I absolutely loved Spork! Our waiter was phenomenal and suggested some great food. My mom and I tried a whole bunch of different things. My ffavorite was the roasted root vegetable salad. The pulled pork Mac and cheese was also delicious! Great find!
First time was amazing this is our second visit and it was good but we some of the same dishes we had that were the same we’re inconsistent
Great preparation. The branzino was perfectly cooked. Everything was absolutely delicious, including the cocktails. The waiter, Peter was great as well. This was our first time and we will definitely be coming back to explore more of the menu.
Staff is always friendly which is apprecated but service can be a bit slow at times. The dishes vary considerably in size with half-servings of the pasta dishes available and smaller plates ("bites") also offered. Best to get advice from wait staff on how much to order for two or more when sharing--but do share to enjoy the variety offered.
The food was absolutely incredible, one of the best meals we've ever had! The crab soufflé blew us away, to the point that we still dream about it, and everything else was just as incredible. We went home with smiles on our faces and our bellies full :)
Because it is a tapas restaurant, the portions are small... appetizer size. That wouldn't be a problem except that the prices are entree sized. The ingredients are creative and somewhat unusual. The service was very good and the waitress explained dishes in detail. My main issue was that the portions were very small for the price.
My husband and I travel a lot and we consider Spork HANDS DOWN our absolute FAVORITE!!! We always order different dishes off the menu every time we go and we have never not loved everything! You can’t go wrong with anything you get! The chefs are awesome and SO nice and friendly! Our experience there is always fantastic! It’s a must visit every time we go to Pittsburgh!
We sat at the counter and it was so fun. Our server was great.
Spork never disappoints. New and vibrant ways of combining ingredients to play delightfully on the palate as well as catch the eye will keep you coming back for more. If there was one word that describes it, that words is: thought. Everything is thought through, and done so with perfection in mind. Big dining on small plates. But with food that satisfies this well, small plates are plenty. It's a little on the pricier side of things, but it's worth it if you like to explore flavor. If you want to gorge yourself, this probably isn't the place for you.
The food was delicious -- very unusual items. There were a lot of dishes with meat, but they were very accommodating to leave the meat out of the fish options if we requested it. It was a very fun and pleasant atmosphere. I would definitely come back.
Came for the 1st time for our Anniversary (put on the res, wasn’t acknowledged. No big deal). Our server was very friendly and explained the menu well. We chose 4 things to split between the 2 of us try different dishes. Overall a good experience, until the bill came. Our 2 bourbons were charged double the listed amount on the menu, and we were charged the full sized mac & cheese (vs. tapas size). We didn’t want to look cheap and say something but, really? We told our server we wanted to sample different things so why the full size dish? We were never asked when we ordered, but thought it was assumed we wanted the tapas portion (we didn’t know when we were served as we have no idea in portion size since it was our first time). I have no idea how the bar drinks got to be, but it was just a sour way to end the evening. Menu prices are high for portions, so due to this and being charged more than advertised for drinks/our server not being clear about our choices, I do not think we will be returning.
My lady love and I came for dinner and drinks to celebrate one year together.
Spork was amazing! The chicken and Mac n cheese were our favorites, but every single plate we got was fabulous! Before we even left, I couldn't wait to go back! This restaurant will leave you satisfied in every sense! The food and the service are remarkable!
Unique flavors, great space, creative drinks and reasonable prices. Worth repeating.
Great meal at Spork to celebrate our arrival in Pittsburgh- we just moved here from NYC and the meal did not disappoint. Peter, our server, was personable, warm, humorous and extremely knowledgeable about the diverse food and drink menu. We shared about 5 plates between us- the crab soufflé was our favorite, although the pear salad was a close second, and the french fries are cooked in duck fat and crisped to perfection! We sat at the chef's counter and had a great time interacting with the kitchen staff.
food was VERY good
atmosphere was very nice
it was a surprise because the area is not very nice
The counter top seating is my favorite!
Fantastic food and service! Very creative and unique dishes. Will definitely be back!!!
We like when there are new items on the menu!
