Perfection in every way.
The restaurant was very hot. Even though the food was really delicious, we did not want to linger.
Their service was excellent, apologizing for the warmth when mentioned
Loved this restaurant! The gnocchi was outstanding. My only regret was they ran out out bread, thus forcing me to scrape the bowl clean with my spoon the best I could. I recommend it highly.
Delicious food, good service and very nice ambiance!
The best tagliatelle I've ever had! The pasta was so thin, it ate light, rather than heavy like most pastas. Even the simple salad was flavorful, but still light. The food is top notch, but the ambiance leaves something to be desired - it is quite casual, with plastic chairs and the restrooms visible from any where in the dining room.
Had a terrific dinner at the counter corner table. It was loud with amazing food and a great wine list. Highly recommend.
Spicy tomato soup , tagliatelle and spaghetti with clams all on point ! Great evening of dining :)
Overall a very good restaurant for Italian food in Boston.
Excellent. Modern Italian. Really good Italian wine list. Very noisy and great for couples at counters to talk and share. Would love to go back.
Sportello literally has some of the best food & decor in the city of Boston - would highly recommend
Birthday dinner for my father
Loved that you can watch the staff cook while you wait! Everything was delicious
Fantastic dining experience. Our server was very knowledgeable and so polite. The food, especially the focaccia and tagliatelle were perfect.
Asked for tap water and were brought bottled water. Ordered gluten free gnocchi, got tagliatelle one hour and 40 minutes later. No communication from our server. Asked for the manager and he was very gracious. The table next to us also struggled with service.
Fabulous food and happy we could sit outside during Covid. But outside was very noisy - when trucks went by (very frequently on a week night) conversation had to stop until they passed. Would not go back until I was comfortable eating inside.
Amazing tastes. Amazing wait staff. We are not regulars to the Seaport but this little gem would be our hangout if we were!!
The 3 guests I was with ordered bolognese and one received spaghetti with clams but the server quickly resolved his order. They all received a very healthy portion and I was told it was very good.
I ordered spaghetti with clams which was a significantly smaller portion, about the size of a small coffee cup tipped upside down and had only 6 clams which were the size of a dime. I left with room to spare
The food, service, ambiance were all wonderful. We very much enjoyed our dinner.
overpriced place with very small portions. charcuterie was good
More of a casual place than one for a date
Modern, clean design with tables and large countertop seating. Reminded me of a diner on some level. Bustling energy with lots of activity. Service was good, although I could see other servers that were more responsive to their tables than ours was. Our table looked out into the street and it was great to see all of the activity around us. Food was excellent. It is expensive, but the gnocchi I ordered was sublime. I had no ideas it could be so light and delicious. I would absolutely recommend it!
Bad service, food, and ambience. Table chipped all over top. Food over cooked and over salted. And service borderline rude. Would be ok for 18 dollar food. Not for prices charged.
Great food, great service. Thanks for a wonderful meal and experience.
The food and service were good, but my wife nearly passed out during our anniversary dinner because the AC in the restaurant was not working during the summer heatwave. We ended up asking to get our entrees as takeout since it was so hot inside and my wife was not feeling well, and of course, pasta this good isn’t nearly as enjoyable when taken out of a plastic container. Moreover, since we drove over 1 hour to check out this restaurant, it also didn’t help that the seating situation is uncomfortable at the bar (especially when we couldn’t hang up or check-in a suit jacket and a purse and work bag). We had booked our reservation for a special occasion, thinking we’d be seated at a table. Instead, we overheated, were uncomfortable, felt anxious about the lack of social distancing when it came to seating at the bar amid the latest Covid surge, and left prematurely.
Lots of wasted potential here. Staff stretched too thin (servers making cocktails…seriously?). Hospitality lacking (esp the host. Really hope she wasn’t the GM). Food has potential but needs some serious oversight. Under seasoned, missing ingredients. Owner should have a serious look in here. Hoped for a better night…
pasta was very good, but took over an hour just to get bread. 1 1/2 hours to get our meal and the appetizer came out after our dinner....
Food and service was good but counter seating is tight and awkward. A little over priced for what it is.
Patio was a great option
Best Bolognese ever. Noodles are delicate in texture and broad enough to capture the perfectly balanced sauce. Gnocchi is a garlic lover's delight offset by the sweet lobster. Arugula soup, served cold, whispers it's flavor; a perfect restorative for hot summer nights. The Gelato and Espresso dessert combines into cascading temperatures and textures. It's just fun to see the components swirling in a confluence of taste. Ambiance is a let down. To name the décor is difficult, but "neglected Spartan" comes to mind. The music is a good eclectic mix, lively enough to fill lulls in conversation but not intrusive otherwise. Do not deny yourself the pleasures that emanate from Sportello's kitchen. All else fades to background with your first taste.
Pasta was excellent. Great flavors in all our main/ pasta dishes
Food, drinks and service were top notch!! First time here, definitely coming back. The gnocchi dish I had was one of the best I’ve eaten! Compliments to your chef’s!😍
You’re probably going to be drawn to Sportello for all the same reasons that we were: Barbara Lynch, the feature in Best of Boston 2021, the lively Seaport location. Unfortunately, it seems like the buzz that has surrounded this restaurant for years is probably just flies. My boyfriend took me here for dinner to celebrate my new job, and it was just a bummer from the moment we walked in the door. The counter seating is fun and kitschy, but the lighting is harsh and the noise overwhelming. The layout of the restaurant should make it such that the waitress is easily accessible, but ours (albeit friendly) was always just out of reach. Our 90 minute timeslot stretched to well over two hours, mostly due to a delay in getting our food. The ricotta appetizer was by far the highlight, super yummy, but everything else was a miss. The salad was too anchovy-heavy, the pork belly was fatty and bland, the lobster gnocchi was under-seasoned and the bolognese was just underwhelming. The affofato was nothing more then a stale biscotti drowning in a cup of cold espresso. Then the bill came… We are happy to spend good money and good food, but this was just such a waste. I wish I had heeded other reviews to steer clear! If you must go to Sportello, try to order off the ciccetti menu, which looked more promising. But honestly, you are better off at any of the other restaurants in the area. Note to Barbara Lynch: Time to pop in on your waterfront wunderkind. It needs your attention.
Loved being back at one of my favorite spots in Fort Point Channel / Seaport
This place is very expensive for slow service, mediocre food and a very bright, loud, and unappealing ambiance. Won’t be back.
The bolognese was delicious as usual. I like it when it has some heat added which it didn't this time.
Music was a tad loud.
First off our waiter was fantastic. He made great recommendations in regards to both food and wine. The atmosphere was really fun too. Would definitely go back.
Loved the Food and Service. It was amazing. Not crazy about set up. Think more tables than bar stools. For the prices and the quality of food, you want to sit with your party at a table.
