First time here and the atmosphere and food and service was perfect. Can’t wait to go back!
Amazing food! Such a great restaurant
I was a regular of Sportello and used to go every month or every couple of weeks but of late I hadn't been back in about a year. Food is still great but the service was very slow.
Definitely go to the bar downstairs before dinner, they personalize all their drinks to your tastes and they were amazing. The food was also supurb with rich and warm flavors. All the bread is made in house, and we could not stop eating it, it was light, fluffy, moist, and delicious. All the staff were very friendly, I'm definitely planning on going back here soon.
The food is fantastic. My only complaint is the bar stools at the counter are uncomfortable to sit on but easily remedied by requesting a table. Best Italian food I have had in the city. Love!
The people who served us were knowledgeable and took the time needed to explain everything.
Excellent as always. SO bummed they stopped offering half portions!!!!!!
We have a lot going on and some exciting eating in Cambridge but nothing beats the love and attention we get at Sportello’s! We’ve found over the years that when we give a heads up, the staff is ready for us and willing to let us slow down and enjoy celebrating. I’m grateful that the food, ambiance, and environment allow for us to be our full selves and celebrate the successes in our lives. And success could mean just thanking yourself-this is your spot!
Considering it’s a Barbara Lynch’s restaurant, I expected so much more. Lobster gnocchi was great but the rabbit pasta had a lot of bones (little pieces that you would find in your mouth) and a PIECE OF PLASTIC! Yes, that was very unpleasant. As a cook myself, I don’t know how they let it happen. But worse than that was the way waiters responded, almost like it was not a big deal so why bothering apologizing right
I was late and they kindly notified my guest about it! Food was excellent ...we both had gemelli and hen. Cannoli also excellent . We were early (5:45 on weekday) and it was quiet enough to have a good conversation .
Absolutely delicious. So delicious that I went back the following day to buy the Chef’s cookbook. It was a meal to remember and hopefully replicate. I loved our waiter. I loved my bolognese. I loved the counter seating. I loved everything about my dining experience. I will be back!
Consistently excellent and friendly
Lovely service and a fun atmosphere. Food was fine but not as good as we remember it being a few years ago.
Not only is the ambiance so cool, but the food and drinks are beyond amazing. I recommended Sportello to ANYONE looking for a fine dining experience!!
Sitting in the main U Bar is by far the place to sit, lot of energy. Can watch the kitchen move....
- Food was superb as always, gnocci is the must get. Meat plate and the cheese of the day was also a delicious treat.
- Waiter was also great, usually we have Ethan help out in the main seating area, Ted was a great substitute, super helpful and knowledgeable.
- You could feel the energy in the place, especially in that U Bar area.
*Would recommend 100%
The food was great, however we were not seated until over an hour past my reservation. 2 of my party of 3 were running a little late, and I went in-person to ask if I could push the reservation from 8pm to 8:20ish. They said it wouldn't be a problem and we checked in with the entire party of 3 around 8:20. We were not seated until after 9pm, waiting a while to get a server, and had to ask for bread twice because we were so hungry after our long wait. I will not be going back and risking such a long wait.
I've been to Sportello multiple times and have always enjoyed the food. Recently stopped in for Truffle Week. Service was very good - prompt, friendly, good wine recommendations. Green salad and cannoli for dessert were all lovely. I ordered the cacio e pepe with the freshly shaved truffles - no complaints about the truffles, but the pasta itself was a disappointment. Cacio e pepe is such a simple dish that it should be done perfectly, with a precise balance of ingredients. This version had no discernible black pepper at all. It looked and tasted like pasta and cheese, plus the truffles. I had to grind a substantial amount of pepper on it to give it some bite. I understand that the dish was probably on the menu in order to highlight the truffles, but it surprised me that the pasta wasn't really tasty enough to stand on its own (and good cacio e pepe should absolutely stand on its own). My companions' dishes were both good (branzino & steak) - and I've had good pasta in the past, so I'll probably come back - maybe this was an off night for the cacio e pepe.
The food was amazing.
Lovely evening. The price fix meal was awesome and they surprised us with each course.
As usual great food, we both had their 2 course lunch special, which was delicious. A nice touch, the waiter offered us a second wine option vs the one we had selected. Never had a bad meal or bad experience at Sportello. Keep doing what you are doing!
Outstanding food from the octopus salad to the rabbit as well as the tagliatelle. The tagliatelle was incredible. Even the bread offered during dinner was some of the best I’ve had.
Taglietelle Bolognese was very good.
Great spot. I just craved some quality homemade pasta and I got exactly what I was looking for here. The fresh baked bread is also fairly impressive. I’d go back any day!!
Fantastic food and atmosphere. Informal setting coupled with spectuaclar food. One of the best restaurants in Boston.
Excellent food and service. Sportello is becoming one of our favorites.
Our waiter was phenomenal and gave us free wine to complement our entrees. It made the whole experience so much better.
Very creative and tasty foods with an ambience on the noisy side. Service, while attentive, was a bit slow.
I live in SF but always go to Sportello when I'm Boston because I love the casual vibe and great food and cocktails ! Service was awesome too!
Cute diner vibe. Love the bolognaise! Very good service
We love Sportello.... we have been dining there and taking guests and friends there since their opening!
Classics remain on the menu....
and each season an array of new items to select from.
The service is very good, food consistent, staff welcoming and friendly but professional.
What more could one ask for!
In Boston overnight.
Went for our anniversary dinner and sat at a bar style table on top of many other people (elbow to elbow). Was not the atmosphere we were hoping for, however the food was great.
Loved the Sportello experience! Amazing food. A little pricey!
I love Sportello. This is one of the best meals around. It isn't cheap, but great food never is. Get the pasta, skip the dessert. They now have cocktails, and those are fabulous, too.
The menu is not extensive, but includes something for everyone. I have some dietary restrictions and they were great about making adjustments. Interesting dinning at a counter which almost dosen't exist anymore. Definitely a different dining experience.
I had a pretty good experience the first time I went. I was at a table, so didn't notice the booths' experience. I sat in a booth this time - and it was very uncomfortable. Do not go here if you want to catch up with a friend or have a conversation. The food was way over priced. The cocktail was very small and very expensive. Portions are extremely small.
I was actually toggling between four stars and five stars. Why? The service was warm and expert. The ambiance was fun, especially the window seat. The staff acknowledged our anniversary multiple times. And the food was delicious, even stupendous beginning with the fresh tomato soup with savory crouton and keeping apace throughout the chef's tasting menu. The challenge? Well, if food is love, we were smothered in love. Every morsel was delicious- but there was so much of it! So much and we were too ashamed to leave a bite behind or take home a doggy bag. So we indulged - down to the cannolis. Stuffed to the gills we rolled out into the night ...
Amazing food. Some of the best in the Seaport. The bolognese is incredibly rich and delicious. But they save you by giving you just the right portion sizes. Great location for business lunch with an open 2nd floor overlooking the street.
