meatball appetizer w fresh bread to the pastas as well as the cocktails. Staff was all friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely no frills but comfortable fine dining. Simple, bright lighting.

    The food and wine were excellent, and I expect to pay a lot for good food in Boston. Dinner for two with one cocktail and a bottle of wine was $420. There are other restaurants in Boston and Cambridge that are as good or better, and significantly less expensive, like Pammy's (which is still pricey, but would cost about $100 less). That said it was really very good and I would go back if I were stuck in Seaport.

    I visited Sportello for the weekend lunch. Showed up at noon but they already ran out of lobsters for the lobster gnocchi. My server suggested to replace the substitute to chicken and I accepted the change. Surprisingly small amount of pinky nail sized chicken dices over the gnocchi came and other dishes were also ridiculously small. After the bill, server brought a bill and found out THEY CHARGED SAME PRICE AS ORIGINAL LOBSTER GNOCCHI. I complaint about the price but they didn’t changed the price Restaurant was very slow but no host at the entrance-waited more than 15min holding my 20lb baby, overall appetizer-sized small portion but extremely pricey, boring menu, outdated tables and interior.. honestly saying this restaurant has no value.

    Very enjoyable lunch. Prix fixe. Nice salad to start. The pasta dishes we had were excellent and came out hot. The desserts were just enough to hit the spot.

    As always, excellent food and service. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Boston. I usually have dinner at Sportello, but had lunch on this visit. Everything met the same high standards provided at their dinner service.

    Food was amazing. What I didn’t like was that it was super drafty… It was in the low 50s and rainy and dreary outside in the AC was blowing on me.

    Food was very well done, homemade pasta. We sat at a table but they offer “counter” seating which looks a little cramped. The service was extremely slow and the waitress was not attentive but the support staff made up for it

    I rated four stars but our experience was really three stars. I don’t want to hurt a restaurant I like, but I hope they’ll see this and make some changes. Service was full of gaps. Food was good to mediocre. Like many restaurants post Covid, there seems to be a lack of training and/or full staffing. Meatballs were served cold. Server disappeared so we ate them anyway. I hope Sportello can return to form soon.

    I thought the Red Snapper app was the most inventive and tasteful plate we enjoyed. the pasta was very good lobster and the bolognese. The duck was overcooked and not a wow factor.

    Our experience was good— relatively slow service but decent food. The duck was overdone but was still tasty. The most upsetting part was that the restaurant no longer accommodates bringing you down to Drink for a post dinner cocktail— that was the whole reason we chose Sportello was to get into Drink afterwards for a nightcap. I was on a date with a friend from out of town and would've chosen a different restaurant entirely if I had known we would not be getting into Drink after dinner. Unfortunate but won't be back with the new policy.

    The pasta bolognese was as good as any I’ve ever had. Even something simple,like the salad and bread basket, exceeded expectations. Our family recipe for meatballs is the best I’ve ever had, so it’s hard for me to be impressed by meatballs. These were one of the better ones I’ve had, but still not as good as our homemade ones. The wine by the glass was better quality than you usually get by the glass. The tiramisu was more modern and elevated. I love the ambiance, and the service was impeccable from a team that works well together. I will be back.

    The waitstaff was incredible. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating. The manager was very helpful in locating our gift certificate. The food from beginning to end was fabulous. The breadbasket had a wonderful assortment of breads. The Waugh beef melted and your mouth. The broccolini and potatoes we prepared perfectly. Between the incredible food and terrific staff it was a wonderful way to celebrate our 50 anniversary.

    Did not live up to expectations The first option I chose was not available, then after taking my order the side we ordered was not available this is on a Sunday evening at 8.30?? The starters lamb meatballs were tasty but did not look appetising .Our mains was a pasta dish that was supposed to have lobster in it there was no more than a small claw and it was too salty. As I said disappointing
