If you're looking for an elevated dinning experience in Pittsburgh (without it feeling too stuffy)- this is your place! Food was incredible, and while the price point is on the higher end, they give you a lot of complimentary courses which helps justify the cost. Very cool vibe as well! Highly recommend.
Spork has completely changed their menu and focus. No longer is it a "tapas" style offering the possibility of mixing and matching different types of dishes to make a meal. It is now a decidedly "high end" restaurant with a limited menu and much more formal feel. While the cooking is still very good and innovative, there is a big value question. $36 for a medium sized serving of tagliatelle bolognese? Two of the about 7 entrees featured Wagyu beef and were north of $73 each. Appetizers were generally $20 and over for a medium to small sized portion. I feel that even on the high end in Pittsburgh you can find better value, but yet everything at Spork was professional and tasty so if that doesn't matter you will probably enjoy it.
The restaurant has changed its approach. We used to order mostly small plates, but now there are a few small plates and more main dishes. We shared two small plates and one main dish and they were all really delicious. It's an expensive night out, but I could not have made any of these dishes at home -- very special food. I would definitely recommend it! Would love to see a couple more veggie items.
It was our first time at Spork and it was fantastic! Would highly recommend!
Great experience. The staff and owner were fabulous. Fantastic food and drinks as well!
The food, cocktails and staff are phenomenal. Will definitely be returning with friends next time!
Had a delicious dinner. Our waiter and the staff were very attentive and our waiter’s recommendations for small plates and cocktails were spot on. The meal starts with a ratatouille puff pastry amuse bouche- we could’ve eaten an entire plate of those! We had scallops, octopus, and the hummus/crackers/beet salad to start. Everything was perfectly cooked and delicious, especially the octopus. They bring out bread and olive oil/seaweed butter after. The bread is made in house and extremely fresh and fluffy. I liked the seaweed butter as well, it was different from your usual plain butter. For entrees we had the forest mushroom ravioli- a pretty generous helping and delicious, and the branzino. Unfortunately the branzino did not match the level of perfection that the other dishes did- it was somewhat tough and not that flavorful. That was the most disappointing dish of the night, so one star docked for that. We were too full for dessert but they brought out milk chocolate with caramel miso- another win.
All in all a great meal, with great ambience, and great staff. The staff is fully vaccinated which is wonderful and made us feel comfortable- hopefully other restaurants can follow suit.
Outstanding service, excellent food but they will need to work on their cocktails
Terrific service, the freshest food, with a few added surprises from the chef. Really enjoyable meal and I can't wait to go back!
The table side made cocktails were so much fun. We learned about the ingredients in our drinks as well! The food was outstanding! The entire experience was so relaxing!
It was a mixed bag. My friend really liked her fish that came on a wood board, that included the separated head. She ordered a non-alcoholic drink. She wished there had been more drink and less foamy egg white on top. I liked my Prosecco. I ordered two first courses: a salad with greens and an egg. It was mixed and tasted ok but nothing outstanding. There were supposed to be sunchokes in the salad but I did not see them or taste them. I liked the Octopus offering better. The tentacle was delicious; the salad rather ordinary. The salads came with bread I could not eat even though with my reservation noted I needed to eat Gluten free. The Gluten free Goat Bakery is nearby; it would be easy to get things like this for people like me. Freeze and thaw it when needed. My friend ate the bread which she said was delicious. No gluten free desserts offered that I wanted; nothing out of the ordinary. The interesting part is that they grow much that they use in the garden beside the restaurant. I do applaud that. Maybe they may improve; for now I will go elsewhere for my next dinner out.
We had a fantastic meal for an anniversary. Food and service were excellent. We would highly recommend and will be back.
Food was excellent. Asked for Kir Royalle as cocktail and bartender improvised because of lack of cassis. Result was wonderful. Makes me sure that in-house developed cocktails would be worth a try. Started with shared small plate scallops and romaine salad with hummus on side. I had Lamb Shank; wife had Mushroom ravioli. Both were outstanding. Dessert was milk chocolate brownie with pistachio ice cream - not up to level of rest of the dinner. Wine list was more than adequate. Service was attentive and plentiful - a real team effort. We were there 6:00 to 7:45 on Friday evening. Because there are only hard surfaces, it was noisy. Overall great except for noise level.
Our meals were excellent and the service was efficient and attentive. Our server reminded us that the restaurant has a limit on time at the table (90 minutes), which I believe is unnecessary when surrounded by empty tables. Otherwise, we had a wonderful dining experience.