This place is truly amazing! I've heard good things but I didn't expect the food to be that delicious. The chef is a genius! fearless at times we felt but he definitely knows his business! I HIGHLY recommend this place!
Terrific food and attentive service.
Service was great. We sat at counter by choice. I am recently GF (not by choice and both our server (Peter and the Chef were 100% invests in helping us choose and also educating us on some other tricks.
Food was fabulous. We had the pork cheeks and we could have taken a bath on the sauce.
Great food, little pricey
My overall experience was enjoyable. However, I found the lighting to be too dark and the "blue" lights above the high tables too harsh. They actually made everything on my plate look purple!
Spork is one of our favorites. This time we sat at the counter to watch the chefs work. They were friendly and professional and we loved hearing about the food prep - even the food we didn’t order this time but will try the next!
Went to Spork for New Years Eve dinner and had a great meal and a good time. They offered a prix fixe menu for the evening and each course was delicious and filling. We also indulged in the champagne tasting. They were able to accommodate me with gluten free options of the evenings menu and it was spectacular. We have been to Spork on other occasions and would highly recommend it.
We attended on New Year's eve when there was a set menu with six courses preceded by bread with a selection of spreads. We chose not to have the paired wines as we were going on to another event. Each course was special and delicious; the lump crab souffle was fantastic. A beet shrub was served between the lobster and the steak, most unusual. By our lights the meal was quite expensive, but worth it as a very special and unusual occasion.
First timers and not sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised with the ambiance, service and offerings. A big edgy and some spicy, good for us. Even the dessert was creative and tasty. Go early if you want less energy and overall noise.
lovely evening. sat at kitchen counter. friendly helpful staff. will definitely be back
We went with a tapas approach and found each dish to be thoughtfully prepared. We started with the mushrooms which were savory and fantastic, especially because of a generous use of garlic. Next was the crab soufflé filled with sweet crab and a nice egginess. I expected the crab to be slightly overcooked because it was baked in a soufle, but somehow the chef managed not to do that. Next was the pork cheek, which had a great sauce and was well flavored but the pork was slightly overcooked and a bit cheewy. We also had the brisket ravioli which was fantastic, every element was perfectly cooked and intensely flavorful. We had to order bread to make sure we got all the sauce. Finally we had the lamb meatballs in a yogurt sauce which were again very tasty, but considering it was lamb a bit bland, they could have used a little more seasoning or herbs. Overall, it was a wonderful experience full of pleasant surprises and I look forward to returning.
On a very busy night, our server was too busy. Very loud. However we ughly enjoyed it. Our first round of drinks seemed a bit skimpy on the liquor but when we said something, the second round was right.
Beautiful restaurant with absolutely delicious, creative tapas. The whole menu was enticing, and we liked every dish we ordered. They were really busy, and our server was not equipped to handle it - really pretty rough service getting us started, but the dinner and ambiance were superb. Definitely a favorite for us. Love this place.
Great food. Very savory. Nice ambiance. Only criticism is a limited selection of wines by the glass.
We had several small plates just to try the menu and the restaurant. All were good and a few even better. The pasta bolognese was outstanding with a very modest amount of pasta and an intense and dense sauce. Pasta was freshly made. I had a root vegetable salad with feta and arugula that was also better than par.
This would be a good spot for happy hour as well as for a meal.
Go for the pulled pork mac and cheese. it is really good.
Outstanding and extraordinarily imaginative menu. Smoking and curing is done magnificently, with flavors blending subtly and wonderfully--not overdone. The various dishes, small and large, offer great combinations of flavors and are cooked perfectly. This is my fourth time dining at Spork and the same praise applies for each occasion. Spork is a gem.
As usual, everything was wonderful
Fabulous neighborhood with an eclectic, vegan friendly menu featuring interesting & delicious food with global influences and terrific local beers. A fun, lively gathering spot!
Great food and great drinks. Service was also very good. Portion sizes are on the smaller side for the prices.
Food was well prepared with a nice level of variety. Cocktail menu isn't large, but had interesting takes in some classics. The wine list had a pleasantly surprising number of wines at a reasonable price point. The one we selected was wonderful. Service was good with a helpful staff.