Great foods amd great service
Can always count on great food, service and ambiance at Spork!
We went to Spork for our anniversary date. The service was prompt, friendly, and helpful when asked for recommendations. The meal is pricey, but it went beyond our expectations. The menu does not tell the whole story of the courses that come with a meal. We will go back again for our next special celebration.
Creative menu which suffers in the execution. Octopus small plate exceptional but Bolognese underwhelmed. Salad and hummus plate mediocre. A small piece of metal wire in my amuse bouche for good measure. Not worth the price of admission.
It was such a pleasure to enjoy a meal at Spork. We went with small plate choices - all of which were beyond incredibly delicious. The service was great through out.
Excellent food, great service and beautiful atmosphere.
This was my first time and it was absolutely amazing. The wait staff was so kind and the owner even came to ask how our meal was. The food and cocktails were incredible. Would suggest this restaurant to anyone
Food, drinks and service were Top Notch! Definitely would recommend Spork..
This was hands down the best meal I've had in more than a year. Truly astonishing. Amazing service, wonderful staff, could not have been better!
We had an absolutely outstanding evening. Everything from drinks to dessert was phenomenal.
Both food and service exceeded expectations. Everyone worked together so seamlessly to make sure our drinks were always replenished and plates cleared between courses.
Jesse was a fantastic waiter and all of the food was very well composed and balanced. The overall flavors were excellent and the bar program is definitely one to go and try multiple cocktails
Thank you for a fabulous evening celebrating our godson’s graduation from CMU
Wonderful food, service and overall experience. I would absolutely recommend to anyone in the Pittsburgh are or visiting the area.
Amazing evening at Spork. Thank you Christian and team.
Favorites: octopus, tartare, ceviche (plantain chips are insane), spinalis with a lobster corndog, bolognese, orange torte, cheesecake...and pop up surprises throughout....Just fantastic.
The food and service were exceptional. We had a great experience for our anniversary. Highly recommend Spork!
This was our first visit to Spork since the pandemic began. If it is possible, Spork is even better. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was attentive and efficient. We truly enjoyed ourselves. Bravo.
Can not praise spork enough! Their attention to covid precautions and safety did not go without notice and appreciation. Our server Sarah was spot on. Not only was she intelligent and engaging she was passionate about the food and guided us well in satisfying our pallets! In Sarah’s own words: “ the fried chicken is life changing”! Can not wait till we return...spork never disappoints!
Great for my friend's birthday dinner! We enjoyed shareable apps and each had our own main, and they were accommodating to my friend's dietary restrictions. Very nice and friendly staff!
Very disappointed dining at Spork for the first and last time! The very first impression walking into a restaurant counts significantly. The hostess that received upon entering the restaurant was very rude and let us know that we only had until 7:30 to eat dinner (we arrived at 5:30), I would say 2 hours is plenty of time for a meal. Mind you, the place was empty when we got there. The rest of the staff was pushy, rushing us through the meal. I requested recommendations for wine from the in house sommelier, and they were terrible! She seemed more interested in pushing a $125 bottle than recommending a good bottle appropriate for the meal. The air of the restaurant was very pretentious and uninviting. The food was okay, but nothing compared to some of the finer restaurants in Pittsburgh, which Spork has a price tag for being, but the service, food and ambience don’t match. I would suggest other places in Pittsburgh such as Casbah, Stagioni, Eleven, before this place. Absolutely not worth it at all!
This is an unfair evaluation of your experience. You had a 5:15 reservation. Did not show up until 5:45. As restaurants are currently at 75% capacity, every reservation time is strategically mapped throughout the evening so we can turn our tables and continue to stay open under the current State mandates. It was your tardiness that created this uncomfortable situation for both you and our staff. It should be apparent to people reading this review compared to other reviews who is at fault here.
What a great dinner - steak and fois gras. A perfect cucumber kombucha as a palette cleanser. A bottle of wine that is one of best I’ve ever had and I’ve lived in every continent except Antarctica. I did spent $300 for 2
Great service. Very attentive. Food was amazing.
Everything that we ate was incredible. The Wagyu Spinalis was to die for! The service was amazing! Highly recommend this place.
Just an amazing restaurant. From the small plates to entrees. It was a wonderful dinner to have with my family to go out for the first time since we've been in quarantine.
Great food, drinks and atmosphere. Will definitely go back again.
Food and atmosphere were wonderful! Will come back again!
